Werkwoorden (Strong Verbs)
Dutch strong verbs change their stem vowel in unpredictable ways — the only real way to learn them is practice. Flip through flashcards or test yourself in practice mode. Each verb includes the infinitive, simple past (singular and plural), and past participle, with English translations. Track which verbs you've learned, which you've mastered, and your overall accuracy.
Woordvolgorde (Word Order)
Dutch word order follows rules that feel counterintuitive for English speakers — the verb-second rule, inversion, subordinate clauses pushing verbs to the end. Arrange scrambled words into correct Dutch sentences and build an intuition for how Dutch word order actually works. Hundreds of sentences covering everyday topics, from simple SVO to complex constructions with modals and subordinate clauses.
De / Het (Articles)
About two-thirds of Dutch nouns take "de" and one-third take "het" — and there's no shortcut but to memorize them. Practice with common nouns and build up your instinct for the correct article over time.
