  • Clearwaves is a software accessory to the Vive Health Hearing Aids product line, an over-the-counter air-conduction hearing aid. It lets adults 18 years of age or older with perceived mild to moderate hearing impairment adjust the settings of their own hearing aids over Bluetooth, including volume, left/right balance, preset listening modes (Standard, Outdoor, Indoor), sound enhancement, and noise reduction. Clearwaves does not amplify or process sound itself, does not perform hearing tests or self-fitting, and does not diagnose or treat any condition. It is intended for direct-to-consumer use without the assistance of a hearing care professional.

DO NOT USE / SEE A DOCTOR FIRST
Not for use by anyone under 18 years of age. People under 18 with hearing loss should see a doctor, preferably an ear-nose-throat doctor (ENT), because they may need medical testing and management. See a doctor before use if you have any of the following: an ear with a birth defect or unusual shape, or an ear injured or deformed in an accident; blood, pus, or fluid coming from your ear in the past 6 months; ear pain or discomfort; a lot of earwax, or you think something may be in your ear; significant dizziness or a feeling of spinning or swaying (vertigo); hearing that changed suddenly in the past 6 months; hearing that gets worse, then better again; worse hearing in one ear; or ringing or buzzing in only one ear.

    WARNINGS
This device is not hearing protection. Remove it in loud environments and use proper hearing protection instead. In general, if you would use ear plugs in a loud place, remove this device and use ear plugs.

Sound output should not be uncomfortable or painful. Turn the volume down or remove the device if the sound output is uncomfortably loud or painful. If you consistently need to turn the volume down, the device may need further adjustment. In some acoustic environments, over-amplification can cause discomfort and damage to your hearing. Call and music audio is also amplified according to the hearing aid standard — set the volume to a normal listening level to prevent further hearing loss.

This hearing aid should not cause pain when inserted. Remove the device from your ear if it causes pain or discomfort during insertion or placement. Review the instructions and try again. If pain or discomfort returns, contact the manufacturer. If pain or discomfort does not go away, contact a hearing healthcare professional.

If any part of the hearing aid, such as a dome, becomes stuck in your ear and you cannot easily remove it with your fingers, get medical help as soon as possible. Do not use tweezers or cotton swabs — they can push the part farther into your ear and seriously injure your eardrum or ear canal.

This product contains magnetic material. Consult your physician about whether this may affect any implantable medical device you have. Remove the hearing aids before CT scans, MRI scans, or other electromagnetic procedures.

Never leave hearing aids or batteries where small children or pets can reach them. If batteries are swallowed or inhaled, contact your local poison control center immediately. This product contains small parts that can be a choking hazard.

Do not use in explosive or oxygen-enriched atmospheres. Do not disassemble, remodel, or repair the device yourself. Do not use deformed or visibly damaged hearing aids. Charge only with the approved charging case and cable. Protect the device from extreme heat and direct sunlight. Do not expose the product to water, liquids, or moisture. Never put hearing aids in your mouth. Do not use while sleeping. Do not use the hearing aids without the supplied domes attached. Do not share your hearing aids with other people.

    PRECAUTIONS
Read the full owner's manual before use to ensure personal safety and correct use. Contact the manufacturer for support if you experience unexpected operation or performance.

Allergic reactions to hearing aids are unlikely, but if you experience itching, redness, soreness, inflammation, or a burning sensation in or around your ears, stop use and contact your physician or hearing healthcare provider. You may notice accelerated earwax buildup while using hearing aids; this is normal, but see your hearing healthcare provider if difficulties continue.

This product will not restore normal hearing and will not prevent or improve hearing impairment resulting from organic conditions. You may still have difficulty hearing over noise. Many people need a few weeks to get used to hearing aids. If you try this device and continue to struggle with or remain concerned about your hearing, consult a hearing healthcare professional.

Proper set-up and operation of your hearing aids requires a safe, private, and secure operating environment. Guidance on online security is available at https://consumer.ftc.gov/online-security.
