The first app to help against AI voice clone scams. Callers say your group's three rotating codewords first; you compare privately. Need more proof? Send a Proofie™.
Available for use in 11 Languages!
HOW IT WORKS
Your family, friends or team share three private codewords. They change every 60 seconds and are the same on every phone in the group. If someone calls or messages claiming to be one of you and asks for money or private information, ask them to say all three words first. Then check them privately on your own phone, and never read your words out to them. If the words don't match, hang up. If they do match, it's a strong sign the caller has your group's app.
Codewords are generated on your phone.
They never touch our servers and they work offline. Because they change every 60 seconds, words someone overhears soon stop working.
SET UP IN 60 SECONDS
Download Trust Onion.
Create a group, or join one with an invite code or QR scan.
Everyone in the group sees the same three words.
You don't need an account for basic use, and there are no passwords to remember.
WHEN YOU NEED MORE PROOF, ASK FOR A PROOFIE™
A Proofie™ is a selfie signed with your passkey after you unlock with Face ID, fingerprint or your device passcode. The signature covers the photo, the time and your location. If anyone edits the photo afterwards, it fails verification. You can request a Proofie from anyone in your group. Then verify it in the app by checking that its signing key matches that person's key in your group.
ALSO IN THE APP
Safety Center: how voice clone scams work, what to watch for and what to do if one happens to you.
Text Message Checker: paste a suspicious message to see its warning signs. It runs on your phone and nothing you paste is stored.
BUILT FOR PRIVACY
Codewords are created on your device and never sent to us.
Face ID and fingerprint data stay on your phone.
We don't sell data.
Proofie™ photos and their signed details (Face ID/biometric completed, time and location) can be set to be public (anyone with the link), with a password, or set to self destruct after a certain amount of time.
WHO IT'S FOR
Families who've seen the voice cloning headlines and want a plan.
Teams whose members could be impersonated to get money or access.
Adult children worried about scam calls to aging parents.
Anyone who wants a simple way to check that a caller is really who they say they are.
I downloaded this a few weeks ago and while we haven't had to use it during an emergency (thankfully) it was super easy to set up with my older parents so that we have a “family group” and changing passwords. I even checked and it worked when it was in plane mode. It’s free, it works, so definitely recommend if you are worried about family getting scam calls/texts.
