Lead a small expedition from the Gulf Coast inland toward the great cities of the Valley of Mexico. Manage food, supplies, morale, and health as you navigate jungles, mountains, and contested territories. Every decision carries consequences — alliances can form or fracture, resources can vanish, and progress is never guaranteed.
The world reacts to your choices. Indigenous factions have their own goals, fears, and memories. Some may offer guidance or trade, while others resist intrusion or demand respect. Survival depends not on brute force alone, but on diplomacy, preparation, and restraint.
Events are dynamic and shaped by your situation. Weather, terrain, morale, and past actions influence what unfolds next, ensuring that no two journeys are the same. When the road grows long or conditions become dire, you may choose to press forward, take risks to regain lost ground, or slow down to protect your people.
Inspired by historical accounts of the era, The Aztec Trail approaches this period with care and nuance, presenting history as uncertain, human, and complex. There are no simple victories — only difficult choices and their lasting consequences.
