Your entries can now remember where they happened. Places, free for everyone Tap "Add place" beside the date and the day keeps where you were. Every place you keep appears on the Journal Map, coloured by how you felt, and each town gets a page listing every memory you made there. Nothing here is behind a subscription, the map, the places and every entry are free, as they have always been. One Question Pro Pro reads those places back to you. A town's page gains "What Stockholm holds", sentences drawn from your own entries, about how the feeling of a place moved between its early and later days, which corner of it you kept returning to, or a word that keeps coming up in what you wrote there. A rail of months moves the whole page, the map included, through the time you spent there. Pro also opens the rest of the Rediscover prompts on Your Places, a season you wrote in before, the place you have not been back to, where it all started. These observations wait until there is enough behind them to be true. A place with two days in it says so rather than inventing a story. Also in this version An entry's page now shows where it happened on a map, the other days you wrote at that exact spot, and the affirmation it earned. Anniversaries of a day you wrote somewhere can arrive as a notification, at most one a month. About location Location is optional and off until you ask for it. It is never collected in the background, it syncs with your journal in your own iCloud, and it never reaches our analytics.

The app is written on paper now. Serif type, warm ink and a page with grain replace the grey cards. Today is a full writing surface — the question is the title, the rest of the screen is yours, and the moods sit on a rail above the keyboard. New in 1.6: • On This Day — a week back, a month, three months, six months, and every past year you've written. One look-back per page. • Past Entries is a timeline, and entries now keep the time they were written. • Settings — move the daily reminder to the hour you actually write, choose light or dark paper, and export everything as plain text. • A tab bar, so every screen is one tap away instead of a swipe and a guess. • The words you get back after saving are written from the week behind your entry, not from that one day. • Tapping a weekly or monthly reminder now opens the reflection it announced. • iPad gets a split view and a readable column. Fixed: the affirmation and the Year in Review footer no longer change each time you open them, and the monthly reminder announces the month it actually has.
