This app is definitely not production ready. You can add and organize songs, sets, and gigs. But this app does not provide a useful set list in a performance mode that actually generates midi commands. Selecting a song from the list just opens the edit mode where it allows you to test the midi commands. You are always in edit mode. Additionally, it was designed for iPhone only and does not scale for iPad. Clumsy, clunky, and cumbersome to use. Reality does not reflect what was written in the product description.
Developer Response
Thank you for taking the time to leave detailed feedback.MIDI Set Lister is specifically designed around using set lists to recall songs and send their configured MIDI commands during a performance. The song editor is where MIDI commands are created and tested, but it is not intended to be the performance interface. That said, your experience clearly shows that the distinction between editing and performing isn’t obvious enough, and that’s something we can improve. You’re also correct that the current interface was designed primarily for iPhone. While it can run on iPad, a fully optimized iPad interface is not currently part of the app.We appreciate the feedback, particularly regarding the performance workflow. Making MIDI Set Lister fast and straightforward to use on stage is the entire point of the app, so feedback like this helps us identify where the interface may not be communicating that clearly enough. Please feel free to contact me directly for more support at snake@snakejohns.com.
MIDI Set Lister now runs natively on iPad. Use it in portrait or landscape and in resizable windows, with larger performance rows and comfortable editor layouts. This release also refreshes the App Store screenshots and adds preview videos for iPhone and iPad.
