Whohears: Last.fm Collector
Discover Songs Through Friends
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Your friends' music, as a collection you fill in.
Connect your Last.fm and Whohears builds you a Dex — a numbered wall of tracks the people you follow are playing that you haven't heard yet. Every card is greyed out until you catch it. Press play, and it turns to colour and keeps its number forever.
Rarity comes from how underground the artist actually is: Common down to Legendary, based on global listener counts. Rarer catches are worth more XP, and XP moves you up the collector ranks from Rookie to Legend.
Three new cards drop every day, so there's always a reason to come back — and a bonus for catching them the day they land.
No sign-up to start. Just your public Last.fm username.
more New: tracks from your friends, by email, once a week.
Whohears can now send you a short weekly email with a few tracks your Last.fm friends played that week and you've never played, checked against your whole listening history. It's optional: you're asked once, after a few catches, and nothing is sent until you confirm from your inbox. Unsubscribe from any email.
Fewer interruptions: Whohears now asks you at most one thing a day.

Opened a friend's Whohears card? You now see how your taste compares: the artists you both play, and a few tracks they love that you've never played, checked against your whole Last.fm history. Tap one to hear it. No account needed.
Cards for usernames with capital letters open again, instead of "Card Not Found".
A new welcome screen, with the new icon, shows how Whohears works in three quick steps.

New here? Your first tracks play in seconds.
While your collection is still being built, tracks from your
closest friends are already on Home, ready to play. Anything you
catch then is kept.
Typed your Last.fm username wrong? The first screen tells you
straight away.
"Keep going" now stays above the tab bar, where you can tap it.

Play from everyone, right on Home.
A new card under your closest friend plays tracks from all your
friends at once. Your level now sits next to your name.
Catching a track is smooth again: no more short freeze after each
catch. And your collection keeps finding new tracks after you've
caught everything on your wall.
Favorites and the leaderboard now live in your collection.

Meet your taste twins.
Catch 10 tracks from one friend and they become your taste twin.
Their folder opens in the new Friends tab, with everything of
theirs still to collect, and you can play just their tracks.
Home is new too: the friend you're closest to twinning with comes
first, then your latest catches and your collection.
New here? Home starts with three tracks from your closest friends.
Tap one and listen for 5 seconds to catch it.

Every track now tells you who it's from.
Each card opens on the friend who plays it — how many artists you share and how many times they've played it. A ring around the cover fills as you listen, so you can see the catch coming, and after each catch you'll see whose track is next.
The first load now shows which friends it's reading.
2.8.0 Oct 7
Sign in with Last.fm — that's the whole account now.
One tap on Last.fm's own sign-in claims your Dex and creates your Whohears account in the same go. No more Google or Apple sign-in, no separate "verify your Last.fm" step afterwards.
Already signed in with Google or Apple? Nothing changes for you: you stay signed in, and signing in with Last.fm later lands in the same account with the same Dex and card.
2.7.0 Sep 16
The Play button stops going grey.
If a refresh ever failed, your Dex looked empty — Play greyed out, nothing under Uncaught — while everything was still sitting on your phone. Your collection now survives a bad connection, and a failed refresh says so instead of hiding your wall.
You can also ask to be reminded. One notification a day, naming a track someone you follow is playing that you haven't caught yet. It's off until you turn it on, in your profile.
If you never got started, the feed now opens itself on your rarest uncaught card instead of waiting behind the Play button.
2.6.0 Sep 10
Your wall was hiding most of your Dex.
The grid only ever showed the cards you'd been handed - a few a day, while Play had thousands more waiting behind it. Now every track you can catch is on the wall too, loading as you scroll.
2.5.0 Sep 8
Rarity actually means something now.
Nearly three quarters of every Dex was labelled Common, which told you
almost nothing. Rarity is now measured against what people on Last.fm
actually listen to — so Rare, Epic and Legendary are real finds, and
worth more XP when you catch them. New cards use the new scale straight
away, and older uncaught ones update as you go. Nothing you've already
caught changes.
Favourites moved out of the filter row and got their own screen: tap
the star at the top. "New today" is gone — the header chip and the NEW
badges were already saying it twice. The grid now opens on what you
haven't caught yet.

Your Dex doesn't run out any more.
It used to stop at a couple of hundred tracks. Now it keeps going
through everything your friends play that you haven't heard.
Your total jumped because of it — the number now counts every track
waiting for you, not just the ones already on your wall. Nothing
was lost.
Star the ones you love. Long DJ sets stay out of the feed.
New app icon.

Compatibility scores are properly calibrated. They used to cluster near the top so nearly everyone looked like a perfect match — expect lower but far more meaningful numbers now.
Track suggestions from other listeners now favour artists you already listen to.
2.2.1 Aug 21
• Swipe and listen — tracks now play automatically, including
YouTube-only ones. Five seconds catches a card.
• New leaderboard — tap the trophy to see who's catching the most.
• The feed mixes up who you hear from, instead of one friend at a time.
• More cover art, and long titles finally fit.
• Your stats now show your real library size.
2.2.0 Aug 16
Your Dex now plays itself.
Tap Play and the tracks your friends are listening to come at you one at a time, full screen, already playing. Listen for a few seconds and the card is yours — it turns from grey to colour and keeps its number forever. Swipe up for the next one. No buttons, no waiting.
Your Last.fm friends' music becomes a numbered wall you fill in by listening. Rarer artists are worth more XP and move you up the collector ranks. Three new cards drop every day, with a bonus for catching them the day they land.
No account needed. Your collection is saved to your Last.fm username and follows you between devices.
