Smarter Eclipse Detection Solar eclipse detection is significantly more accurate, and now tells you whether an eclipse is Partial, Annular, or Total — not just that one is happening. More Accurate Moon Phases Fixed the moon phase countdown so it always counts to the nearest occurrence of a phase, instead of occasionally showing a confusing number of days. Barrel EV in the Light Meter The exposure light meter now shows a third reading — Barrel EV — the number a vintage EV-coupled lens or shutter (like a Hasselblad CF or Compur) would show for your current aperture and shutter speed. A quick way to cross-check GeoLog against a physical camera. SunQuest Integration GPS Options in Location Detail and Ephemeris now link directly to SunQuest's Building Shadows and Building & Terrain Shadows views — already centered on your location, heading, and time — so you can see how shadows will fall on your subject throughout the day and year. SunQuest is a separate app, available on the App Store. Smarter links to TPE Opening The Photographer's Ephemeris from GeoLog now includes — dates and time added to match the date being used in Ephemeris. You can also tell GeoLog how far away your subject is, from across the street to a distant mountain, and it'll drop TPE's secondary gray pin (geodetics) at exactly that spot and zoom the map to fit both pins perfectly. This update improves location accuracy and fixes a couple of display issues. * Timezones now resolve correctly even without an internet connection, using on-device location data. * Fixed an inconsistency between true north and magnetic north readings so compass headings recorded with your photos are now accurate and consistent, whether shot in GeoLog or imported from the Photos app. * The Ephemeris compass now correctly aligns celestial positions with your heading, with clearer true and magnetic indicators shown together. * Fixed an issue where crop marks did not update immediately after switching lenses.

GeoLog 3.1 Live Light Meter The Exposure calculator now includes a built-in incident light meter that activates automatically. Switch between Manual, Aperture Priority, and Shutter Priority — the meter drives your triangle in real time. Camera EV and Scene EV display side by side so you always know whether the number you're reading is a property of your camera or the light itself. Milky Way & Solar Cycle The Ephemeris compass now traces the galactic plane across your local sky — a purple arc marking the full galactic disk with a brighter core glow. Solar cycle phase labels (Golden Hour, Blue Hour, Nautical Twilight, and 17 more) update live as you scrub through the day. GPS & Compass Accuracy GeoLog captures sensor accuracy at the exact moment you shoot — data standard EXIF doesn't record. A live readout in the Camera shows quality before you commit.
