Type [[ to pick any note, captioned figures for reports, and one stylesheet across every export. Markdown that exports properly. Vega charts and a real terminal emulator!
cyberWriter is a privacy-first Markdown editor for Mac. Write in plain text, watch it render live, and export to PDF, Word, or HTML with no Pandoc, no LaTeX install, and no terminal. It is built for the documents people actually have to send: reports with images, captions, references, and page breaks that land where you put them.
Your notes live in a vault where they link to each other, so a single document can quietly grow into a knowledge base. Local and cloud AI connectors are built in: use Apple Intelligence on-device, or bring your own keys for Claude, OpenAI, or a model running on your Mac. Unlike most Markdown editors, cyberWriter does not run with full system access or rely on community plugins. Your files stay yours.
WRITE ANYWHERE, EXPORT EVERYWHERE
Type in plain Markdown and watch the preview update beside you, or write in the rich-text view with live tables, charts, math, and diagrams. Export to PDF with custom themes, page numbers, and real page breaks; to self-contained HTML; or to Word with diagrams embedded. Everything renders correctly in the file you send, not just on screen.
FIGURES, CAPTIONS, AND PAGE BREAKS
An image on its own line becomes a captioned figure, with optional automatic numbering that survives reordering. Insert a page break where you want one. The result reads like a document, not a printout of a text file.
YOUR NOTES, LINKED TOGETHER
Open any existing Markdown vault or start fresh. Type [[ and pick from your notes; tags, backlinks, hover previews, and file embeds all work out of the box. An interactive 3D knowledge graph shows how your notes connect, so ideas do not get lost.
AI THAT KNOWS YOUR CONTEXT
Chat with your full vault as context. Use Apple Intelligence for on-device privacy, or connect Claude, OpenAI, Ollama, MLX, and more with your own keys. Ask it to draft, rewrite, summarize, or explain, right inside the document you are working in. Indexing your vault for AI is opt-in, and your keys live in the macOS Keychain, never in your files.
DIAGRAMS, MATH, CHARTS, AND MEDIA
Embed audio, video, PDF, CSV, and YouTube links with ![[file]]. Add Mermaid diagrams, KaTeX equations, or Vega-Lite charts bound to data files in your vault. All of it renders in every export format, not just the preview.
DRAWINGS AND LIVE DATA
A full Excalidraw whiteboard, offline and private, with sketches you can embed in notes and export anywhere. Drop an api block into a note, click Run, and the response renders as a table that exports with the document.
SLIDES AND FLASH CARDS
Split any document into a slideshow with --- or heading sections, or flip it into spaced-repetition flash cards using ??? for question and answer pairs. No extra app: presentations and study sessions live inside your vault.
VOICE NOTES THAT STAY PUT
Record voice notes, dictate live, or transcribe recordings after the fact, all on-device. Audio embeds next to its transcript, so context never gets separated from the words it produced.
MAKE IT YOURS
Editor and document themes, or write your own CSS once and have it style every preview and every export.
BUILT FOR BIG VAULTS
Multi-thousand-file vaults scroll, search, and index smoothly, with background indexing that stays out of your way.

Powerful Markdown editor with near Desktop Publishing capabilities
petewi
cyberWriter is an integrated package that offers Markdown, diagrams, local AI integration, and slide presentation. As a Markdown editor, it's pretty good, but it needs a bit more to be great. It needs to understand that typing 1. or - is the start of a list. It then needs to keep the list ordered correctly. As presented, numbering a list is a manual process. The diagram integration is a very nice feature. From the demo, you can see some desktop publishing capabilities. But, the most work needs to happen in the document manager section. There is no ability to reorder documents, create folders, delete a file, or truly organize the vault. You have to exit out of cyberWriter, find the folder, and do the work in Finder. Totally possible, but not convenient. The AI integration is a great idea. Not just Apple Intelligence, but local LM Studio or cloud services. As the developer states, if you want to keep everything local, this is a great offering.cyberWriter is good and well on its way to being amazing. The themes, the layout, and tools offer a very attractive package. With a few writing enhancements and some file management, this will be a complete writing studio.
FRONT MATTER IN TOML
Notes that open with a +++ block - the form Hugo and Zola write - are now read like any other. The block stays out of the note, its fields are editable in Properties, and an edit writes TOML back rather than converting your file to YAML.
Try the GLOW Terminal Demo ! Type demo in the terminal
GLOW COMPLETES NOTE NAMES
On the vault terminal, TAB now finishes an @note reference as well as a path, including names with spaces. Attaching a note to an AI turn no longer means typing it exactly.
Plus fixes and polish throughout.
