midiOS 2.7 introduces Offline Play, transforming your iPhone into a self-contained musical instrument with built-in sounds, personal sample recording and importing, instrument racks, and an Offline LiveGrid for capturing and launching performances—no computer required. This release also expands Performance Control with Piano Hands, refined voice leading, new harmony gestures, and deeper motion and facial expression controls. A redesigned guided tour makes midiOS easier to learn, while major improvements to MIDI note ownership, Bridge communication, Marketplace transfers, connection recovery, and overall performance make playing more responsive and reliable.

Choose Piano for musical defaults, Custom for your own mappings, or Ableton Macros to control Macros 1–6 on the selected device. Use head movement to shift held notes chromatically or move chords between sus2, their original voicing, and sus4. Expanded note and chord gestures provide more control over pitch, inversions, octaves, harmony, and expression. Chord voice leading is now smoother and more connected, while Flow gestures produce more musical, repeatable phrases. The refreshed Editor and Pad Mode Gallery make instruments clearer and faster to build, and Giant XY layouts now remain consistent through device rotation. What’s New in Version 2.3.8 midiOS 2.3.8 delivers a series of refinements focused on iPhone 17 Pro Max support, performance, and workflow improvements. Landscape and portrait layouts have been optimized for larger displays, with improved spacing, scaling, and control positioning across the interface. Pad velocity response has been redesigned to provide a smoother playing experience with improved dynamic control and greater expressive range. Secondary Dominant gesture detection has been refined on larger devices to reduce accidental triggers during fast chord performance. Loop recording has been improved to prevent Auto Drummer note cutoffs when closing loops ahead of the bar line. Presets View has received a visual refresh with improved styling and clearer selection states. Additional UI polish, notification positioning improvements, and bug fixes have been implemented throughout the app for a more consistent experience across all supported devices.

Version 2.3.7 brings full optimization and support for iPhone 17 Pro Max. After extensive testing across both iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, landscape and portrait layouts have been refined to scale correctly across device sizes while preserving the familiar feel of midiOS. Landscape mode now features improved header balancing between the logo, bank selector, edit mode toggle, and LiveGrid controls, while portrait mode makes better use of available screen space on larger displays with improved pad sizing and visual balance. This release also includes continued improvements to the Guided Tour system, additional naming and flats display fixes, refinements to Flow Engine note selection, Drum Role Engine timing improvements, Chord Motion Engine transport alignment updates, and hat gesture enhancements. The new Bridge app icon is now included as part of the ongoing visual refresh. Behind the scenes, numerous layout adjustments, spacing refinements, and stability improvements have been made throughout the app. No changes were made to MIDI routing, LiveGrid behavior, networking, or transport functionality. Existing workflows remain fully compatible while benefiting from improved responsiveness and device-specific layout tuning. With iPhone 17 Pro Max support finalized and extensive testing completed across all major features, midiOS 2.3.7 is now the most polished and refined version of the app to date.

midiOS 2.3.6 adds several usability, workflow, and performance improvements throughout the app. Helper Pills have been expanded across the interface, providing clearer visual feedback when features and modes are enabled or disabled. Control Hub’s Mini Live Grid now includes a clip deletion workflow. Long-pressing the button used to switch between Macros and Mini Live Grid enters clip deletion mode, making session cleanup faster during performance. The app now defaults to flat note naming instead of sharps, creating a more natural musical experience for many common keys and scales right out of the box. Pad release timing and gesture handling have been refined to improve responsiveness and help reduce issues that could occur during rapid multi-finger performance techniques. Additional visual polish, workflow improvements, and stability enhancements have been made throughout the app.

What’s New in Version 2.3.5 Version 2.3.5 focuses on stability, performance, and refinement across the core midiOS experience. This update improves MIDI channel handling and persistence throughout the app, including bank switching, channel jump functions, and restoring defaults. Several edge cases affecting harmony generation and chord playback have been resolved, resulting in more reliable performance during live use. Voice Leading mode has been improved, including fixes for secondary dominant chords and inversion behavior. XY Tilt controls have also received updates to improve orientation handling and responsiveness when rotating the device. We’ve continued refining the user interface with adjustments to logo sizing, layout spacing, visual balance, and overall presentation. Motion baseline recalibration behavior has been updated to provide a smoother and more predictable experience when using XY control pads. As always, numerous under-the-hood improvements and bug fixes have been included to make midiOS feel faster, more stable, and more reliable on stage and in the studio.
