Remio - Remote Desktop
Access & Control Your Computer
Free · In‑App Purchases
New in 3.4: pair a Mac with one tap, Game mode, buttons of your own, and a live Computer card for each Mac. Free to use — no ads, no account needed.
The free remote desktop for iPhone and iPad — sized to your screen, up to 6K at 120 FPS.
Remio is a free, 100% native remote desktop. Reach your Mac, Windows PC or Linux machine and it feels like you're sitting at it — every touch lands right away and text stays crisp.
▸ FREE TO USE
Remio and Remio Host are free to use, at home or at work. No time limit, no ads, no commercial-use detection, no card to enter.
▸ CONNECT IN SECONDS
Scan its QR code or type its Device ID and PIN. No account, no router config, no IT department. Install the free Remio Host on your computer, open Remio, and you're in.
▸ FEELS LIKE YOUR MACHINE
• The remote desktop reshapes itself to your window — live, pixel-perfect, like it's your machine. Rotate your iPhone or iPad and it follows.
• One perfect screen — a dedicated virtual display sized exactly to your device, not a squeezed copy of the host's monitor
• Up to 6K at 120 FPS with hardware H.265, end to end
• About 8 ms of processing latency on your local network — the rest is your display's own refresh
• HDR from a Mac with Apple silicon — on an iPhone or iPad with an HDR screen, your desktop shows the brightness and color it really has
• Close the MacBook lid. Keep working. No dummy HDMI dongle — ever.
▸ TOUCH THAT MAKES SENSE
• Trackpad mode turns your screen into a precision trackpad. Direct Touch lets you tap exactly where you see it.
• Tap to click, two-finger tap to right-click, scroll, pinch to zoom, press and hold to drag
• Three-finger swipes move between desktops and open Mission Control. Put any shortcut on a three- or four-finger tap.
• The on-screen keyboard never covers what you're typing, and it opens the moment you tap a text field on your computer
• Keyboard shortcuts carry through — with a real Windows key for Windows and Linux computers
• Point, tap and scroll with Apple Pencil. Bring a keyboard or trackpad to your iPad and it just works.
• Play with your controller — buttons map to your games
▸ A SECOND SCREEN FOR YOUR COMPUTER
Make your iPhone or iPad an extra display for your Mac, Windows PC or Linux computer and move windows over to it. It extends your desktop instead of copying it, your computer's own screens stay on, and it works at home or away, straight between your devices — never through a relay or Remio's servers. Needs Remio Host 3.2.2 on a Mac or a Windows PC, or Remio Host 3.2 on Linux (GNOME or X11); away from your own network, the latest Remio Host.
▸ BUILT FOR IPHONE DUO
Fold it halfway and it's a mini laptop — your computer on top, the keyboard below the hinge. Open it flat for the whole desktop. The session carries on as you open, close and fold.
▸ EVERYTHING WITHIN REACH
Tap the Remio button and every control sits on one board — keyboard, zoom, volume, files, apps, displays and settings. Drag anything to where your thumb lives; Remio remembers the layout.
• Hear your computer's audio right on your device — in sync with the screen
• Copy on one device, paste on the other — text with any computer, pictures too with a Mac
• Send files straight to your computer
• Type your clipboard into sign-in screens and apps that block paste
• Pick which of your computer's screens to view
• Blank your computer's screen while you work, or lock it from here
• Picture in Picture keeps your computer in view while you use other apps
• Your session stays on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while you're elsewhere
▸ PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Video, audio, input, clipboard and files are encrypted end to end — even the relay only sees ciphertext. Direct peer-to-peer by default; encrypted relay only when your network demands it. No ads, no data brokers — your screen content is never logged or inspected.
▸ WORKS WITH YOUR COMPUTERS
Remio Host — free at remio.net — runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. Remio also runs on Mac, Windows PCs, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro.

more New
• Choose how to use a computer: the first time you connect to a computer, Remio asks whether to control it or use this iPhone or iPad as a second display, and remembers your answer for each computer.
• iPhone Duo: with your Duo standing half-open, the keyboard switch on the Control Board folds the whole lower half away so your computer's desktop fills the window.
• Android phones as computers: the Control Board leads with Back, Home and Recent apps.
Improvements
• Pairing explains itself: a Help button on every pairing screen, a clear message for each wrong code, and Pair again when a computer doesn't recognize this device.
• Remio explains the Local Network question before iOS asks it.
• Wake Up tries a second way to wake a sleeping Mac on your Wi‑Fi.
• Clearer reasons when you can't connect, and a card that says why a computer's own screen turned off and how to keep it on.
• The relay notice is now a banner that goes away by itself.
• When the picture freezes because the connection dropped, Remio says "Connection lost — reconnecting…".
• Sound settings in plain words, and Quality names the real cause when something is slow.
• Controllers: hold Select + L1 + R1 + B for a second to end a session.
• Choose how faded the round Controls button gets.
• Smoother when a session has Wi‑Fi and mobile data at once.
• Larger text sizes reach Settings and the computer cards on Home, and two computers with the same name tell themselves apart.
Bug fixes
• Changing sound quality in a session now confirms.
• Split Keyboard no longer hides notices or Click types.
• A picture already on your clipboard no longer says it was sent when you connect.
• Connect on a sleeping computer now says it's asleep.

New
• Pair a computer with one tap: a Mac running Remio Host on the same Wi‑Fi shows up on the Pair screen. Tap it, check that the Mac shows the same code, and you're in — no QR code, nothing to type.
• Game mode: one switch on the Control Board sets up a session for playing, with the highest frame rate your screen shows. Remio remembers it for each computer.
• Buttons of your own on the Control Board: a press, a double press or a hold plays key combinations, typed text and short waits.
• Check on a Mac without connecting: a paired Mac's page shows its processor, memory, battery, disks and the apps running on it, live. End an app that's stuck.
• Lock Remio: Remio asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode before anyone can reach your computers.
• Zoom in with a map: past 1.5×, a small map shows where you are on the computer's screen, and the computer sends just the part you're looking at.
• Take a screenshot of your computer's screen, or watch it with View only.
• Plug your iPhone or iPad into your Mac with a USB cable for a session with less delay.
• Also from the 3.3 updates: connect with Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts, Text on screen, switching screens, Open in New Window on iPad, and a second display away from your home network.
Improvements
• Each computer keeps its own settings: control style, pointer speed, frame rate and sound.
• Type a computer's password at its lock screen, saved behind Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
• Remove a computer and make it forget this device too.
• A computer's card tells you what's in the way before you connect, such as screen sharing being off.
• Sharper text on colored backgrounds with 4:4:4 color.
• Touch and typing feel quicker on ProMotion screens, and a tap in Direct Touch clicks a third of a second sooner.
• Steadier on mobile data and after a hiccup; the picture rests while Remio is in the background.
• Keyboard shortcuts for each computer.
Bug fixes
• Sound no longer lags behind the picture.
• A two-finger scroll no longer stops halfway.
• Coming back to Remio no longer asks to allow paste every time.
• Opening a computer right after leaving another no longer freezes Remio.
Some features need the latest Remio Host on your computer.
3.4.0 4d ago
New
• Connect with Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts: say or search "Connect to" and the name of one of your computers.
• Choose what's on the Control Board: remove the controls you never use and add them back from a searchable library. New installs start with a compact board; an update keeps every control you had.
• Text on screen: read the text in your computer's picture right on this iPhone or iPad, then copy it or type it on the computer. Nothing is sent anywhere.
• Switch screens and follow your work: step to the next or previous screen from the Control Board, or turn on Follow the pointer or Follow the active window in Displays. Remio remembers the screen you picked for each computer.
• One computer per window on iPad: touch and hold a computer and choose Open in New Window.
• Move your iPad pointer onto another screen: when another device is a second display for your Mac, your iPad's trackpad pointer moves onto it like an extra monitor.
• See your Macs live on Home: their cards show what's on screen right now. The eye button turns it off.
• Click types: one-tap right-click, double-click, drag and drop and scrolling.
• A Session menu on iPad: with a keyboard attached, the menu bar opens every panel and Disconnect.
• A second display away from your home network, over any direct connection, never through Remio's relay.
Improvements
• Remio tells you why there's no picture, such as Screen Recording being off for Remio Host on a Mac, and what to do.
• After Wake Up, the computer's card shows that it's waking and Remio tells you when it's awake.
• VoiceOver tells you when Remio connects, reconnects or can't connect.
• The Audio settings say when the computer you control has no sound output.
• Back in your session sooner when the connection comes back after a drop.
• Widgets refresh only when you can see them, so they use less battery.
• A new Share usage statistics switch in Settings › About & support.
Bug fixes
• A Remio link to one of your computers now asks before taking it from someone using it, like tapping its card does.
• Sound comes back when you return to Remio after it was silenced in the background.
3.3.15 6d ago
• Use a USB cable with your Mac — Plug your iPhone or iPad into your Mac with a USB cable and Remio runs the session over the cable instead of Wi-Fi, with less delay. Unplug it and the session moves to Wi-Fi after a short pause, without disconnecting; plug it back in and it returns to the cable. Needs Remio Host 3.3.9 on the Mac.
Improvements
• With a keyboard, mouse or trackpad on a ProMotion iPhone or iPad, Remio asks for up to 120 Hz the moment you press a key or move the pointer, so what you type and point at shows up sooner. When you stop, the display slows down again to keep your device cool.
Bug fixes
• Fixed Disconnect, Sign Out and other confirmations not appearing on an iPad with iPadOS 18, so tapping them seemed to do nothing. They now show in the middle of the screen, and stay put when you rotate on iPadOS 26.
• Fixed Picture in Picture staying over Remio after you come back to the app, and freezing when the session reconnected while it floated.
• Fixed the on-screen keyboard popping up at the start of a session with a keyboard attached. The keyboard button is still there when you want it.
• Fixed freezes of a few seconds at the start of a session on mobile data on some iPhones.
• Fixed a controller that stopped responding after a brief connection drop.
3.3.9 Oct 19
• Take a screenshot of your computer — Tap Take screenshot on the control board to save a picture of your computer's screen to Photos, at the size the computer sends it and with nothing of Remio over it. Remio only adds pictures and never reads your Photos.
• View only — Turn on View only on the control board to watch your computer without your touches, keys or controller reaching it. You can still zoom into the picture, and View only is off again in your next session.
• PlayStation controller motion, touchpad and light bar — With a DualShock 4 or DualSense connected, games on a Windows or Linux computer now also get its motion sensors, touchpad and battery level, and can set its light bar. Needs a current Remio Host on that computer.
Improvements
• On an iPhone or iPad with a ProMotion display, Remio asks for up to 120 Hz the moment you touch the screen and while the picture moves, so your touches and the picture are handled up to twice as often. On a still screen the display slows down again to keep your device cool.
• After a brief stall, the picture jumps straight to what is on your computer now instead of playing the missed moments back at speed.
• Over 5G or 4G, scrolling starts sharper and keeps up better after a pause, and no longer creeps and then jumps (needs Remio Host 3.3.5 on a Mac).
• In Direct Touch, a tap clicks the moment you lift your finger, about a third of a second sooner than before.
• The Pointer speed slider in a session's Settings now changes the pointer right away instead of from your next session.
• After a reconnect, Remio takes you back to the screen you picked under Displays. For a display you added from your device, the Mac needs Remio Host 3.3.5.
• The messages you see during a session, and the names in file transfers, use the name you gave the computer in your list.
• When you're connected but no picture can get through, the card says the connection is too weak and what to try, with a Help link, instead of blaming your computer's screen capture.
Bug fixes
• Fixed a two-finger scroll stopping halfway and showing the zoom hint, in Trackpad mode and in Direct Touch.
• Fixed "Allow Paste" appearing every time you return to Remio with automatic clipboard sync on: Remio now asks only after you copy something new.
• Fixed Remio freezing when you open a computer right after leaving another, for example a Mac right after a Windows PC: it now opens the next computer normally.
3.3.7 Oct 16
• Type your clipboard where paste can't reach — In the Clipboard panel, Type clipboard text types what you copied on your iPhone or iPad into your computer, key by key, for sign-in screens and apps that block paste. Up to 1,000 characters; long or multi-line text asks first, and Stop typing halts it at any point.
• Quit apps on your computer — Touch and hold a running app in the Apps panel and choose Quit. If it's still open a few seconds later, for example because it's asking whether to save, Remio offers Force Quit. Needs Remio Host 3.3.0 on a Mac.
• Mute when Remio is in the background — A new switch in a session's settings, under Audio, stops your computer's sound playing on this device while you're in another app and brings it back when you return. It's off by default, and Picture in Picture keeps the sound on.
• Controller shortcuts — With a controller connected, press Select, L1, R1 and X together to show or hide the live numbers over the picture, or hold Start, Select, L1 and R1 for a second to disconnect. Remio asks first, just as it does when you tap Disconnect.
Improvements
• Your screen stays on during a session, even when you're only watching or playing with a controller. Turn it off with Keep the screen on during a session in Settings, under General.
• If your computer drops off its network mid-session, Remio keeps reconnecting for up to a minute and picks the session back up by itself, instead of giving up within seconds.
• A link or web page that tries to connect you to a computer that isn't in your list now asks first. A pairing link fills in the computer's ID and code and waits for you to tap Pair.
• When a connection fails, the card and the alert on Home offer Report a bug with Connection already chosen and, for common causes, Help, which opens the matching remio.net guide inside Remio.
• With Region Zoom in Trackpad mode, moving the pointer to an edge slides the zoomed view that way, so you can reach what sits just outside it.
• After you open a page or switch apps, the picture sharpens a moment after the screen goes still (needs Remio Host 3.3.0 on a Mac).
• The Info panel and the live numbers show Host processing: how long your computer takes to capture and send its screen, so you can tell a slow computer from a slow connection (needs Remio Host 3.3.0 on a Mac).
• The live numbers also show frame drops, jitter and the codec, including whether this device decodes the video in hardware or software. Info shows the codec too, and IPv6 when your session runs over it.
• The Relay Connection notice tells you to turn on Local Network access for Remio and offers Open Settings, instead of pointing to a router guide.
• Remio tells you when copied text is longer than the 252 KB it carries, so you know only the first part went across.
• A computer's details page shows which Remio Host version it runs, when it's signed in to your Remio account.
• More of Remio follows your language: the messages for a computer that's asleep or can't be woken, and the sample computers shown while you add a widget.
Bug fixes
• Fixed the other computer's screen looking darker, or more washed out, than it really is: it now shows the same brightness as on the computer itself.
• Fixed the sound going silent for the rest of the session after a phone call or Siri.
• Fixed sessions failing to connect, or connecting without a picture, on some routers and office networks (needs Remio Host 3.3.0 on a Mac).
• Fixed connecting when your device's clock is wrong.
• Fixed "Something went wrong" when your computer stopped answering: Remio now says why.
• Fixed an attached keyboard stopping after you put the on-screen keyboard away.
• Fixed a computer you removed coming back, and your names and Favorites being undone when you pair again.
• Fixed a sleeping computer showing as online on its details page.
• Fixed VoiceOver not reaching Exit and Reconnect when a connection fails.
3.3.0 Oct 15
• Use your iPhone or iPad as a second display — An extra screen for a Mac, a Windows PC or a Linux computer. Tap Second display under your main computer on Home, or choose Use as second display in a computer's long-press menu. The desktop extends onto this device and you move windows over to it. It works over your local network only and needs Remio Host 3.2.2 on a Mac or a Windows PC, or Remio Host 3.2 on Linux (GNOME or X11). If it can't start, Remio says what to change.
• Your computers on the Home Screen, the Lock Screen and in Control Center — Add the Computer widget for one computer, or the Computers widget to see two, four or eight. Tap one and Remio connects to it. The Connect to Computer control works from Control Center, the Lock Screen, the Action button and Shortcuts. Desktop previews stay hidden while your device is locked.
• Built for iPhone Duo — Open it, fold it, close it: the session carries on without reconnecting. Stand it half-open and Desk mode puts your computer on the top half and the keyboard below the hinge.
Improvements
• Coming back to a session keeps the last picture on screen instead of flashing black.
• If another device takes over your computer while Remio is in the background, coming back no longer takes it straight back (needs Remio Host 3.2.2 on a Mac or a Windows PC).
• On a 120 Hz iPhone or iPad in Low Power Mode or when it runs hot, Remio asks your computer for 60 frames per second instead of frames your screen can't show.
• If the video decoder stops mid-session, Remio restarts it and the picture comes back.
• A second display opens in Direct Touch, never raises the keyboard by itself, and leaves out the controls that only suit controlling a computer.
• The Resolution panel works on a second display, and Arrange displays opens the computer's display settings so you can place the screen where it sits on your desk.
• When two devices connect to the same computer at the same moment, the one that loses is told right away that another device took over (needs Remio Host 3.2.2 on a Mac or a Windows PC).
• On a shaky connection, a lost piece of the picture is replaced much sooner instead of leaving the picture frozen for up to three seconds.
• With HDR on and Remio Host 3.2.2 on a Mac with Apple silicon, the picture arrives in HDR from the first frame.
• Rotating your device or opening and closing an iPhone Duo shows a soft blur while the computer redraws, instead of a stretched picture.
• The Lock Screen card says Reconnecting while your connection is repaired.
• Online computers are listed by name after your favorites, so Home stops shuffling.
• The Resolution slider only offers sizes your computer can really draw.
• With a keyboard attached and a Mac as the computer, press ⌥ in place of ⌘ to close or minimize a window, hide an app or take a screenshot.
• Report a bug in Settings opens Remio's own report form, with screenshots and the app log, instead of an email.
• The slow-connection notice fits short screens, and more screens read in the app's language.
Bug fixes
• Fixed Remio freezing while iOS asked to Allow Paste.
• Fixed the "Couldn't connect" alert showing a short code instead of what went wrong and what to try.
• Fixed a still screen on a Windows or Linux computer making the picture refresh every few seconds.
• Fixed the picture coming back at the wrong size after Remio rebuilt a dropped connection.
• Fixed a session ending without a picture when the video decoder failed to start.
• Fixed a drag getting stuck on the computer when the system interrupted your touch.
• Fixed Korean syllables falling apart while typing.
• Fixed a large file sent from your iPhone or iPad failing near the end after Remio went to the background.
3.2.2 Oct 13
• Your session on the Lock Screen — Switch to another app mid-session and a Live Activity, in the Dynamic Island too, shows which computer you're on and for how long. If the connection drops, it tells you right away.
• HDR from your Mac — With Remio Host 3.1 on a Mac with Apple silicon, an iPhone or iPad with an HDR screen shows your desktop with the brightness and color it really has. Turn on HDR in stream settings.
• Copy pictures, not just text — Copy an image on your computer and paste it here, or the other way round. Pictures need Remio Host 3.1 on a Mac; text works with every computer.
• A Clipboard panel — Everything that crossed during the session in one list. Send or get the clipboard when you choose, and see right away if something didn't arrive. Automatic sync can be turned off in Settings.
• A real Windows key — On a Windows or Linux computer, the bar above the keyboard now has a Windows / Super key for the Start menu and tiling desktops.
Improvements
• When your network blocks a direct connection, Remio says why — including when your internet provider shares one address between many homes.
• Waking a sleeping computer tells you what's happening, and what to change on the computer if it keeps falling asleep.
• The slow-connection notice no longer catches your taps, and folds away after a few seconds.
• More of the app reads in your language, and VoiceOver reads it better.
Bug fixes
• Fixed "Take Over Session" showing on every connect after your connection had dropped and come back, and computers showing the wrong online status.
• Fixed Auto and Ultra video quality being refused by the computer.
• Fixed a connection port typed in Settings being lost when you closed the panel.
• Fixed empty files failing to send.
3.1.0 Oct 1
Fixed the control board cutting off its bottom row. The panel of session controls could open with its last row clipped by the edge of the board, leaving those controls out of reach. It now opens at the size its controls actually need, in any orientation and with the keyboard up or down.
3.0.2 Sep 24
Remio 3.0 is the biggest update yet. Everything here is free.
• Virtual displays — give the computer you control extra desktops that exist only for Remio. Pick a size or choose Dynamic and the display re-shapes itself to the device looking at it. Add several, name them, place them around the main screen. Disconnect and every one is removed.
• Play with a gamepad — an on-screen gamepad you lay over the picture, plus full support for a controller connected to this device. Up to four players in one session. Your computer sees a real Xbox 360 or DualShock 4, or each control can send a key or mouse click you choose.
• Build the gamepad you want, per game — move, resize, recolour and relabel every button and stick, then save it as a profile. Tune dead zones, curves, sensitivity, rumble and gyro aiming. Assign a profile to a game and Remio switches to it when that game comes to the front. Profiles export, import and work on iPhone, iPad and Android.
• Every control in one place — tap the Remio button and everything you reach for mid-session is on a single board: keyboard, zoom, volume, files, apps, displays and settings. Hold Arrange and drag anything to where your thumb is. Remio remembers the layout on each device.
• Blank your computer's screen while you work — hides what you are doing from anyone standing next to it.
• Lock your computer from here — one control locks the computer you are connected to. You stay connected and can sign back in.
• Files now travel both ways — your computer can send files to this device too. Send many at once, keep adding while they send, and everything that arrives lands in Remio's folder in the Files app. An interrupted transfer picks up where it left off. Every transfer stays in the history.
• Type without the keyboard covering the screen — on iPhone, Split Keyboard keeps the keyboard as part of the layout and gives your computer the space above it.
• Choose which speaker your computer plays through.
• Live numbers over the picture — frame rate, latency and connection quality in a corner while you work.
• Report a problem without leaving the session — the report carries the session's own numbers, and you can attach a screenshot or a recording.
• A mark on what Remio is building towards — some features now carry a PRO mark. Nothing is for sale and nothing is locked: every one of them is free in this version, and everything that is free today stays free.
Improvements
• When connecting fails, Remio now says why and what to do next.
• Connection quality in plain words, alongside the numbers.
• A direct-connection port for each computer.
• Cursor size and style, and the way the picture fits your screen, now show you the result before you choose.
• Settings tell you once the computer has actually applied them.
• Your Remio folder shows up in the Files app.
• Fewer clipboard prompts — allow "Paste from Other Apps" once.
Bug fixes
• Fixed iPhone never connecting over mobile data (5G).
• Fixed a false "Connection lost" when you reopened Remio.
• Fixed the floating Remio button jumping after you turned the phone.
• Fixed copied text not always arriving.
• Fixed quality presets and connection errors staying in English.
Some features need the latest Remio Host on your computer.
3.0.0 Sep 21
Fixed the picture resizing and stuttering in the first seconds after connecting — the screen you are viewing now comes up at its final size and stays there.
Fixed a special key staying held down on the computer when its release was missed.
2.8.5 Aug 30
Fixed waiting with no explanation when a computer couldn't confirm it knows you. If a computer was unable to check your account — usually because its own internet was struggling — connecting simply sat there saying nothing until it gave up. Remio now tells you what happened and offers you both Retry and pairing with a PIN.
Fixed reconnecting looking like nothing was happening. The attempt count and the countdown to the next try now stay on screen for the whole reconnect, instead of dropping back to a plain "Connecting…".
2.7.1 Aug 25
Pick the language Remio speaks in Settings — independent of your device language.
Signing in with an account a computer already belongs to now counts as the pairing, so you're no longer told "no longer paired" right after signing in.
Advanced settings puts the options you use most at the top, the direct-connection port now saves exactly the number you type, and the number pad has a way out.
The "Pairing removed" notice no longer disappears when Remio isn't in English, and the floating Remio button follows your finger cleanly instead of trailing a ghost behind it.
2.7.0 Aug 24
Improvements
• "How to connect directly" now opens the full guide — The router-by-router walkthrough opens right in the app, instead of the short summary card that had fallen behind the real instructions.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed the cursor disappearing on Windows and Linux computers — With "Show host cursor" turned on, Remio stopped drawing the pointer and waited for the computer to send its own. Windows and Linux computers don't send one, so you were left with no cursor at all.
• Fixed pairing failing once before it worked — Typing a six-digit PIN sent the first four digits to the computer before the finished code, so every pairing burned a failed attempt on the way in.
• Fixed the first-run control card getting trapped behind the keyboard — On iPhone, the "How do you want to control?" card that appears the first time you stream could sit underneath the keyboard with its button out of reach and no other way past it.
• Fixed Advanced settings drawing through the close button — Scrolling down Advanced settings pushed rows over the close button and the title at the top of the screen.
• Fixed two lines on the Home screen staying in English — "online now" and "drag to spin" ignored your language while everything around them was translated.
2.6.3 Aug 20
• See all your computers as a grid — A new layout on the Home screen shows every paired computer as a large live preview instead of the spinning ring. Tap the layout switch beside "All Computers" — Remio remembers which one you prefer.
• The frame-rate slider now does what it says — Choosing 120 frames per second really gives you 120 on iPhones with a 120 Hz screen; before, it quietly stayed at 60 no matter what you picked. The slider also stops at whatever your screen can actually show, so you never spend data on frames that get thrown away.
• Fixed two cursors on screen at once — With "Show host cursor" turned on, Remio kept drawing its own pointer on top of the computer's, leaving two cursors chasing each other.
• Fixed a picture that could stay frozen after a network hiccup — If the connection repaired itself but the video didn't come back, nothing noticed and the session stayed frozen. Remio now spots it and restores the picture within a few seconds.
• Fixed a quality preset using more data than you allowed — After choosing the Ultra preset, lowering the maximum bitrate by hand left the preset's higher floor in place, so Remio kept using more data than you'd asked for.
2.5.0 Aug 9
• Sign in with email & password — create a Remio account with just an email address, or add a password to your existing account and keep every pairing.
• Clearer guidance when the app or the computer you're connecting to needs an update.
2.4.0 Aug 1
Reach your Mac at its sign-in screen — a Mac that restarted overnight is no longer out of reach. See its sign-in screen from your iPhone or iPad, type your password, and land on the desktop; the session picks itself back up on its own. (Requires Remio Host 2.3.0 on that Mac.)
Remio in your language — now available in French, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Hindi, and Brazilian Portuguese, joining English and Vietnamese.
Game controllers, done properly — up to four controllers at once, each keeping its own player slot, with vibration sent back to your hands, including trigger rumble.
A real keyboard now works like a real keyboard — with a hardware keyboard attached, every key reaches the computer: tapping Command, Alt or the Windows key on its own registers, and shortcuts go through exactly as you type them.
Choose the connection port — forwarded a port on your router? Tell Remio to use exactly that port (Settings, Advanced) and it connects straight to your computer instead of going through a relay: less delay and a sharper picture, especially when you are away from home. Remio also tells you when the port is unavailable and connects anyway.
New Advanced settings — quality presets that genuinely cap bandwidth and frame rate, so you can trade sharpness for data on a hotspot.
Fixes
- A locked computer now explains itself instead of leaving you on an unexplained lock screen; tap the message to start typing your password.
- Re-pairing after removing a device works again.
- Shortcuts sent to Windows and Linux computers no longer get swallowed by a stuck Windows key.
- Fixed the app quitting suddenly on some networks.
- Help links now open inside the app.
2.3.0 Jul 30
Fixed touch control on iOS 18 — swiping the screen moves the pointer again on iPhones and iPads running iOS 18.
2.2.6 Jul 22
• A clear answer when your computer is asleep — if your computer has gone to sleep or been switched off, Remio now says exactly that and tells you to wake it up, instead of a vague error.
• You'll know when an app on your computer freezes — Remio now tells you the app has stopped responding, instead of leaving you tapping a screen that ignores you.
• Windows and Linux computers no longer show up as Macs in your device list — the type corrects itself the next time you connect.
• Fixed the picture freezing partway through a session — the image now recovers on its own.
2.2.5 Jul 21
Fixed a case where the pointer could stop responding to swipes — Remio now tells you which input mode you're in whenever it changes.
2.2.4 Jul 19
• iPad trackpad right-click now works exactly like a real mouse — a two-finger tap or click opens the menu.
• Hardware keyboard shortcuts (⌘C, ⌘Z and more) now reach your computer as true key combinations.
• Option+Tab on iPad now switches apps on your computer.
• A subtle indicator now shows when your connection is slow, so you know it's the network and not the app.
2.2.3 Jul 18
Faster connections — your computer's screen appears sooner after you tap to connect. A sleeping computer now shows as "Asleep" with steps to keep it reachable, instead of a confusing "Offline". Wake Up now explains it needs the same Wi-Fi network. Fixed pairing getting stuck when the app needs an update.
2.1.2 Jul 14
• Gesture shortcuts — assign any keyboard shortcut to a three- or four-finger tap for one-touch access to your favorite command.
• Mute that stays put — turn a session's audio off and it stays off the next time you connect.
• Clearer connection status — if a computer removes your device or can't accept the connection, Remio now explains what happened and offers to pair again, instead of getting stuck on "Connecting."
2.1.0 Jul 13
• Switch between your Mac's desktops (Spaces) with a three-finger swipe — swipe up for Mission Control, down for App Exposé, just like a Magic Trackpad. A long swipe crosses several desktops at once.
• A built-in gesture guide makes every trackpad gesture — click, right-click, scroll, drag, zoom, and the new three-finger swipe — easy to find while you're connected.
• Fixed press-and-hold drag on iPad occasionally missing small targets like editor dividers and window edges.
2.0.3 Jul 10
This update fixes a bug where a Mac could get stuck showing "offline" and never connect after you reinstalled Remio on it. Remio now automatically hides the leftover duplicate in your device list and keeps the one that actually works.
2.0.2 Jul 9
New
• Choose how to use a computer: the first time you connect to a computer, Remio asks whether to control it or use this iPhone or iPad as a second display, and remembers your answer for each computer.
Some features need the latest Remio Host on your computer.
