- Safety Information
- This mobile application is designed to support the rehabilitation of adults recovering from a diagnosed spinal cord stretch injury of traumatic or ischemic origin. It serves as an adjunct to conventional rehabilitation and does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. All rehabilitation activities should be performed under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional, including a physician, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist. Users should not modify prescribed medications or rehabilitation plans without consulting their healthcare provider.
The application is intended only for medically stable individuals who meet the study's inclusion criteria. It should not be used during acute medical emergencies, intensive care admission, or when the patient experiences worsening neurological symptoms. Rehabilitation exercises should begin only after receiving medical clearance. If users experience sudden muscle weakness, loss of sensation, severe neck or back pain, difficulty breathing, chest pain, dizziness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or loss of consciousness, they should stop using the application immediately and seek emergency medical attention.
All exercises should be performed according to the user's physical abilities and prescribed rehabilitation plan. Activities should be started gradually and increased only as tolerated. Users should discontinue any exercise that causes severe pain, excessive fatigue, dizziness, or worsening neurological symptoms. Exercises should be performed in a safe environment free of obstacles, with appropriate assistive devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, or braces when recommended. Individuals at high risk of falls should perform standing or balance exercises only under caregiver or therapist supervision.
Patients with spinal cord injuries are at increased risk of pressure ulcers, muscle stiffness, spasticity, joint contractures, and reduced bone density. Users should inspect their skin regularly for redness or wounds, reposition themselves frequently, and avoid prolonged pressure on any body area. Exercises should not be performed over open wounds or infected skin. Adequate hydration, proper nutrition, and sufficient rest are essential to support recovery and reduce fatigue.
The application is contraindicated for individuals younger than 22 years of age, patients with non-traumatic spinal disorders such as tumors, arteriovenous malformations, or myelitis, severe traumatic brain injury affecting cognition, peripheral nerve lesions above the spinal injury level, dementia, significant intellectual disability, uncontrolled psychiatric illness, severe visual or hearing impairment without appropriate assistive technology, participation in conflicting clinical trials, or inability to comply with rehabilitation protocols. Pregnant individuals should consult their healthcare provider before participating if the rehabilitation program includes physical activity modules.
Users are responsible for following all instructions provided within the application and attending scheduled medical follow-up appointments. Any adverse events, including falls, injuries, increased pain, worsening neurological symptoms, or hospitalization, should be reported promptly to the treating healthcare team. Personal health information entered into the application should be protected by maintaining secure passwords and using trusted internet connections.
By using this application, participants acknowledge that rehabilitation outcomes vary among individuals and depend on adherence to prescribed therapy, medical supervision, and overall health status. Safe participation requires compliance with all safety precautions, immediate reporting of concerning symptoms, and ongoing communication with healthcare professionals throughout the rehabilitation process. - Instructions for Use
