FFL Draft Day Picker
A Manual/Live Draft Necessity
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Walk into your fantasy draft fully prepared. FFL Draft Day Picker is your
personal draft coach, turning uncertainty into confident decision-making so
you leave draft day with a roster built to win.
If you worry about reaching, missing a positional run, or freezing when you're
on the clock, this app keeps you steady. As every pick comes off the board, it
recommends the strongest move for your team in real time — no spreadsheets, no
second-guessing, and no internet connection required during the draft.
Player data is sourced from ESPN and refreshed nightly on our servers,
including rankings, ADP, position ranks, injury status, and headshots. Refresh
once before your draft, then go fully offline with confidence.
---
Smart Picks Every Time You're On the Clock
An AI recommendation engine scores every available player across five weighted
factors — Value vs. ADP, Positional Scarcity, Team Need, Bye Week conflicts,
and Elite Talent — then adds bonuses for TD and yardage production and
penalties for injury risk. It adapts instantly to draft flow and shows you the
best available pick with a full score breakdown explaining why. Supports
Standard, Half-PPR, and Full PPR scoring.
Avoid Draft-Day Mistakes
Cut out reaching, positional droughts, and unbalanced rosters. The app
highlights value, flags when a position is thinning with tier tracking, and
keeps your lineup structurally sound with position requirement enforcement.
Unlimited Mock Drafts
Practice against AI opponents as often as you like. Choose your difficulty —
Normal, Harder, or Tough — to control how tightly opponents draft to ADP. Track
your progress across saved drafts with VBD score trends and team report cards.
Instant Team Report Cards
Get curved letter grades, positional depth analysis, and strengths and
weaknesses summaries the moment your draft finishes.
Full Board Visibility
See every remaining pick with your roster needs in view. Tap any player for
full analysis, and plan multiple rounds ahead with projected picks color-coded
by position.
Trade Analyzer
Evaluate any trade with an 8-factor comparison across VBD, average ADP, average
rank, position value, total TDs, total yards, health risk, and bye-week
conflicts — so you never lose value in a deal.
Value Based Drafting Built In
Every player is scored with VBD (Value Based Drafting), measuring how much
better they are than a replacement-level starter at their position. Sort your
board by Rank, ADP, or VBD.

Mock Draft AI Difficulty (new feature)
- Added a MockDraftDifficulty enum with three levels: Loose ("Normal"), Standard ("Harder"), and Tight ("Tough")
- Each level controls how many top candidates the AI considers and how heavily it favors the best pick (e.g., Loose picks from 8 candidates with spread weights, Tight picks from 3 with 65% chance on the best)
- Exposed the difficulty selector in both DraftSetupView and DraftSettingsView as a segmented picker
- The mock draft AI pick logic in DraftViewModel now uses the difficulty's candidatePoolSize and weights instead of the hardcoded top-5 / [40,28,18,9,5] values
- DraftConfig updated with the new property, including Codable support with backward-compatible decoding
BestAvailableCard disabled after draft completes
- The card is now non-interactive (.allowsHitTesting(false)) and dimmed when the draft is complete
- The inline "Draft This Player" button is also disabled/grayed out
- isDraftComplete is passed through to PlayerDetailView from the card's sheet
Draft Report grading alignment with VBD
- DraftPicksReportView now accepts and respects gradingMode (curve vs raw) and passes positionRequirements to the grading call — previously it always used curve mode with default requirements, causing a mismatch with the Analytics view
- Each pick in the report now shows a per-player VBD score label
- DraftAnalyticsView threads gradingMode through AnalyticsRow into the report sheet
Team grade raw score normalization
- The "/100" score in TeamDraftGrade.gradeAllTeams() is now normalized across all teams using min/max VBD interpolation (30–95 range) instead of the arbitrary 50 + vbd/2 formula
Draft Position Summary UX polish
- Position count badges are now toggle-style (tap again to deselect) with a selected-state ring indicator
- Removed the separate "x" close button from the filtered pick list since tapping the badge again dismisses the filter
Mock draft initialization ordering
- startMockDraft() is now called before setting isInitializing = false in both initial load and reset flows, so isWaitingForUserPick is correct on first render

Performance fixes and general app smoothness.
4.787 Aug 23
Performance & Responsiveness Update
Draft Initialization Moved Off Main Thread
- initializeDraft() now runs player loading, VBD calculation, sorting, and tier computation in a background Task, keeping the UI responsive. The view transitions immediately and shows a "Preparing your draft…" loading spinner until everything is ready.
- Player JSON is pre-loaded in the background as soon as the Draft Setup screen appears (preloadPlayers()), so the heavy decode is usually done before the user taps "Start Draft."
- Mock draft auto-start was moved into the async completion block so it fires only after players are fully loaded.
Draft Reset Also Async
- resetDraft() now uses the same background pattern — VBD, sort, and tier recalculation happen off the main thread with a loading indicator shown until complete.
VBD Caching / Pre-computation
- DraftRecommendationEngine accepts an optional precomputedVBD parameter so VBD scores computed during init/reset are reused rather than recomputed on every recommendation request.
- BestAvailableCard passes precomputed VBD scores through to the engine.
- Background-Save on Scene Phase Change
- ContentView now observes scenePhase and persists the current draft when the app moves to background/inactive, preventing data loss if iOS terminates the process.
UI Polish
- Added a ProgressView + "Preparing your draft…" overlay in DraftView during initialization.
- Removed the pulsing animation on the Draft Board icon in DraftPositionSummaryView (the repeating scale/opacity/shadow effect).
- Fixed player name display in the Positional Depth section of the Draft Picks Report — now correctly shows the last name (or full name for single-word names) instead of sometimes showing an empty string.
4.786 Aug 23

- Draft complete flow simplified — Save Draft / Done buttons, both auto-launch grades screen

- K/DST suppressed from "Overall" Best Available tab when defer is active
Performance
- Bot picks use direct array mutation (skip playerManager/teamManager overhead)
- VBD and sorted player cache keys no longer invalidate on every pick (only on explicit refresh)

Fixes
- Elite picks in Draft Report and Team Report Cards no longer count K/DST (only QB/RB/WR/TE top 5 qualify)
- K/DST defer setting properly blocks K from appearing in round 10 of a 17-round draft
- Fixed draft save not persisting — reverted to local NSPersistentContainer (CloudKit deferred until entitlements configured)
