Swissli: Swiss German that actually sounds Swiss
Moved to Switzerland and realised your school German gets you nowhere at the bakery? You're not alone. People here speak dialect, and that's exactly what Swissli teaches you.
Short lessons. Real phrases. The Swiss German you'll actually use tomorrow, not textbook German nobody speaks.
Your guide is Alpi, a Swiss cow who keeps things practical. You'll build real grammar, vocabulary and phrases, always tied to everyday situations: shopping, work, small talk, the stuff that actually comes up. Grammar that helps you speak, not dry theory you forget by lunch.
What you'll learn
- Real Swiss German (Schweizerdeutsch), the way it sounds on the street, in shops, at work
- Your dialect of choice: Zurich German (Züritüütsch), Bernese German (Bärndütsch) or Swiss High German
- Business courses for real jobs: restaurants, hotels, construction sites, healthcare & hospitals, offices, retail & shops, cleaning, mechanics & workshops, farming, and beauty & hairdressing
- Lessons in 5 to 10 minutes, made for the tram, the queue, the coffee break
Hear it, then say it
Sentences and words come with audio in your dialect, so you learn how Swiss German sounds, not only how it looks.
Your own vocabulary
Every word you learn lands in your Vocabulary. Search it, check the translation and see how a verb is conjugated in your dialect.
Built for real life
Every lesson prepares you for a real conversation. Practice offline, go at your own pace, and watch your streaks grow as it clicks.
Levels from complete beginner (A1) to fluent (B2), plus business courses for whatever you do here.
No ads. No distractions. No filler. Just Swiss German that finally makes sense.

Hi,Thanks for the detailed review.Listening and guessing the meaning is only one exercise type, and it is there to train comprehension by ear. A new language sounds foreign at first, that is normal.Much of what you ask for is already in the app: one exercise plays a Swiss German recording, you rebuild the sentence you heard, then see it in English. "Connect Words" shows both languages side by side. Since the 9 September update you can tap any word in "Connect Words" and "Guess New Word" to hear it again, and replaying whole sentences is in the update out today.Swissli mixes these exercise types on purpose, so you train listening, reading and vocabulary together. It is a shame to get 1/5 for an app that already has most of what you asked for. Please update, try the other exercises, and if Swissli then feels closer to the potential you saw in it, we would appreciate a revised rating.
New course map: each course climbs a Swiss summit, one stop per lesson. Signposts end the sections, huts the big reviews.
New My peaks tab: your summits on a map of Switzerland. Finish a course, plant your flag and see what waits at the top.
The snail plays a recording slower, before or after you answer. Listening exercises start the recording by themselves.
Back in a lesson asks before you leave. A quick second tap on the recording no longer switches to reading.
