A minimalist weather app that turns the sky into full-screen, generative art. Drawn live, never looped. Quiet by default, detailed when you want it. No ads.
Spectra is a minimalist weather app that renders live conditions as full-screen, generative visualizations. No icons, no charts, no clutter. Powered by Apple WeatherKit, with precise data one swipe away.
ATMOSPHERIC VISUALIZATIONS
Every condition becomes a distinct, full-screen animation:
- CLEAR: a halftone field of dots, lit from the center
- RAIN: dynamic precipitation lines
- CLOUDS: a drifting noise-field atmosphere
- WIND: vortex topology
- SNOW: slow particle descent
- THUNDER: branching lightning vectors
- STORM: vertical bands of bars, flashing in unison with each strike
- HEAT: rising thermal plumes
NEVER THE SAME TWICE
Nothing here is a looping video. Each scene is drawn in real time from the weather outside, so rain at 2 mm/h looks nothing like rain at 15 mm/h, and the picture shifts as conditions do.
TIME-AWARE
Clear-sky visuals follow the sun. A bright glow at sunrise opens into a ring of light by midday, then eases toward twilight and night.
THE DATA, WHEN YOU WANT IT
Swipe up for precise local readings from Apple WeatherKit:
- Temperature and feels-like
- Hourly forecast
- 7-day outlook
- Wind speed and precipitation
- Sunrise and sunset
Free for everyone.
ALWAYS ON
Plug in, and Spectra becomes a desk display. The screen stays lit, the time sits beside your location, and the scene keeps moving. It dims after a minute and wakes on touch. Optional, and only while charging.
WIDGETS
- An extra-large widget for iOS 27, with the scene on top and the hourly forecast or full conditions beneath. Your choice, editable from the Home Screen.
- A StandBy layout with sunrise, sunset, and coordinates, drawn for the nightstand.
- A full-screen scene widget that mirrors the live visualization
- A compact HUD with current conditions
- An hourly forecast at a glance
- Lock Screen: current conditions, or the next few hours
Free for everyone.

A very clean and accurate weather app. I hope it doesn’t turn into a subscription. My gripes are the time format. I see settings to change the metrics of some things, but not the time. That’s a bit odd with everything else this app offers. I don’t do 24-hour time format. Please allow 12.Also, add a widget that shows the current weather along with the weekly weather in one widget.
So what’s premium…?
x B0B x
I legit bought to get the detailed info. I’m colorblind, so the color component doesn’t do too much for me, but the detailed info added a lot of value. What exactly is the point of premium now? Like an extra animation and color? That’s a hard stretch for premium, and not much to offer those of us that gave early support.
Pretty cool for what it is
T16Skyhopper
It’s a minimalist app, so don’t expect rain percentage or moon phase. Honestly, I would love for all of my apps to share a similar design.
IPHONE DUO
Unfolded, the scene fills the left and the data sits on the right. Folded, Spectra turns to landscape for tent pose, with each scene reworked for the shorter screen.
CLEAR, REDRAWN
Clear is a halftone field of light. A bright, merged glow in the morning opens into a ring by midday.
STORM, REDRAWN
Storm is a set of vertical bands. When lightning strikes, blocks across the bands flash together and hold still.
TRADITIONAL CHINESE
Spectra speaks Traditional Chinese, written for readers in Taiwan.
