Walk every block in New York City. WalkNYC checks off each block as you walk it on an interactive map across all five boroughs. Set goals by borough, watch your coverage grow, and see how you stack up against other New Yorkers on the leaderboard.
BACKGROUND TRACKING
WalkNYC marks off your blocks without you opening the app. GPS only turns on when your pedometer detects you're walking, so battery use stays low (less than 3% per day).
PRIVACY
Your walks stay on your device. Servers only ever see aggregate stats: total blocks, total distance, walking time. GPS coordinates never leave your phone. There's no sign-up, no account, no name unless you choose to set one for the leaderboard.
LEADERBOARD
See how you stack up against other New Yorkers by blocks — today, this week, this month, this year, or all time.
WALK HISTORY
Every walk is saved with its full path, timestamps, distance, and walking time. Open one to replay it on the map.
STATS
Daily, weekly, and monthly charts for distance, walking time, new blocks, and steps.
FREE
No accounts, no subscriptions, no ads, no in-app purchases.
I love open world games like Breath Of The Wild that feature tracking maps. I love NYC. These are some of my favorite things, thank you for making this! Already 32 blocks in :) Something I would love to see in the future is a way to take photos which are marked on the map on the walks. I would love to see all my cool finds and would totally pay for this feature!
Exercise but make it fun

Runs smooth , tracks accurately and the leaderboard makes you want to compete with your friends
Like the App- Not sure how blocks work

I love the app- it’s a great idea and I am having a fun time tracking my walks. However, I have no idea how the block function works. I have walk different streets, sections of streets, and around entire blocks in the past few days and my block count hasn’t increased! Would love some insight!
Developer Response
Thank you so much for the review! I think I may know the issue. Could you go into the settings (gear icon in the top left of the app) and then toggle on the borough that you've been walking in the most? It defaults to Manhattan so if you've mostly been walking in Brooklyn it's not counting those blocks. Please update your review letting me know how that goes! I'll be keeping a lookout so I can reply if that doesn't work so we can get to the bottom of this :) -Joe
