Joining your partner takes fewer steps now. If they sent you an invite code, you can enter it while you sign up. You're connected as soon as your account is ready, and you skip the pairing steps. If you open their invite link instead, the code is filled in for you. Also in this update: - Open the widget gallery from the Countdown tab and it starts on the Countdown widget. Long Distance has a new name and a new look, and there's a cat now. On the App Store we're Long Distance: Your Couple App, because it's for every couple. Your Home Screen still says Long Distance. We redrew every screen in warm amber. The cat says hello when you sign in and turns up again when you finish a quiz. The app icon is a close-up of its face, and Premium adds two more cat icons, Sweetheart and Peekaboo, in More > Appearance > App Icon. Quiz is a new tab. There are 15 quizzes in five topics, 10 questions each. You answer on your phone, your person answers on theirs, and neither of you sees the other's answers until you've both finished. Then Result puts your answers side by side. We'll let you know when it's your turn, and you can nudge them when it's theirs. One quiz in every topic is free. Shared Note is new too. It's one note for the two of you, for the stuff you'd otherwise text each other and lose. Change it, tap send, and it shows up on their Shared Note widget. The widget comes in every Home Screen size and on the Lock Screen. The Distance tab has its own widget now. Medium and Large put both your photos over the earth at night, with both cities and both local times. The Lock Screen one draws a little route between your cities. Every countdown is a full-photo card, and with Premium the photo can be one of yours. A switch at the top moves between Upcoming and Memories, and memories turn black and white. Your partner's birthday also stopped calling itself "Your birthday" on your phone. Inviting your person used to take five screens. Now it takes one. Your code is there the moment the screen opens, sharing is a single tap, and if someone sends you a link the code arrives already filled in. New art behind your countdowns. If you haven't put your own photo on a card, it now sits on one of four painted landscapes instead of the old stock shots — a path through tall hedges to a blossom tree, flowering hills, a swing hanging from an old oak. We also thinned the frosting over countdown photos, so whatever's back there actually comes through instead of sitting behind glass. And if you missed the tour last update, it comes round once more.

Your countdown photos can move now. Open a countdown, turn on Morphing photo, and the picture slowly warps and folds like it's underwater, then settles back to how it was. It's off unless you switch it on, and it's per card, so only the ones you pick will do it. The upgrade screen got the same treatment - a photo drifting behind everything, plus a few hearts you can flick around while you read. Also in this update: the banners dotted around the app now sit on slow-moving colour instead of flat blocks, and the whole thing runs lighter on your battery than it looks.

Light mode is here. Settings › Appearance now has System, Light and Dark, so the app can sit on your phone the way everything else does instead of always being dark. Moods and doodles are free. Every single one — the six-per-category limit is gone, so you can dress up your half of the widget as often as you like. Premium still unlocks the animated mascots. Never quite got the widget onto your home screen? There's a walkthrough now. It stands a phone on screen and shows you where to long-press, which size to pick and what to search for. Look for "How to add widget" on the canvas or in Settings. Also in this update: a rebuilt intro that shows each feature inside a real phone instead of a flat card, and you can replay it any time from Settings. Onboarding, the widget guide and the upgrade screen are now translated into every language the app speaks.

Countdown is here. Every date you’re both waiting for — the next visit, your anniversary, the flight home — now has its own tab, and you both see the same number of days. Adding one takes a couple of taps, and there are presets for the dates most couples are counting toward. When the day finally arrives, the card celebrates instead of sitting at zero. You can also see who changed a countdown last, with their photo beside it. Put one on your home screen or lock screen and the number is simply there every time you pick up your phone. Pin whichever one matters most. Also in this update: a new app icon, and photos on your widget come through noticeably sharper.

Distance is here. One globe, both of you — your two pins, the line between, each local time, and exactly how far apart you are right now. Ghost Mode hides you whenever you want. Your pin turns into a ghost and your person stops seeing where you are, until you switch it back off. Only your partner sees your city. It goes into your shared session, nobody else can reach it, and it leaves with you when you unpair. Also in this update: the drawing tools stay out of the way while you sketch, and both pins now show the moment the globe opens.

Two new faces this update: Mira and Vega. Between them, 21 new animations of ordinary days. Coffee, laundry, the commute, the gym, a long soak, a sick day. Pick whoever fits, and your person sees it on their widget. The picker is tidier too, so you can move between Mira, Vega and Lumo without scrolling past everything else. And your status message now clears when you send a new one, instead of sticking around.

Pairing is the big one this update. Instead of reading a code out loud, you send one invite link. It opens the app with the code already filled in, and your person sees your name and photo before joining, so they know it’s really you. While you wait, there’s a canvas ready. Draw something, it’s the first thing they’ll see. Plus a few small touch-ups to keep everything smooth.

Your snaps just learned a new trick: animated illustrations. Pick from 21 cute little characters and send one along with your drawing or photo — it comes to life on the canvas, in your gallery, and right on your person's home screen widget. Choosing an overlay is nicer now too. The little dots under the canvas are gone — in their place, tappable chips for message, greeting, weather, location, clock, and the new Animated mode, so you can jump straight to the one you want. Plus a few small touch-ups to keep everything smooth.

There's a little celebration now when you unlock premium, and a limited-time yearly deal that might just pop up for you and your person. Keep an eye out. Sending from the mascot tab is quicker, you'll get a friendly heads-up when you're down to your last free snap of the day, and the canvas no longer jumps to the editor while you're taking a photo. Translations also got a proper tune-up in all eight languages.

Your doodles have company. You can now send a mood too. Pick the one that matches how you're feeling and it lands on their home screen. You can also give your side of the widget a color. Use one of the presets or pick your own. Your partner styles their side. Plus a few small fixes.

Say it without words. Pick an animated mascot — a little heart that acts out how you're feeling — and send it straight to your partner's Home Screen. Whether you're grabbing food, half-asleep, dancing, heading to work, deep in study, or just waving good morning, there's a mascot for the moment. Browse them by mood — Greetings, Food & Drink, Rest, Active, Focus — tap one, and it shows up animated on their widget. Plus small fixes throughout.

Snaps can carry a place now. Take a photo, swipe to the new Location tag, and it shows the street and city you're in, so your person knows where you were when you missed them. Settings also got cleaned up: there's a Clear Cache button when you need to free space, plus a simpler layout and softer colors. Small fixes throughout.

Long Distance now works in three more languages: French, German, and Dutch. If that's how you and your person talk, the whole app should feel a lot more at home. We also fixed a few bugs and tidied things up so everything runs a bit smoother. Thanks for using Long Distance, and keep the feedback coming, it really does shape what we build next.

Both cameras fire at once now. Your face and whatever you're looking at, in the same photo. Line up your shot and the second camera tucks into the corner, rounded so it nests into the canvas. What you see in the preview is exactly what gets saved. Snap it and it goes straight to your person, into your shared gallery and onto the widget like always. Draw on it, drop it into a Share card, or just let it sit there being cute.

Your gallery just got a Share button. Tap it on any snap and a new editor opens up. Your photo lands inside a 9:16 Polaroid frame, with the post’s tag (greeting, clock, or custom message) and your name, date, and time printed in the white space below. Add washi tape across the top if you feel like it, or skip it. Pick from a few gradient backgrounds, or pick your own solid color. Everything updates live while you fiddle. Film grain, a small ‘Made with Long Distance’ mark, export as PNG through the share sheet. Send it to your person, post it on stories, set it as a lock screen, whatever you want.

Realtime Canvas now includes coloring templates. Pick a page, color together live, and watch every stroke show up instantly for your person. We also tightened reconnect behavior and in-canvas controls, so sessions feel steadier when you jump back into the app.
