Heirloom Recipe Box
The cookbook you fill, forever
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Save any recipe. From a link, a card, a voice note, a video. Build a private cookbook the whole family fills, forever.
The cookbook your family builds together — for the recipes you save, the ones you cook, and the people you cook with.
Heirloom is a private place for every recipe that ends up on your family's table.
SAVE FROM ANYWHERE
A link, a handwritten card, a voice note, a cooking video, or a few words you type yourself — Heirloom turns every way a recipe shows up in your life into a proper recipe card you can cook from.
KEEP FILLING THE BOOK
Not a file folder. A cookbook. Name it, style it with one of 20 designed templates, and add the recipes that matter to your family in one private place. Every recipe remembers who added it, when, and what they changed from the original. A real cookbook, built the way Grandma kept her binder.
SHARE WITH THE PEOPLE YOU COOK WITH
Sharing is a deliberate act. Send a private invite link to the people you choose. No public feed. No follower counts. No algorithm. Your cookbook is yours and theirs — no one else's.
WHAT'S FREE, WHAT'S PREMIUM
Every recipe is private by default. You choose who sees each cookbook.
Free, forever: save any recipe from a link, type recipes by hand, build cookbooks, share with the people you cook with, 14-day free trial of Premium.
Premium ($6.99/month or $39.99/year): voice notes, cooking-video import, handwritten card scanning, bulk cookbook scanning (500+ page PDFs), AI Spark, unlimited cover art, and all 20 designed templates.
BUILT TO KEEP GROWING
- On-device voice transcription — your audio stays on your phone
- Lineage on every recipe — see whose version this is and where it came from
- Free to start — sharing and core features never gate behind a paywall
HEIRLOOM IS NOT
- Not a recipe discovery app. We don't suggest what to cook tonight.
- Not a social feed. Your cookbook is not a follower count.
- Not a meal planner. We don't tell you what's for dinner.
- Not a public profile. No one finds you by searching.

Bug fixes and improvements.
2.1.1 May 22
Recipes that arrive as one long paragraph now split into clean numbered steps automatically — works across 41 languages.
Cover art reads the recipe's source language and paints scenes that feel like they belong to that kitchen.
Onboarding starts you off with real recipes in hand, so you can try things out before adding your own.
Plus a warmer launch screen and a few quieter fixes under the hood.
2.1 May 20
Recipes that travel.
NEW IN 2.0.1
• My Shares. See everyone you've shared a recipe with in Settings → My Shares. Swipe to revoke any share — recipients lose access immediately.
• Smarter recipe covers. Cover generation is now ingredient-aware so a "Mascarpone Cheesecake with Almond Crust" looks like one — not a stock cheesecake.
ALSO IN THIS UPDATE
• Fixed: recipe detail chrome no longer renders over the image on iOS 26.
• Fixed: shared-cookbook recipes appear instantly when added.
• Fixed: cookbook picker hides pre-template legacy collections.
• Fixed: edge cases in shared-recipe acceptance and lineage tracking.
Thanks for cooking with us.
2.0.1 May 6
Recipes that travel.
NEW IN 2.0
• Recipe lineage. Edit a recipe someone shared with you and it back-propagates with a clear summary of what changed — substitutions, scaling tweaks, technique notes — preserved alongside the original.
• Smarter recipe covers. URL imports now anchor on the publisher's photo so a "Mascarpone Cheesecake with Almond Crust" looks like one — not a stock cheesecake.
• Share revocation. Change your mind about a share you sent? Revoke it; recipients can no longer add it to their library.
ALSO IN THIS UPDATE
• Fixed: revoked shares no longer accept on the receive sheet.
• Fixed: nav chrome and share-acceptance flows on iPhone.
• Fixed: Family Cookbook member invites now work reliably end-to-end.
Thanks for cooking with us.
2.0 May 5
A small follow-up to 1.9.4 with two stability fixes.
• Fresh installs no longer pre-load any background recipe content on first launch — your library starts genuinely empty until you capture your first recipe.
• The shopping list now opens full-screen when launched from the Me tab.
Thanks for cooking with us.
1.9.5 May 3
A big set of upgrades to capture, cookbooks, and the cooking experience.
NEW IN THIS UPDATE
• Sketch with your own photo. The Sketch capture tile now accepts a photo from your library, so the recipe you build keeps the picture you started with.
• Per-cookbook style picker. Every cookbook — personal or shared — now has its own template, color palette, and image style, picked from 20 cookbook templates. Change the look any time from the cookbook's "..." menu.
• Restyle the whole shared cookbook at once. Change a family cookbook's template and every recipe inside re-renders to match the new look. Your originals stay yours; only the shared cookbook view picks up the new aesthetic.
• Subtle photo harmonizing. When you contribute a recipe with your own photo to a shared cookbook, we apply a light tone match so it feels at home with the cookbook's palette — your subject and composition stay exactly as you shot them. Want a fuller restyle? There's a per-recipe toggle in the recipe's "..." menu.
• Faster PDF imports. "Import from PDF" now goes straight from tap to file picker to queue — no extra sheet in between.
• One-tap multi-select trash. Selecting multiple cookbooks now puts the delete button right in the toolbar (was buried in a menu).
• Cooking timer fixes. "Set Timer" reliably opens every time, and the timer keeps running across step changes.
ALSO RECENTLY LANDED
• A refreshed welcome — the first screen leads with "Preserve what matters" and a cleaner three-promise list.
• Try-it tour. New users walk through the capture → cookbook → share loop with the same recipe — Grandma's Brisket — that lives in the family tree right after.
• Recipe lineage now shows the right name. The original generation no longer reads "Someone" — it credits whoever first wrote it down.
• Cleaner First Table redemption. New First Table members now see full onboarding (welcome, sign-in, profile) instead of being dropped straight into the app.
Thanks for cooking with us.
1.9.4 May 2
A bigger update under the hood, with a few things you'll notice right away.
• Sketch — a faster way to capture a recipe from memory. Type a dish name or list a few ingredients, and Heirloom builds the rest. Free for everyone.
• A refreshed look across the app — calmer surfaces, clearer cards, friendlier paywall and feature screens.
• iPad opens up. Landscape is now supported, layouts adapt to wider screens, and split-screen multitasking finally feels right.
• Recipe and cookbook grids never collapse to a single column on smaller devices.
• Lots of small fixes — offline saves don't hang, lineage updates show up faster, family trees stay in sync across devices.
Thanks for cooking with us.
