My Head Chef: Recipe Assistant
AI Recipes for Real Life

No more banners between you and dinner — donation prompts removed for a cleaner, distraction-free kitchen.
My Head Chef is your friendly kitchen sidekick—yep, that’s me, SousBot—here to help you cook smarter, faster, and with way less stress. Tell me what you’ve got, what you want, and how much time you actually have, and I’ll whip up a recipe that fits your ingredients, your schedule, and your appetite.
Cooking for two? Six? A small army? Just set the number of servings and I’ll scale every ingredient automatically, complete with smart unit conversions so you’re not stuck doing math before dinner. If you’re in a rush, pick your time window and I’ll filter out anything that doesn’t fit. Need something under 15 minutes? I’ve got you. Feeling ambitious with an hour to spare? Let’s go big.
I keep things flexible, too. If your time or dietary restrictions get a little… complicated, I’ll guide you with clear, friendly messages instead of leaving you confused. And if a recipe might take longer than you asked for, I’ll let you know before you commit.
Everything is designed to be easy to read, easy to tap, and easy to follow. Big text options, clean layout, full VoiceOver support, recipe narration, and a distraction‑free cooking flow. You focus on the food—I’ll handle the details.
Save your favorites, explore new ideas, and cook with confidence. Whether you’re a beginner, a busy parent, or a seasoned home chef, I’m here to make your kitchen feel a little more fun and a lot more doable.
Let’s make something delicious together.
more Alright chef, quick one this time, but a satisfying one.
I cleared out every donation banner and "Buy Me A Coffee" button that used to pop up around the app. No more nudges between you and your next recipe — just a cleaner, 100% distraction-free kitchen from the moment you open Home to the moment you plate.
While I was in there, I tidied up the About screen and settings too. The support paths you'd actually use are simpler to find, without the clutter around them.
That's the whole update. Small, but the kind of small that makes the whole kitchen feel calmer.
Sharpen your knives — I'll see you in there.

2.8.0 Jul 21
Alright chef, gather round — this one's a foundation update, and it matters more than it sounds like at first read.
Under the hood, I got a brand-new set of knives: My Head Chef is now running on a newer tech stack, which means better long-term stability for every feature you already use, and a smoother runway for everything coming next.
On the surface, I tidied up the counter a bit. The Home screen title and tagline are easier to read over the hero image, so the first thing you see actually looks the way it's supposed to. And your saved recipes now migrate through a single, verifiable transaction — no more wondering if something got left behind in the shuffle.
I also cleaned house on the privacy side. Analytics are gone, for good. Leaner app, fewer moving parts watching over your shoulder, more of your data staying yours.
And behind the scenes, saved-recipe lookups and imports are more reliable than ever, so your kitchen stays exactly where you left it.
Update, restart the oven, and let's keep cooking.

2.7.5 Jul 3
No major overhaul this time — but there's more here than meets the eye.
The biggest change under the hood: startup tasks now run in the background, so your Home screen is ready faster. No more standing at the door while I finish my morning mise en place.
But we also shipped two things you'll actually notice. First, the community filter panel now collapses and expands — so you can tuck those filters away when you're done with them, and a badge tells you at a glance how many are active. Cleaner browsing.
Second — and this is the one I've been quietly building toward — the kitchen is getting a new room. Something's coming that connects your recipe workflow in a way I can't fully describe yet. The groundwork is in.
Oh, and I quietly removed some analytics I was running in the background. Your usage data stays on your device. That felt right.
More soon. See you in the kitchen.

2.6.1 May 9
Hey chef, SousBot here. This one's a big one — and I don't say that lightly.
Version 2.6.0 ships six features that change how you cook with My Head Chef. Not cosmetic tweaks. Real tools, built for real kitchens.
Step Tracking. Every instruction step in a recipe is now tappable. Tap it when you're done and it dims out with a strikethrough so you always know exactly where you are. No more losing your place mid-cook. No more re-reading from the top.
Cuisine Style Input. On the Home screen you'll find a new Style field — type in a culinary style like "Italian," "Thai," or "Budget Street Food" and I'll factor it into the recipe. Want a French take on a simple pasta? Just say so.
Budget Mode. Toggle it on and every recipe targets around $2 per serving using everyday ingredients and minimal equipment. Great for students, stretched weeks, and anyone who knows that good food doesn't require a credit card.
Budget Alternatives. Every generated recipe now includes a Budget Alternatives section between the ingredients and instructions. Cheaper swaps, with context on when and how to use them. Even if you never touch Budget Mode, this one's for you.
Off-Grid Mode. Camping, power outage, or just no blender today? Enable Off-Grid Mode and every recipe sticks to manual tools only. No microwaves, no electric stoves, no excuses.
Metric and Imperial Units. Set your preference once in Settings and every ingredient quantity — across recipes and your shopping list — shows up in the units you think in. Locale-detected on first launch. Updates live, no restart needed.
All of these live in a new collapsible Cooking Preferences section on the Home screen — clean, out of the way when you don't need it, right there when you do.
Alright chef — knives up. Let's cook.
