Splitting and shared trips get tip cards too. They explain that receipts and splits are separate, that sharing a trip doesn't split costs, that the amount on Home can switch to Mine, and how settle-up works, with a link straight to the matching guide. The trip created when you first install the app now fills in its dates based on your phone's time zone and asks you to confirm them. - Ask (Beta) answers now show the receipts behind them Store names, dates, items, and amounts in an answer all come straight from your receipts, with receipt cards below that you can tap to open and check. When there isn't enough to go on, Ask won't guess, and you can search on your own instead. Comparing, adding up, and ranking aren't answered for now. This update makes iCloud backup and restore far more complete, adds My Share to exports and the receipt list, adds a Look Up Flight shortcut, and brings an anniversary recap card in October. New features - iCloud backup and restore, rebuilt After switching phones or reinstalling, restoring from iCloud brings back your original points and trips. If a restore fails partway, the data already on your phone stays untouched. Backups now cover much more: besides receipts, they include your travel journal and photos, item photos, budgets, reward rules, pre-trip preparation, menu and drugstore scans, your profile photo, and more. Once your old phone has been updated to this version and opened, a new phone with iCloud Keychain on will usually pick up your points and trips the first time you open the app. If you have a backup, it then asks whether to restore your data too. New Auto Backup runs at most once a day, only when your data has changed and you're on Wi-Fi. The backup list shows Uploaded to iCloud, and if iCloud Drive is turned off for this app, you're shown where to turn it back on. If you also use the app on another device, Switch to another device's account on the iCloud Backup screen lets you use that device's points and trips. - My Share in exports and the receipt list When exporting trip data as CSV, turn on Include My Share to add three columns: My Share, the amount in your settlement currency, and the split status. The option appears once the trip has a default split group. With a single trip selected in the Receipts tab, split receipts show an extra My share line under the total, and receipts that aren't fully split say Not fully split. After you add, edit, or delete a split, amounts on Home and in the Receipts tab update on their own, with no need to pull to refresh. - Look Up Flight shortcut Add Look Up Flight in the Shortcuts app, enter a flight number and date, and see departure and arrival times, terminals, aircraft, and more without opening the app. Flights up to 150 days from today are supported. - Tabi Shu turns one From October 1 to October 31 (Taiwan time), a Tabi Shu turns one card appears on Home. It turns the trips, receipts, countries, and travel photos you've recorded into one shareable card. Spending is hidden by default and you can turn it on. The card is created only on your device. Important fixes - Fixed exported trip data showing dates one day off, and the last day's receipts missing from the daily breakdown, when your phone's time zone differs from the trip's. XML dates are no longer one day early. A new Show Item Translations switch in Settings shows only the original names when off. Translations are still saved and still work in exports and search, and Show Translations reveals them on a single receipt. Items on the receipt details screen no longer show a red question mark. - Haul photo Add one haul photo to each receipt, shown on the receipt details screen. Receipts stored in the cloud back up the haul photo too. Item photos now open a crop screen first, whether they come from the camera, your album, or Crop from haul photo. - Tax and discounts shared out in item-based splits You no longer pick who pays the tax, service charge, or discounts. They're shared out automatically in proportion to each person's item amounts. - Trip inspiration: onsen and family parks Onsen inspiration suggests nearby spots from 38 distinctive onsen areas in Japan, based on where your trip goes. Family park ideas works out your area from your stays and trip name, then suggests parks there or an easy side trip away, from 40 family parks in Japan. In July and August, parks with water play come first. Your area is worked out only on your device. This app only curates public information. Hours and rules follow each place's latest official information. Improvements - Daily spending in Statistics now shows each day's receipt count. When a trip uses two or more currencies, categories and payment methods show the original amount in each currency in small text. - Apple Private Cloud Compute now also reads coupon discounts and the total consumption tax. - The + (Add Record) button on split group screens is now at the top right, so you can reach it at any scroll position. Split amounts never change on their own. You choose Use new amounts or Keep as is, and nothing is applied until you tap. Deleting a receipt tells you first how many splits are linked to it. Those splits are not deleted with it. The flag only covers receipt edits made from this version on, and it stays on this device. New features - Recognition through Apple Private Cloud Compute After you take a receipt photo, or pick one from your album, the recognition menu now offers three options: Apple Intelligence (on-device, offline), Apple Private Cloud Compute, and cloud recognition. Apple Private Cloud Compute processes the photo through Apple, not through our servers, and uses no points. Apple applies a daily quota. It requires iOS 27 or later and currently supports receipts from Japan and South Korea. - Free up photo space A new button sits to the right of the heading on the Receipts tab. It deletes the main photo of every receipt matching your current filters in one go, freeing up space on your device. Only the main receipt photo is deleted. Amounts, items, item photos, and tax-free details all stay. Deletion cannot be undone, so the conditions and the number of photos are shown for you to confirm first. - Sorting for split details Split details can now be sorted by date (newest or oldest) or by amount (high to low or low to high). The date used is the purchase time on the receipt. Your choice is remembered, and exported files follow the same order. This update adds four things: your own exchange rate for a trip, a way to work out what you really get back from a tax-free refund, smarter trip inspiration, and image attachments on split records. New Features - My Exchange Rates When you create or edit a trip, you can enter the rate you actually got, such as the yen you changed at the airport. Once it is set, the home screen, statistics, the category and payment method breakdowns, budgets, receipt details and exported reports all convert with that rate, so the same amount reads the same on every screen. Amount fields open a calculator keyboard for quick arithmetic. - See what you really get back from a tax-free refund For each refund you can record the refund provider (nine to choose from), the fees (processing, remittance and transaction) and the amount that actually arrived, and the app works out your estimated amount received. The refund reconciliation screen has been rebuilt into three pages, overview, edit refund details and fee breakdown, and opens on a single large number. You can also photograph a provider's refund screen to fill the fields in automatically. Amounts are supported in Japanese yen only. - Trip inspiration knows your destination better A trip can now list its main prefectures, and events there are shown first. Your trip name and region names, such as Kansai, are taken into account too. Okinawa is now its own region rather than part of Kyushu. Fireworks has been added as an event type. - Attach images to split records Each split payment record can hold up to three images, such as a transfer screenshot or a photo of a receipt. Everyone in the group can see them, and view-only members can open them full size. Improvements - Ask your receipts finds the right ones more often Asking a question now surfaces more of the relevant receipts and orders them better. When this iPhone cannot answer with Apple Intelligence, the app tells you why first, such as the iOS version, not turned on yet, or still getting ready. Close the message and it searches with what you typed. - Budgets no longer quietly undercount Currencies with no exchange rate used to be dropped silently, leaving the budget total too low. A line under the budget card now says how many currencies have no exchange rate and are not counted. - More accurate cloud recognition VAT printed on Vietnamese receipts is now captured as tax. Recognition of whether tax is already included in the price has also improved for receipts from the UK, China, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia and Thailand. Bug Fixes - Changing the purchase date on a tax-free receipt did not recalculate the tax-free deadline, so the old date decided which tax-free rules applied and the 30-day and 90-day limits were wrong. - The same tax-free receipt could show different refund statuses in the receipt details and in Tax-Free Refunds. - When device authentication expired, the app said the server response was incomplete, leaving no way to know what to do. It now tells you to reopen the app. - View-only members of a split group could not scroll a record's contents and could not see the lower part of it. - Cloud recognition occasionally failed because of a malformed response. This update does one thing: when you travel with friends, the amounts on Home can switch to show only what you personally owe. New Features - Switch Home amounts between Whole Group and Mine A new toggle sits at the right of the title row on the Home budget card. Switch to Mine and the budget progress, today's spending and trip total on Home all change to what you actually owe after splitting, along with the settlement currency reference amount on the budget card. Your budget target and the number of receipts recorded stay the same, and split settlement amounts are not affected at all. You need to set a default split group for the trip before you can switch. Home always starts back on Whole Group. Amounts others paid on your behalf, and receipts you recorded for others but did not share in, are excluded from your share. - Split Coverage When a receipt has no split yet, or its split records don't cover the whole receipt, a line under the budget card tells you how many receipts are affected. Tap it to see exactly which ones, grouped into two kinds: receipts with no split record (counted in full for now), and receipts whose split records don't cover the whole amount (your share may be overstated). Event data is curated by JAPAN ART MAP, and details can change at any time, so always check the official site. None of your trip data is sent anywhere. When nothing lines up with your trip, the entry points stay hidden. - Three new dietary preferences: No Nori, No Kelp and No Kombu You can pick each one separately under Food in Traveler Preferences. When you scan a menu, any dish that clearly lists one of these ingredients is flagged as one to avoid, along with which ingredient it is. Each one comes with a Japanese phrase you can show staff, and it works offline. The three are judged independently and never inferred from one another. When there isn't enough information to tell, the dish stays marked as needing confirmation rather than being shown as safe. Past scans are left as they were. Improvements - A bigger store name suggestion list The store name suggestions in manual entry grew from 32 to 60, with two new categories: Fashion and Variety Stores. Drugstores, supermarkets, cafes and convenience stores all gained common names too. Transport suggestions now use real names such as Tokyo Metro, Shinkansen, Uber, GO and LUUP. The answer lists the items, with the receipts it found below it, and tapping one opens it. This runs on the AI built into your device, entirely on device. Your receipts are never sent over the network, and it costs no points. It needs Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings; if it is off or your device does not support it, the tab quietly falls back to ordinary search rather than disappearing. It is marked Beta for now: the AI can get things wrong, so a note below each answer reminds you to check against the receipts. - Pull Cloud Receipts Back Onto Your Phone The settings button at the top right of Find a receipt now includes an action that brings back receipts that exist only in the cloud with no copy on your phone, so search and Ask can find them. You run it yourself; it never happens in the background. It does not download receipt photos, and it never brings back receipts you deleted. - Duplicate a Receipt From the top right of a receipt, or by long-pressing a receipt in the records list, you can create an identical copy and pick a new purchase date on the spot. Handy when you buy the same things repeatedly. The copy shares the same photo as the original, and deleting either one warns you first. - Lock Screen Widget and Control Center Buttons You can add a trip widget to your Lock Screen in three shapes, and its content switches automatically between before you go, on the trip, and after you are back. Control Center can also take two buttons, one to record an expense and one to find a receipt. Important Fixes - Fixed receipts not being deletable by swiping in the records list, a problem present since version 1.19. It works in both local groups and cloud-collaboration groups, and members of a shared group get a notification. - The Home Screen Changes With Your Trip Home now has three phases, before you go, on the trip, and after you are back, and it switches the main task and the ordering automatically. Before you go, flights, accommodation, rental cars, travel documents, your shopping list and eSIM are gathered into six summary cards. On the trip, recording an expense takes the most prominent spot. After you are back, a "Wrap up this trip" checklist appears covering spending, splits, tax refunds, shopping for others and your travel journal, with a small celebration once everything is done. - Find a Receipt Use the magnifying glass on Home, or "Search all receipts" on the Records screen, to find a receipt by store name, what you bought, trip, city, country or category. This update lets an invited friend take over a participant that is already on the list, instead of always creating a new one. It also fixes several issues that made information you had already recorded look like it had disappeared. New Features - Invite a Friend to Take Over an Existing Participant Previously, if you created a participant for a friend and that friend then joined with an invite code, a separate new participant was created, so the splits recorded under their name no longer lined up. You can now choose who an invite code is for. When your friend joins, they take over that participant and the existing records stay with them. Anyone who has already joined can also pick "I'm already on the participant list" in the group and take over themselves. This update shows a converted amount on every receipt, using the exchange rate from the day of purchase so the number no longer moves with today's rate. It also fixes several screens that stayed in Chinese after switching the app's language to English or Japanese. It uses the rate from the day of purchase, recorded when you save, so it no longer moves afterwards. This update lets you mark settlements as done right from the Settlement Plan page, instead of opening each record one by one. It also fixes the full-screen view for long receipts and a mismatch between the settlement share card and what you see on screen. New Features - Mark Settlements as Done Right From the Settlement Plan The Settlement Plan page used to be read-only: to record that someone had paid you back, you had to leave the page, go into the group, open that record, and enter its editor. Now a single tap on a card marks the whole group of items as Settled, and expanding the details lets you check them off one at a time, so a partial payback is recorded properly and the card shows how far along you are. Tapped the wrong one? Mark as Unsettled puts it back. Several people can work on it at once without the numbers getting out of sync. Important Fixes - Full-Screen Long Receipts Showed Only a Blurry Top-Left Corner Fixed an issue where opening a long receipt in full screen left it stuck on a heavily magnified, blurry top-left corner that could not be zoomed or scrolled. This had been happening since 1.115. - Settlement Share Card Showed Different Recipients and Amounts Fixed an issue where the image card shared from the Settlement Plan (and the copied text) listed a different number of transfers, different recipients, and different amounts than the page itself — so an organizer could be waiting on a payment from one person while the group paid someone else based on the card. The card and the page now match exactly, and when settled items are left out, the count of those items is shown under the title. - Incomplete Settlement Details in Groups With Many Records Fixed an issue where the Settlement Plan details were calculated only from the records already loaded, so groups with many split records showed fewer items and lower amounts. This update adds segmented capture for long receipts. When a receipt is too long to fit in one photo, you can now take it in several segments and the app joins them into a single receipt. New Features - Segmented Capture for Long Receipts When a receipt will not fit in one shot, take the first photo and choose "This is a long receipt, continue to next segment" to keep going, up to 4 segments. From the second segment onward, the bottom of the previous segment is shown faintly on screen so you can line up where it continues. Captured segments can be previewed, retaken, deleted, or dragged into a different order. Importing from your photo library works too: choose "Merge into One Long Receipt" and the segments are joined in the order you selected them. All segments are recognized together in a single pass, so only one point is used. The result is one receipt that you can scroll through in full on the receipt detail page, and double-tap to view it enlarged. If you switch to another app or lose connection while it is being recognized, it picks up where it left off when you return, without using extra points. This feature uses cloud recognition. Once dates are set, receipts are automatically assigned to the right country by purchase date, and date-format interpretation and daily spending totals follow the same segments. Travel tools, eSIM, airport transfer, the pre-trip checklist, and traveler preference matching now open up whenever any country on the itinerary supports them, instead of looking only at the first country. For a segment with no dates, you can still pick the country manually on the confirmation screen.
