Hardware decoding for ProRes and HEVC, a preflight check before every batch, P2 and AVCHD card support, and batch progress in the Dock and menu bar.
ProxyForge is a professional video proxy generator for editors, DITs, and post-production teams. Select camera media, choose an editing workflow, and create validated proxies without a command line.

- Stable-file watch folders for authorized local media
- Shortcuts actions to create proxies, start the queue, and scan watch folders
- One to four concurrent files with pause, resume, cancellation, disk monitoring, and a choice of failure handling
- Progress in the Dock and menu bar while the window is closed
- Markdown reports and JSON conformance manifests
ProxyForge scans MOV, MP4, MXF, MTS, and MKV containers, including P2 and AVCHD card structures. ProRes RAW MOV sources are decoded by macOS and streamed to the encoder without an intermediate file. RED R3D files are detected and reported but are not decoded because that requires RED's licensed tools.
Your media stays on your Mac. The ProxyForge app has no analytics, accounts, cloud processing, or network client entitlement.

ProxyForge 2.0 rebuilds the proxy engine for speed and reliability:
- Faster proxies from ProRes and HEVC camera originals. ProxyForge now decodes them in hardware and scales HEVC on the GPU; in our tests on Apple silicon, 4K ProRes and HEVC sources converted about twice as fast.
- Panasonic P2 cards: audio from the card's AUDIO folder is included in each clip's proxy. AVCHD card folders are now scanned.
- Preflight: before a batch starts, see every clip with its duration, a size estimate, existing proxies that will be skipped, audio-only or unreadable files, and camera formats ProxyForge does not process.
- A new processing view shows each file's progress, speed, and decode path, plus combined speed and time remaining.
- Keep working with the window closed. Batch progress shows in the Dock and the menu bar, where you can pause, resume, or reopen the window.
- Choose what happens when a file fails: ask each time, or continue and report at the end. Retry only the failed files from the completion summary.
- Drag source files or folders anywhere onto the window.
- A batch pauses before the destination runs out of space, and continues after you free some.
- Phone video recorded in portrait keeps its orientation and aspect ratio, and files with many audio tracks no longer stall.
All processing remains local on your Mac.
