StoryWink: Kids Bedtime Books
Stories starring your child
Free · In‑App Purchases
You still read the bedtime story. It’s just new every night, and your kid is in it. Tell StoryWink who the story is for, with a name, a look and the things they love, and it uses AI to write and illustrate a story made for that one child. Then you curl up and read it together, or let a calm voice read it aloud.

more A small maintenance update. StoryWink works just as before.
1.6.1 2d ago
Shared stories now open as the whole story, pictures and all, in any web browser. Grandparents on Android or a computer can read along without installing anything, and the page appears in the story's own language.
We also ask for a rating at a better moment, and fixed small things along the way.
1.6 Oct 15
Stories in your “Shared with you” section now use the same cards as your own stories.
When you choose a rhyming story, the “Ready to create!” summary now simply shows “Rhyming story: Yes”.
At larger text sizes, the screen you see while your story is being written now wraps its text instead of cutting it off, and scrolls when it needs more room.
1.5.2 Sep 26
This update fixes a crash that could close the app while you were reading.
The story cover now fades softly into the page instead of stopping at a hard edge, and the story's first line sits closer beneath it.
1.5.1 Sep 20
Stories are written by a newer model with a rewritten brief, and it shows: the ending matches the mood you chose, a Silly story stays silly to the last line, a Brave one ends awake and proud, and only a Sleepy story winds down to bed. Sentences are a better fit for the age you pick, and the pictures follow the story more closely.
Rhyming stories are here. For ages 1-2 and 3-4 there is a switch right under the age, so you can ask for bouncy verse instead of prose. Stories for ages 1-2 are always short.
Stories now come in whatever language your iPhone or iPad is set to, not just the eight the app itself speaks.
A story's price is settled the moment it is written. Premium art styles are paid for once, with the story, so a picture that has to be drawn again never costs anything extra, and updating a story's language tells you what it will cost before you agree.
1.5 Sep 18
NEW
• Keep a story someone sent you. Open a shared story and tap Save Story, and it stays in your library alongside your own.
IMPROVED
• Stories now match the age you choose. Sentences are shorter and simpler for younger listeners, and longer for older ones — pick "Any Age" and it's pitched to the youngest child who might be listening.
• The pictures in a story vary more. The cover and the pages inside no longer come out looking like the same scene twice.
• Rhyming stories now have a refrain — a line that comes back through the story, so your child can join in on it.
• Stories for toddlers are always short now. Ten minutes of rhyme is longer than a one- or two-year-old sits still.
FIXED
• The keyboard no longer sits on top of the screen while your story is being written.
• Cover art fills the top of the reader properly. It was being cropped and darkened at the bottom, and the title was large enough to cover your child's face — the title is smaller now and sits below them.
• On iPad, the cover image lines up with the story text instead of running wider than it.
1.4 Sep 11
• Story text now opens at a friendlier size, and you can set it smaller than before if you like more words on a page.
• On iPad, Listen to Story, Share Story and the subscription screen now fill the display instead of floating above the story.
• At the largest accessibility text sizes, the reader drops the decorative first letter so the words have room.
• When someone shares a story with you, the end of it now offers a button to make your own.
• Pictures now follow the appearance you describe more closely, including hair texture, clothing and mobility aids.
1.3.1 Sep 10
• Audio narration now works for longer stories in every language. Long stories in Japanese and Chinese could previously fail to generate audio.
• Illustrations arrive more reliably, and a slow picture no longer holds up the rest of the story.
• Tips can now be turned off, or reset, in Settings.
• Clearer wording when a story uses your last credit.
• Various fixes and polish throughout.
1.3 Sep 8
Every story now shows what it costs before you make it, and the star badges on themes and art styles say what they mean. If you cannot afford a story, you find that out up front rather than after answering every question — and the button offers you credits instead of doing nothing when you tap it.
While a picture is still being painted, the page says so — illustrations sometimes take a few minutes, and a waiting space no longer looks like something has gone wrong.
Hints used to reappear every time you made a story. They now arrive one at a time and stop once you have seen them.
On iPad with iPadOS 18 or later, Settings, story creation and the plans screen open much larger instead of a small card in the middle, so far more of the theme and style choices fit at once.
The plans screen is clearer about which option is a subscription and which is a one-off pack, and shows the price per credit for both.
Text is easier to read throughout, the consent screen no longer cuts off its own wording, and the age ranges no longer overlap.
1.2.4 Sep 7
On iPad, a story being created no longer appears in your library with a blank cover before it is finished. It joins the library when the story opens.
1.2.3 Sep 5
Illustrations are more reliable: pictures that used to stall or need a retry now arrive on their own. Your story waits briefly for its cover before opening, so the first page looks finished. Also fixed a brief flash of the library when a new story opened, and a rare case where a picture arriving during narration was lost.
1.2.2 Sep 4
A picture that fails to draw is now redrawn automatically in the background, and the page keeps its place until it arrives. If a picture really can't be drawn, the story now says so where the picture belongs, with a Retry button.
1.2.1 Sep 3
• Consistent illustrations: your child now looks the same on every page, drawn from the cover picture
• Family Sharing: your subscription now covers the whole family
• A big accessibility upgrade: stories work with VoiceOver, text follows your system reading size, animations respect Reduce Motion, and colors meet contrast standards
• Contact Support from Settings, and report a shared story right from the reader
• A fresh welcome: the StoryWink logo greets you on the feature tour, with refreshed artwork
• Smoother story creation and clearer subscription terms
• More reliable cleanup of server-side illustrations when deleting stories
1.2 Sep 2
• Scrolling while choosing a scene for your story is now perfectly smooth
• Small visual polish in the Listen to Story panel
1.1.2 Aug 31
This update fixes things early readers told us about:
• Rhyming stories now read like real verse — lines wrap the way poems do in printed books
• Choosing a scene for your story no longer fights your scrolling
• Story narration now says how long it takes, and you can close the panel while it finishes — playback starts on its own
• Sharing a story is now free
• Your credit count updates immediately and stays accurate
1.1.1 Aug 30
This update is about how StoryWink looks and feels:
• A new night-sky look throughout, and the reader now opens in night mode.
• A short tour the first time you open the app, and no extra screen between tapping New Story and answering the first question.
• Made for iPad. Text, artwork and layout now size properly on a large screen.
• The long form now shows which art styles and scenes cost extra credits, the way the guided flow always has.
• Text that was still appearing in English now shows in all eight languages.
• Fixed: a story that took a long time to write could stop early and spend a credit without giving you anything.
• Fixed: prices, settings and buttons that were hard to read against the new background.
1.1 Aug 28
This update is about the stories:
• Fixed stories that came out far too short.
• Richer, more detailed writing throughout.
• If a story ever comes back wrong, StoryWink quietly writes it again — and never charges you for the attempt that failed.
1.0.3 Aug 25
This update is about privacy and getting your descriptions into the pictures:
• New: Delete All Stories & Data. Remove every story from this device and the illustrations kept on StoryWink's servers, right from Settings.
• Illustrations now use every detail you write. Freckles, braids, a favorite outfit — and descriptions written in any language — reach the artwork instead of being quietly skipped.
• Clearer, warmer wording throughout, and better German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Chinese translations.
• Fixed shared story links sending people to the wrong App Store page.
1.0.2 Aug 24
This update improves how illustrations are created and shared:
• Pictures no longer contain stray text
• Shared stories now include their illustrations
• Fewer stories end before they finish
• Slow illustrations now complete reliably
1.0.1 Aug 22
A small maintenance update. StoryWink works just as before.
