Orbis Caeli XR
Immersive Positional Astronomy
Free
Apple Vision
The definitive visual atlas of astronomy — an immersive tool for exploring the positions and motions of stars, planets, and deep-sky objects.
Orbis Caeli XR is an immersive visual atlas of astronomy for Apple Vision Pro. It presents the sky as a precise spatial model, enabling exploration of the positions and motions of stars, planets, and deep-sky objects through a new form made possible by visual computing.
Look around within the immersive celestial sphere and explore the sky from within. Adjust time and location to observe how the sky evolves, from the daily motion of stars, planets, the Sun, and the Moon to seasonal changes and long-term celestial cycles. Select objects with the Head-Up Display, guided by your gaze, and follow their paths across the sky.
Celestial reference overlays such as constellation boundaries, the equatorial grid, the meridian, and the ecliptic help orient the sky and identify objects and constellations. Alternative visual representations and starlore traditions offer additional ways to understand celestial structure and motion.
Orbis Caeli XR enables exploration of the positions and motions of celestial objects, as well as notable astronomical events including rising, transit, and setting, solstices, equinoxes, and lunar phases. It offers a precise and intuitive immersive environment for observation, study, and experimentation.
From beginners to experienced observers, Orbis Caeli XR offers a new way to study and understand the sky through visual computing.
