New in 7.0: click any device to see its real speed, what your cable can do and full port diagnostics – plus a live Power Monitor for your Mac. DriveBar shows every drive, hub and Thunderbolt device right in your menu bar – how fast it really runs, which cable it uses and whether anything is holding it back. Eject safely with one click, and look deeper whenever you need to. • External SSDs, USB sticks, hubs and Thunderbolt devices at a glance • The real link speed – USB 2 480 Mb/s, USB 3 5/10/20 Gb/s, Thunderbolt 40 Gb/s • Instantly spot a slow cable, hub or adapter • Detail panel for every device: speed check, cable, port and diagnostics • Live Power Monitor with your power adapter and battery at a glance • Safe eject, Eject All, and Eject All and Sleep • Clean hidden .DS_Store files and eject in one step • Widget for your desktop or Notification Center IS IT REALLY RUNNING AT FULL SPEED? DriveBar reads the speed your devices actually negotiated – not the number on the box. Click a device and the detail panel tells you in plain words: “Running at full speed (10 Gb/s)” – or “Only running at USB 2 speed”, together with the likely cause, like a USB 2 cable or a hub. Plug your drive into another port or swap the cable and see the difference right away. KNOW YOUR CABLES Many USB-C cables carry a small chip that says what they can do. DriveBar reads it and shows the cable’s data rate, whether it handles 3 A or 5 A, its maximum wattage and its manufacturer – plus which port on your Mac it’s plugged into and which connection is active: USB 2, USB 3, Thunderbolt / USB4 or DisplayPort. DIAGNOSTICS FOR THE CURIOUS Open Diagnostics to see which connection types a port supports and which are active, how often something was plugged in, overcurrent events, and whether your Mac has detected liquid in the port. Handy for loose connections or a drive that keeps disconnecting. POWER MONITOR Click the power row to watch how much power your Mac is drawing, live, with a two-minute chart. DriveBar shows your power adapter’s real name, its rated power and every power level it offers, including the one in use right now. On battery you see the current draw and the time remaining; the battery section adds the charge level, maximum capacity and cycle count. YOUR VOLUMES, NEATLY LISTED All mounted external volumes appear with their size, colour-coded for drives, Time Machine and network volumes. Internal system volumes, simulators and small installer disk images are filtered out automatically, and Time Machine and backup volumes can be hidden too. In the detail panel you also see free space and the file system, and which device each volume lives on. SAFE EJECT WITH FEEDBACK Eject a single volume, all of them at once, or all of them and put your Mac to sleep – perfect before you close your MacBook. If a volume is still in use, DriveBar shows the reason and offers to force the eject. A notification confirms when it’s safe to unplug. CLEAN BEFORE YOU UNPLUG macOS leaves hidden .DS_Store files on your drives. DriveBar removes them and ejects the volume in a single step – ideal for sticks and cards you use with Windows, TVs, car stereos or clients. MADE FOR THE MENU BAR • Lives in the menu bar – no windows on your desktop • Compact, easy-to-scan layout with optional coloured icons • Window backgrounds: Standard, Transparent, Dark Glass, Solid and Liquid Glass on macOS Tahoe • Launch at login • In English, German, Spanish, French and Italian PRIVATE BY DESIGN DriveBar reads device, cable, power adapter and battery information locally through macOS and runs in the App Sandbox. It makes no network connections, has no account, collects no analytics and sends none of your data anywhere. If you work with external SSDs, docks, hubs or Thunderbolt storage and want the speed you paid for, DriveBar is the small menu bar utility you’ll keep running all the time.
