$3.99 · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Rebuilt from the ground up: whole covers, a first run that starts with games you already know, and five accents to make it yours.
Stop rating games with stars. Start ranking them the right way.
Rank Your Games uses head-to-head matchups to build your personal game
ranking — two games face off, you pick a winner, and your list evolves
automatically. No arbitrary scores. Just your instinct, one battle at a time.
HOW IT WORKS
It starts by asking which games you have played, from a grid of ones you are
likely to recognise — those become your first ranking, about a minute in.
After that, every matchup puts two games head-to-head. Pick your favorite. The
winner climbs your rankings, the loser drops — powered by the same Elo rating
system used in chess and competitive sports. After enough battles, your true
ranking emerges. Once you've ranked ten, Discover starts reading that ranking
to suggest what to play next.
FEATURES

explaining why it picked that game for you

Your rankings are yours. Build them one battle at a time.
more A duel on your Home Screen. Add the Duel widget and it asks which of two of your games goes first: tap a cover and the next one appears, without opening the app. Once you've answered them all, tap it and watch each winner land in its new spot in your ranking.
And once a week, on Monday evening, a notification brings you a duel. Long-press it and pick: the duel is saved without opening the app. Tap it instead and Duel opens on that same pair.
2.2.4 3d ago
Your collection, waiting list and Discover picks now belong to the account that made them. Switching accounts or signing out can no longer leave one account's games showing under another.
Discover handles a busy moment better: it asks you to wait instead of failing, and keeps the cards you already have.
And the Spanish now reads the way it's spoken in Spain.
2.1.2 Oct 3
We've updated the app for iOS 27.
Search keeps its field at the bottom, with the tabs collapsing while you search. We've also adjusted sheets to give larger text more room.
You can now open your ranking, open a game from your collection or search for a title from Shortcuts and Siri, in English and Spanish.
iOS 18 and iOS 26 remain supported.
2.1.0 Sep 18
DISCOVER OPENS A LOT SOONER
Discover looks at your ranking and suggests games you might like. It stayed locked until ten of your games had been through a duel, and almost nobody got that far: most people who opened it had two or three games, and plenty had none. A part of the app you never reach may as well not be there.
It opens at five now. The honest trade: with five games we know less about you than with ten, so the first suggestions will be rougher. We would rather be roughly useful early than exactly right for the few who made it.
AND THE COUNTDOWN FINALLY MAKES SENSE
It read "You're at 3 of 10" without ever saying three of ten what. Worse, the bar counted the games you had added while the door counted the ones you had compared — so with fourteen games and six duels it read "you're at 10 of 10" directly above "4 to unlock".
It now reads "3 of 5 ranked", and every number on that screen comes from the same place.
2.0.12 Sep 13
A GAME NOW HAS TO EARN THE TOP
Every game starts on the same score, so winning a single duel put a game near the top of your list — above games you had compared nine or ten times. That was never a verdict; it was a game that had answered one question and got lucky.
Games with a single duel now sit below everything you have compared at least twice, whatever their score, and their row says they are still settling. They climb the moment you compare them again.
This does not touch anything you have already decided: the games you have actually compared keep the order you gave them.
COMPARE STOPS ASKING YOU THE SAME QUESTION TWICE
One duel in eight between two of your own games was a pairing you had already answered. Sometimes it came back within seconds.
Compare now remembers which games it has already put head to head and looks for pairs you have not seen. A rematch is still possible when two games are neck and neck; it just stops being the default.
A GAME YOU NEVER GOT ROUND TO PLACING NO LONGER LINGERS
Adding a game from search, from its page, or from your waiting list takes you straight to a duel to place it. If you left before answering, the game stayed in your collection anyway, sitting unranked.
Now it is taken back out, and the recommendation that brought it is not spent either. If you do want to place it later, the "games not measured" row on You is still there.

THREE TIMES AS MANY GAMES TO CHOOSE FROM
Compare found new games by asking IGDB for a page of its top-rated list, with the page number picked at random — and it could only ever reach part of that list. It kept choosing from the same small group, however long the list actually was.
The app now keeps its own copy and chooses from all of it. Same games, same quality bar — just all of them.
NO MORE CHOOSING BETWEEN A GAME AND ITS OWN BUNDLE
"The Witcher 3" against "The Witcher 3 — Game of the Year Edition" is not a preference, it is a technicality, and it spent a whole duel.
That is gone, along with re-releases of a game already in front of you. Remakes stay: the 2023 Resident Evil 4 is a different game from the 2005 one, and that is a real choice.
AND IT IS FASTER
Loading a new pair meant a round trip to IGDB. It now comes from our own database, which is a good deal closer.
DISCOVER, CLOSER TO YOUR RANKING
Recommendations refresh more often, so the ones you see were worked out from your ranking as it is today rather than as it was three days ago.
2.0.7 Aug 28
IF YOU READ AT LARGE TEXT SIZES, THE DUEL WORKS AGAIN
At the largest accessibility sizes one game filled almost the whole screen and the second fell off it, so there was no way to choose. The duel scrolls now, and only at those sizes. Nothing else changes, and covers are still whole and in their own proportions.
We would rather give you the second game back than cap how far the text can grow. People who turn it up do it because they need it.
YOU CAN NOW TURN USAGE DATA OFF
The app records a few moments — that you opened it, that you reached the first-run grid, how many games you picked, that you started or finished a run of duels — so we can see where people get stuck. Never which games they are, or how you rank them.
Under You → Language and colour → Privacy there is a switch to stop sending them. It takes effect the moment you tap it, not at the next launch.
AND TWO THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT NOTICE
A game's release year could arrive malformed and, when it did, stop your whole collection from loading. Fixed on both sides, the one that reads and the one that writes.
2.0.6 Aug 23
A NEW WAY TO LOOK AT YOUR GAMES
The app has been rebuilt. It is dark throughout, every screen is new, and choosing between two games is a screen again rather than two cards on a list.
CHOOSING IS A SCREEN AGAIN
Each game's cover is shown whole, at its own proportions, with the words beside it instead of printed across the art. Nothing is cropped and nothing is written over a poster, so what you are choosing between is the artwork as it was made.
The whole card picks — the name works, not just the cover — and it answers your finger the moment you touch it. When a pick moves a game up your list, a band across the screen says where it landed.
YOU START WITH YOUR OWN GAMES
The first thing the app does now is ask which games you have played, from a grid of ones you are likely to recognise. Then it puts those against each other. Before, your first comparison was between two games you might never have heard of.
If nothing in the grid is yours, search for anything and add it from there.
YOUR RANKING TELLS YOU WHAT MOVED
The list marks what has climbed or slipped since you last looked. Every game's line reads "Your No. 7", so a position always comes with the work behind it.
A game's page now shows where it stands, what it runs on and what the world scored it, beside the cover instead of in a block underneath.
AND YOU CHOOSE THE COLOUR
Under You, in Language and colour, there are five accents — or a rule that takes the colour of whatever is at the top of your ranking, and changes when that does. The accent only ever marks what you measured yourself: your position, your pick, the tab you are on.
There is also a switch for the rating behind each position. It is off by default, and it is there for when the order looks wrong and you want to see why.
2.0.4 Aug 18
A PROPER START
Opening the app for the first time now begins with a grid of games you're likely to know. Tap the ones you've played and they become your first ranking straight away — no more staring at two games you've never heard of, wondering what you're supposed to do.
Don't recognise anything? Search for something else and it goes to the front of the grid. It's there when you need it again, too: reset your data or empty your rankings, and the grid is the way back in.
SIGNING IN KEEPS YOUR GAMES
Linking your account to Apple, Google or GitHub now keeps the same account instead of creating a second one, so everything you ranked before signing in comes with you. If that provider already belongs to another account, the app says so and asks first — and tells you exactly how much you'd be leaving behind.
WHAT CHANGED, IN THE APP
Updates now say what's new the first time you open a new version. The notes live in your profile, alongside the version number, together with every past release — and you can tell us whether an update was worth it.
SMALLER THINGS
• Every button that should give a little tap now does, at a consistent weight
• Some tidying behind the scenes, including a data request that fed nothing you could see
1.8.1 Aug 11
BETTER PAIRS, BETTER RANKINGS
The biggest change here is one you feel rather than see: Compare now decides which two games to put in front of you, instead of drawing at random.
Games already in your collection meet each other far more often, brand-new games taper off as your collection grows, and — the point of all of it — your top games finally face their real rivals instead of coasting on a couple of lucky wins.
FASTER RE-RANKING
Re-ranking a game used to throw five random opponents at it. Now it narrows down where the game belongs by halving the field each time, so it finds the right spot in fewer, better comparisons.
GAMES YOU ACTUALLY RECOGNISE
The new games Compare offers are drawn from a stricter pool, so your first pairs are less likely to be obscure titles you've never heard of.
A BIT MORE FEEL
Picking a game gives a gentle tap and marks your choice with a checkmark, so you can see what you chose before the next pair arrives.
FIXES
• Re-ranking no longer starts a session it has no opponents for
• Comparison cards keep the same size from one pair to the next
• Compare no longer gets stuck on "Loading comparison…"
• Discover's loading screen stays readable at the largest text sizes
• The app name no longer gets cut off on the sign-in screen
1.7.3 Aug 11
Three releases' worth of updates in one.
DISCOVER — recommendations that explain themselves
Rank 10 games and a new tab reads your ranking to suggest games you haven't played, each with a line on why it picked that one for you. Swipe through a batch of four: Interested saves it to your wishlist, Pass skips it, Already played it takes you straight to ranking. Want more? Tap "See more" — there's no daily limit. It also circles back on wishlist games you've been sitting on, to ask whether you ever gave them a go.
NOW IN SPANISH
Full Spanish translation, with a language picker in Settings so you can switch without changing your device language.
WISHLIST AND PROFILE HAVE MOVED
The tab bar now holds Compare, Rankings and Discover. Wishlist and Profile live behind the "More" button — same screens, one tap away.
SEARCH THAT FINDS WHAT YOU MEANT
• Words in any order: "zelda a link" now finds A Link to the Past
• Accents optional: "pokemon" finds Pokémon
• Numbers either way: "final fantasy 7" finds Final Fantasy VII
• Fewer duplicates, and results ordered by what you actually asked for
• Roughly twice as fast, with lighter cover art
ALSO
• Re-ranking redesigned, and it no longer traps you when a session can't start
• Empty screens now point you at what to do next
