ImageSlim is a free and open-source image compression tool for macOS. It supports multiple formats, including .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .heic, and .pdf, helping you quickly reduce image file sizes and save storage space.
The app includes native macOS compression capabilities and works without additional setup. You can also enable third-party open-source tools such as Pngquant, Gifsicle, and Cwebp to compress PNG, GIF, WebP, and other formats more efficiently, with compression rates of up to 99%.
You can import files in several ways, including drag and drop, file selection, right-click opening, system sharing, or pasting images with Command + V. All imported images are processed locally on your Mac and are not uploaded to any server, helping protect your privacy.
ImageSlim provides several configurable options, including compression quality, output directory, and third-party compression engine settings. When third-party tools are not enabled, the app uses the built-in macOS compression capability by default, balancing compatibility and processing speed.
ImageSlim is fully open source, with its source code hosted on GitHub. Some image assets used in the app are from Freepik free resources.
ImageSlim is free, ad-free, and committed to not uploading your images to third-party servers or actively collecting your private data. Without sponsorship, each import is limited to 20 images, and each image must be no larger than 5 MB. Sponsorship removes these limits and helps support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the app.
ImageSlim is designed for developers, designers, content creators, and anyone who wants a simple, private, and efficient way to compress images on macOS.
