Truly Simple Code Exporter is a lightweight macOS tool that grabs the code from your project folders so you can easily share it with another human, or paste it into AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude.
How it works:
1. Select or drag-and-drop a project folder into the app.
2. Filter the exact file types you need (like .swift, .js, or .py).
3. Copy all the formatted code to your clipboard or save it as a .txt file with a single click.
Features:
• Drag & Drop: Drop any folder from Finder straight onto the app window to get started immediately.
• AI-Ready Markdown: Automatically formats your code with file names and Markdown wrappers, making it perfect for AI prompts.
• Live Token & File Counts: See exactly how many files you’re exporting and get an estimated token count before you copy.
• Custom File Filters: Add your own custom file extensions, and the app will remember your preferences for your next session.
• Accessible Design: Features a beautiful, high-contrast Light and Dark mode, optimized for VoiceOver and reduced motion settings.
• Completely Free: The app is free to download and use with no ads, hidden costs, or in-app purchases.
Ratings & Reviews

I built Truly Simple Code Exporter to make "centaur programming" with AI as frictionless as possible. I’ve been smoothing out the rough edges and making the app feel more native to macOS. When I'm working with AI tools, I want zero friction between my code and the prompt, so I've added the ability to just drag and drop a folder directly onto the window.
I also revamped the design system to ensure the app looks sharp and remains highly accessible no matter what lighting you're working in.
Here is what’s new and improved:
• Drag & Drop: You can now drop any folder from Finder straight onto the app window to instantly open it.
• A Refined Look: Added a beautiful new adaptive system color palette, built a proper empty state, and verified high contrast for better readability.
• Settings View: Choose your preferred appearance (System, Light, or Dark) in the new dedicated settings window.
• Persistent File Extensions: The app now permanently remembers any custom file extensions you add.
• Better Feedback: Replaced the old loading spinner with a clear progress bar and file count (e.g., "5 of 12 files") right next to the live token estimate.
• Accessibility First: Added native support for VoiceOver, dynamic type scaling, and reduced motion preferences behind the scenes.
As always, Truly Simple Tools apps feature no subscriptions and no tracking. If this update speeds up your workflow, a quick App Store review goes a long way and is very much appreciated!
