When Maya discovers a mysterious card game in her grandparents’ attic, she has no idea that it holds the key to an adventure through space and time.
MYK – Spuren der Zeit is an AR adventure that brings historical worlds to life in real locations. Together with Maya and her grandpa, you travel through the Mayen-Koblenz district (MYK) and follow the traces of time across seven extraordinary sites.
Eltz Castle, Caesar’s Rhine Bridge, the Goloring, the Millstone District, Sayner Hütte, Lake Laach and the historic cloth-making town of Monreal: these are the seven locations of MYK – Spuren der Zeit. Together, they take you on a journey through thousands of years of regional history – from the volcanic origins of the Eifel and Celtic rituals to Roman expansion, medieval life and industrialisation.
Each location tells its own chapter and can be experienced independently. What makes MYK special is that the adventure does not end when you leave one site. Instead, the story continues across all seven locations. Very different places and eras become part of one overarching story – and only gradually do you discover what connects them all.
At each location, an explorable world unfolds around you – a lovingly crafted vision of another time that you are free to discover at your own pace. Investigate buildings and objects, meet characters and become part of the story yourself: talk to people, hear their stories, solve puzzles, play minigames and try out historical machines. Your discoveries are rewarded with individually designed collectible cards that accompany you throughout your adventure.
The characters are portrayed by real actors, each world has its own distinctive design, and an original atmospheric score brings every location to life. The result is an immersive adventure for anyone who would rather discover a place than simply visit it. Maya and Grandpa Alfred offer two different ways into the story: Maya approaches the past with curiosity and a sense of play, while Grandpa Alfred explores the deeper background and connections.
