GetGrip — Ski Wax Guide
Grip & glide for XC skis
Free · In‑App Purchases
Grip, klister and glide, worked out from ten days of local weather — on your Home Screen too.
The right wax, worked out automatically.
GetGrip reads ten days of weather for exactly where you ski, works out what the snow has actually become, and matches it to the wax you own. No guessing from the air temperature alone.
GRIP, KLISTER AND GLIDE
One tap switches between kick wax and glide wax. Every recommendation gives you a clear first choice, the other waxes that also cover the temperature, and the base to lay down first — a klister base under klister, a base wax under hard wax on coarse snow, base prep under glide on abrasive or very cold snow.
ACCOUNTS FOR LOCAL CONDITIONS
Fresh snow, a thaw, rain on snow, a hard refreeze overnight: each leaves the snowpack in a different state and wants a different wax. GetGrip tracks snowfall, rain, thaw-freeze cycles, temperature trends and humidity to tell new snow from fine-grained from a refrozen crust. For glide you choose between new, fine-grained, coarse and wet snow — the distinctions that actually change a glide wax.
THE WAX YOU HAVE
Tick the lines you own — Swix V, VP, universal, KX and Nero klister, Performance Speed, High Speed, Top Speed, base prep, and Rode hard wax and klister — and GetGrip only suggests something you can reach for. A kit that's easy to buy where you live is ticked for you from the start; tap Skip and you're ready.
SCRUB THE TEMPERATURE
Drag the chart under the glass loupe to see how the choice changes degree by degree, with a gentle tick for every degree. Wax for the afternoon rather than the morning.
ON YOUR HOME AND LOCK SCREEN
Widgets in every size show today's wax at a glance — grip, glide or both — for where you are, or for a trail you choose by name.
ANYWHERE YOU SKI
Use your location, or drop a pin on the map to check conditions at the trailhead before you leave home.
