What's New in 1.7 • Stars, ratings and emoji – Star a file or give it 0–5 stars from the right-click menu or the keyboard. Add emoji to names or as tags with the built-in emoji picker, and search for "starred" or "files with emoji". • Smarter, safer search – Understands many more ways of asking, shows which parts of your request it applied (and lets you switch size and date filters off), and tells you exactly what a delete, trash or move will act on before anything happens. • Edit AI Insights – Change an image's AI summary, tags and related files. Your edits follow the file when you rename or move it, and you can undo them. • Change Image Format – Convert images from the right-click menu. A copy is made next to the original; the original is never overwritten. • Choose your columns – Right-click the Details header to show or hide columns. Sort by Tags, Rating and Star. • Safer networking – Self-signed WebDAV servers are now locked to the certificate you trusted (manage them in Settings ▸ Trusted Servers), and the SMB library has been updated with security fixes. • More reliable – Quitting now asks before interrupting a copy, Folder Sync is more careful with deletions, your selection stays put when you sort or rename.

jFile 1.4 puts file operations where you can see them. Every copy, duplicate, move and permanent delete now reports into one Transfer Queue window, with a Cancel button on each operation and a Cancel All for the lot. Renaming happens in place in Details view, the way it does in the Finder; permissions, the locked flag and the "downloaded from the internet" quarantine mark can be changed across a whole selection at once, optionally recursing into folders; and files on SMB shares open with a double-click instead of being treated as folders. Under the surface, Folder Sync got a thorough safety pass — deletions are verified before they happen, "Keep both" converges instead of multiplying copies, and hidden files sync consistently - while copies to external and encrypted drives run considerably faster.

jFile NLP can now optionally OCR-index your graphic and picture files, allowing such queries as 'pictures of people.' Regular Spotlight re-indexing can also be triggered on any Volume.
