In a fast-paced world overflowing with images, I chose to slow down life’s rhythm with an app called Lens Of The East. A camera, not one that captures moments through photographs but through words. Instead of saving an image, Lens Of The East translates what it sees into a meaningful idiom. This app is a combination of literature, art, and artificial intelligence, designed to help us reflect more deeply on modern life.
Lens Of The East is developed in Swift, utilising the Vision AI framework to analyse visual input and suggest an idiom inspired by the captured scene. Users will be able to read and contemplate the deeper meaning behind the phrase. Rather than storing an image, Lens Of The East offers a different kind of memory, one shaped by Eastern culture and folk wisdom.
Through this project, the question that I want to raise to the digital age is: can artificial intelligence become a tool that helps us see the world more profoundly? In a society where images are increasingly virtualised and manipulated by negative applications of AI, Lens Of The East, where visuals meet literature, represents a positive form of AI. It does not distort reality. Instead, it highlights the value of pausing, observing, understanding, rethinking, and feeling the world through the depth of language.
Perhaps behind every image lies a lesson in humanity? With the right direction, technology can guide us to approach these lessons with subtlety and insight. And behind every photograph, perhaps there is something worth contemplating, something about truth, goodness, and beauty in life?
