Scarlatti’s works have been organized into more detailed groups for focused listening, and this structure is also reflected in CarPlay.

The balance between instruments within the soundfonts has been adjusted to make concertos sound more natural and comfortable. The app’s file size has also been optimized to improve performance and usability.

All 555 of Scarlatti’s sonatas, K.001–K.555, have been added. Domenico Scarlatti (1685–1757) is one of the foremost keyboard composers of the Baroque era, and his 555 harpsichord sonatas (Kirkpatrick numbers K.001–K.555) are widely regarded as masterpieces of lyricism, virtuosity, and creative ingenuity. Most of his sonatas are written in a single-movement form, reflecting his years in the Spanish and Portuguese courts. They reveal a remarkable blend of traditional European styles with the folk rhythms of the Iberian Peninsula. Motifs reminiscent of guitar and castanets, brilliant hand-crossing techniques, rapid passages, and inventive harmonic colors are characteristic of his writing. The sonatas K.001–K.555 display a wide range of expressive qualities: • Early sonatas (K.001–K.100): calm, poised, and rooted in Baroque elegance • Middle period (K.100–K.300): lively folk rhythms, bright themes, and increasingly virtuosic writing • Late period (K.300–K.555): emotionally rich, structurally adventurous, and at the height of Scarlatti’s creativity • Throughout the collection, each concise single-movement piece captures Scarlatti’s uniquely imaginative voice. With this update, you can now enjoy the complete set of Scarlatti’s 555 sonatas, offering a deeper and broader appreciation of the beauty of harpsichord music.

When you select a piece from the music list, the screen automatically scrolls down so you can instantly view the track description and soundfont selection area.
