BEFORE THE STORM
Capture a pre-storm baseline in about twenty minutes: all four sides of the house, the roof from the ground, gutters, windows, the outdoor unit, your declarations page, and every room you choose. Timestamped and GPS-tagged, so "pre-existing damage" is never a guess.
AFTER THE DAMAGE
Step-by-step checklists tell you exactly what to photograph and why:
• Water: burst pipe, appliance failure, storm intrusion, sewer backup, flood
• Winter: frozen and burst pipes, with the thermostat and weather shots insurers ask for
• Wind and storm: roof, hail, siding, fallen trees

Add rooms after a loss and each photo shows its "before" from your baseline so you can match the angle.

A claim diary keeps every call, every adjuster, every receipt, and every deadline in one dated log. Log who you spoke with and what they said. Photograph receipts for tarps, fans, and hotels. Deadlines show days remaining.
