Photo Location Intelligence

Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

The best shots aren't found — they're planned. GeoLog puts the sky, the light, and your sensor data together so you know exactly where to be and when to be there. GeoLog is your location intelligence for finding, planning, and capturing the perfect shot. Great photography isn't luck — it's knowing where to be, and when. GeoLog is the all-in-one scouting companion that remembers every location, tracks the light, and gives you the tools to turn a great location into a great photograph. YOUR PERSONAL LOCATION LIBRARY Every great location deserves to be remembered. GeoLog automatically captures GPS coordinates, altitude, heading, and timestamp the moment you scout a spot — so nothing gets lost between visits. • Auto-logged GPS, altitude, and heading • Organize by location, region, or import session • Add notes, tags, and photos to any spot • iCloud sync keeps your library across all your devices SCOUT THE FULL STORY Great shots evolve. GeoLog lets you document a location from every angle — the subject, the approach, the context — so you can study your options, share with fellow photographers, and return with a better plan. The viewfinder helps you previsualize compositions. The gallery tells the whole story. • Live viewfinder with zoom focal length slider • Capture supporting photos for context and composition study • Photograph signs, trail markers, and surroundings to tell the full story • Review and compare angles before you return PLAN THE LIGHT Know exactly when the scene will come alive. GeoLog's ephemeris engine gives you precise sun and moon data for any location — including extreme latitudes where other apps fall short. • Golden hour, blue hour, and twilight tracking • Sun and moon rise, set, and position arcs • Circumpolar support for Arctic and Antarctic conditions • Magnetic and true north compass • 7-day weather forecast at the scouted location — not where you are now YOUR COMPLETE PHOTOGRAPHER'S TOOLKIT GeoLog brings together everything a serious photographer needs — from exposure calculators and film tools to integrated navigation. No app switching, no lost notes, no missed moments. • Film reciprocity calculator for long exposures • Exposure compensation calculator • Depth of field calculator • Exposure timer with Dynamic Island and lock screen support • Photo slate for external camera session logging • GeoReturn integration — navigate back to the exact spot when you're ready to shoot Perfect for landscape, travel, architecture, portrait, film, and astrophotography. This update improves Partial and Annular Solar Eclipse accuracy in Ephemeris, adds Barrel EV values for older cameras, and adds links to SunQuest for shadow planning. Smarter Eclipse Detection Solar eclipse detection is significantly more accurate, and now tells you whether an eclipse is Partial, Annular, or Total — not just that one is happening. More Accurate Moon Phases Fixed the moon phase countdown so it always counts to the nearest occurrence of a phase, instead of occasionally showing a confusing number of days. Barrel EV in the Light Meter The exposure light meter now shows a third reading — Barrel EV — the number a vintage EV-coupled lens or shutter (like a Hasselblad CF or Compur) would show for your current aperture and shutter speed. A quick way to cross-check GeoLog against a physical camera. SunQuest Integration GPS Options in Location Detail and Ephemeris now link directly to SunQuest's Building Shadows and Building & Terrain Shadows views — already centered on your location, heading, and time — so you can see how shadows will fall on your subject throughout the day and year. SunQuest is a separate app, available on the App Store. Smarter links to TPE Opening The Photographer's Ephemeris from GeoLog now includes — dates and time added to match the date being used in Ephemeris. You can also tell GeoLog how far away your subject is, from across the street to a distant mountain, and it'll drop TPE's secondary gray pin (geodetics) at exactly that spot and zoom the map to fit both pins perfectly. Ephemeris Quick Links A new button in Ephemeris jumps straight to SunQuest or The Photographer's Ephemeris using the exact date, time, and heading you're currently viewing, for even more location research. Both are separate apps, available on the App Store. Thanks for using GeoLog!
