Bigger palettes, smarter menus, and a direct bridge between your desktop and pickycolors.com. Pick a color, explore it online, or send one back from the web. Picky Colors is a fast, native color picker and editor built for macOS. Available for $7.99 as a one-time purchase, no subscriptions, no hidden fees, all features included. Designed for designers and developers who work with color every day, it puts a precision eyedropper, full-featured editor, contrast checker, and palette manager into a single compact window that stays out of your way. PICK ANY PIXEL Activate the magnifier loupe with ⇧⌘C from anywhere on your Mac. The loupe shows a zoomed pixel grid with adjustable magnification (4× to 16×) and field of view (7 to 21 pixels). Use arrow keys for pixel-perfect movement, hold an arrow key for slow precision mode at 0.25px increments, and scroll to adjust zoom on the fly. Click to pick. The color is captured, copied to your clipboard, and ready to use. Without screen recording permission, Picky Colors falls back to the standard macOS color sampler, so it works either way. EDIT WITH PRECISION The color editor gives you live sliders across seven color modes: HSB, RGB, HSL, CMYK, LAB, HWB, and WEB. Every adjustment updates the preview, hex value, and contrast ratio in real time. Undo and redo any change. A session history strip keeps your recent colors within reach so you can compare as you go. Type any color value directly into the input field such as hex, rgb(), hsl() and Picky Colors parses it instantly. COPY IN ANY FORMAT Copy your current color in over 20 production-ready formats with one click. HEX, RGB, HSL, CMYK, CSS, SwiftUI, UIColor, NSColor, and more are all built in. Set your preferred default format and every picked color is auto-copied to your clipboard. CHECK CONTRAST The accessibility tab tests your current color against your palette colors for WCAG compliance. See pass/fail results for AA (4.5:1), AAA (7:1), and AA Large (3:1) standards at a glance. Colors are grouped by pass and fail so you can quickly identify which combinations work. When a pairing falls short, Picky Colors suggests lighter or darker alternatives that meet the standard. EXPLORE HARMONIES Generate color harmonies from any color: warm/cool, inverted, complementary, analogous, triadic, split complementary, tetradic, shades, tints, and tones. Click any swatch to set it as your current color and keep exploring. BUILD AND MANAGE PALETTES Create palettes to organize your color collections. Add colors with the + button, detect duplicates automatically, rename, delete, and set an active palette that follows you across tabs. EXPORT EVERYWHERE Export palettes to production-ready formats including JSON, CSS variables, SCSS variables, Swift extensions, UIColor, HEX list, RGB list, Adobe ASE, GIMP GPL, macOS .clr, and more. Every export saves through a standard file dialog, you choose where it goes. GET INSPIRED Drop or paste an image to extract its dominant colors. Click anywhere on the image to pick a specific color. Use the theme generator to create full dark or light themes from any color, complete with a live card and button preview. Browse shades, tints, and opacity strips, click any swatch to use it. Save generated themes as palettes. LIVES IN YOUR MENU BAR The menu bar icon reflects your current color. Click it for quick access to recent colors, the color picker shortcut, and a keep-on-top toggle. Picky Colors stays accessible without cluttering your workspace. KEYBOARD-FIRST ⇧⌘C to pick a color. ⇧⌘L to toggle the magnifier. ⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z for undo and redo. Arrow keys for pixel-perfect loupe movement. Scroll to zoom. Everything is designed to keep your hands on the keyboard. BUILT FOR macOS A native SwiftUI app with SwiftData persistence. Supports light and dark mode with a custom theme system. Runs with minimal memory and zero CPU at idle. The compact 380px-wide window stays on top by default so it's always within reach.
