This update is about library reliability: • Your library now always loads. Some readers saw an empty shelf even though their books were safe — that can't happen anymore. • Re-adding a book you'd removed works again, and brings it back with its reading history. • Fixed a rare issue where retrying a failed add could remove a book from your shelf. Fixed: your free trial could start the moment you signed up, before you'd even added a book. Now it only starts when you actually start one, and you'll see exactly what you're getting first. Also new: a getting-started checklist on Home, faster barcode scanning, and shelf photos and Goodreads/StoryGraph imports now let you mark books you've already read.

ERAS • New Eras timeline: your books plotted by when their stories take place, from antiquity to the future. Find it in Discover → Browse. • Finishing a book now shows where it lands on the atlas and the era timeline. • Books with more than one story strand now name the strand — "The Captive's Tale" rather than "second timeline". READING • The EPUB reader was rebuilt for reliability and gained an AI reading companion that discusses the passage you are reading. • The Frye atlas is now a measured wheel with named mode bands. POETRY • A poem reader with drag-to-select passage saving, a reading rotation, and lines by heart. • Complete works added for Pope, Keats, Blake, Donne, Whitman, Dickinson, Shakespeare's sonnets, and more — every poem scored for difficulty. • Poetry lives in its own Discover sub-tab with an author lens and a daily poem rail. ANATOMY OF CRITICISM • New section: interactive essays, the wheel of literature, a four-axis classifier for any book, and a glossary. FIXES • Star ratings now save reliably. • Expired sessions recover instead of failing every request. • Fixed a poem reader crash, an onboarding stall, and the 100 Best list stopping at #17. • Links in emails open in the app instead of Safari, and land on the screen they name. • Finishing onboarding is recorded as finished, including after a Goodreads import.

Home screen and lock screen widgets drop the ring visuals for a Daily Goal design: pages read against your target, at a glance. The dashboard replaces its ring with a book pace projection — when you'll finish, at your current rate. Widgets pick books with a relevance score instead of showing whatever's on top, and you can choose which book a widget tracks. The Action button now opens straight into page logging, with book switching built in, so you can log a page without unlocking to the right screen first. Point the camera at a shelf and every spine on it gets added to your library in one pass. The Notebook tab is now Quotes on iPhone. Quote and character recall are swipeable card decks instead of static lists. Fixed: the app no longer loses your place on the dashboard when it goes to the background. Completion flow resumes correctly if interrupted. Retroactive reads no longer count toward today's stats. Onboarding Skip no longer double-counts as completion. Accessibility, light-mode contrast, and iPad layout got a pass across every screen.

Finish a book and a cast list appears on its page — every character with their role and a short description. A full roster screen lists the whole cast, and a recall deck lets you test yourself on who was who. The Reading Wiki builds as you read. Each book gets a synthesis. Author arcs update at 80% progress and again on completion. Concept pages collect the ideas a book names and links them across your library. Debrief questions on finishing a book are now written for that book and ask you to elaborate your own reading, not pick from a fixed list. They no longer repeat across books you finish. Quote dictation keeps your text when you navigate away mid-capture, and the voice parser drops "this is X on page N" attribution tails. Fixed: push notifications.

EPUB upload now auto-creates the book, shows progress, and reports enrichment failures. Enrichment retries on failure and falls back to the daemon. The reading timer has a Note button and voice journal entry. Quote capture defaults to the active book. Tapping a book in the carousel starts the timer for it. The onboarding book picker has a barcode and cover scanner. The barcode scanner no longer picks the wrong book. Notebook capacity raised from 200 to 5,000 entries. Book club prep has a Regenerate button and uses context from your other books when generating talking points. Fixed: reflections overwriting each other, the completion share sheet collapsing, and the zoomed-in photo in quote text selection.

Social profiles and book clubs Your profile is now a reading journal others can visit. It shows a timeline of your quotes, completed books with star ratings and reading dates, a bookshelf of everything you finished this year, and your favorite starred quotes. Follow other readers and see their activity on your Dashboard. Create book clubs with invite codes, track everyone's reading progress, and discuss books with spoiler-gated threads — posts are hidden from members who haven't reached that page yet. Vote on what to read next. Voice and quote capture Dictate quotes by voice with on-device transcription — no network needed. The app detects which book you're reading and corrects the text against your EPUB. Batch photo capture lets you photograph multiple pages and extract quotes in one go. Live Text selection replaces cloud OCR for faster, private text recognition. Export and data Export your reading history as CSV, compatible with Goodreads and StoryGraph import formats.

The Discover tab now leads with your personalized recommendations. AI-generated lists, quote-similarity matches, and domain "Level Up" rows cluster at the top — static catalog rows (awards, genres, eras) sit below. Books can appear in both personalized and catalog sections; they're no longer consumed by whichever row loads first. Quote camera got a full overhaul. Two-pass verification eliminates false positives from underline extraction. Vision-model confidence scoring filters out hallucinated passages. If you have the EPUB, extracted quotes are cross-checked against the actual text. Personalized recommendation lists now regenerate automatically when you finish a book or save your fifth new quote. The reader portrait — the AI analysis of your highlights that generates list titles like "Prose That Reads Like Poetry" — activates earlier (3 quotes instead of 5) and produces three lists instead of two. Domain "Level Up" rows now score candidates by your actual quote themes, not just companion book metadata. Two domains appear instead of one. Era-based rows (Classics, Modern Literature, Contemporary Fiction) no longer surface pure nonfiction. Also fixed: cross-book connections showing 0, stale ring snapshots, dashboard refresh after logging.

Added "Forgot password?" to the login screen — reset your password directly from the app. • Email confirmation now redirects back into the app instead of leaving you on the website. • Fixed a bug where daily word count and cognitive load stats could display wildly inflated numbers when a book had incomplete page metadata. • Fixed a crash that could occur during voice dictation when no microphone was available. • Improved reliability of voice-to-quote capture — transcribed text no longer gets lost when dismissing the dictation sheet.

Book club prep got smarter. Talking points are now generated by Claude Sonnet instead of an on-device model — sharper, more specific to the text. You can swipe to delete any you don't want, and the whole thing loads faster. Nonfiction books now show difficulty dimensions — argumentative complexity, prerequisite knowledge, terminological opacity, rhetorical indirection, and systemic scope — so you know what you're getting into before you start. The Watch app no longer shows a book you've already finished. The dashboard's recall widget shows the full quote. Domain mastery no longer vanishes when you switch tabs. PDF books can now go through the RAG pipeline for richer analysis. Also fixed: dashboard not refreshing after logging, journal entries for finished books, reflection saves, and several smaller issues throughout.
