Color Tell - Color Identifier
Not sure what color something is? Point your camera at it, tap Identify, and Color Tell tells you the color name — out loud.
Built for people with color vision deficiency (color blindness), and just as handy for anyone who needs a color name instead of a hex code.
WHY COLOR TELL
• You get a name, not a code: "Teal", "Burgundy", "Mustard" — not #008080.
• Works fully offline: no internet, no account, no photo uploads.
• Speaks the result: hear the color name read aloud with offline text-to-speech.
• Made for accessibility: large text, high contrast, and labels for VoiceOver and TalkBack.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Open the camera and aim the on-screen target at the color you want to check.
2. Tap Identify Color. Color Tell samples the target area and matches it to the closest color name.
3. Read it in extra-large text, or tap Speak Again to hear it.
THREE WAYS TO PICK A COLOR
• Center target: the steadiest option for everyday use.
• Tap to pick: tap any spot on the preview to sample exactly there.
• From a photo: choose an image from your gallery and tap the color you want named.
FEATURES
• 100+ color names, from basics like Red, Blue and Gray to finer names like Coral, Lavender, Jade and Terracotta.
• Every result also shows its color family (for example "Teal (Cyan tones)"), so the answer still makes sense when the name is new to you.
• Adjustable sampling size to smooth out noise and glare.
• Light and zoom for dark or distant subjects.
• History and favorites, stored only on your device.
• Extra-large text, high contrast theme, speech rate and vibration options.
• Available in English, 简体中文, 日本語, 한국어, Deutsch, Français and Español.
• Copy any color name to the clipboard.
FREE AND PRO
Color Tell is free to download, and the core color identification always works. Pro is a one-time purchase (not a subscription) that unlocks the full range of color names, tap-to-pick sampling, photo analysis, and history with favorites. Bought it before? Use Restore Purchase at any time.
PRIVACY
No account. No ads. No tracking. Camera frames and photos are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded. History stays in local storage and you can clear it whenever you like.
A NOTE ON ACCURACY
Color names depend on the lighting. For the most reliable answer, use bright, even light and avoid glare or deep shadows. If the light is poor, move closer or turn on the light.
Color Tell is an assistive tool. It helps you name colors, but please do not rely on it alone for safety-critical decisions.
