Improved harmony exercises from beginner through advanced levels, with more reliable exercise generation, grading, and feedback. Expanded support for modulation, borrowed chords, augmented-sixth chords, and non-chord tones. Bass-only exercises now accept multiple valid harmonizations.

* Improved note-onset tracking so that sustained notes are no longer mistaken for newly attacked notes. * Quarter-note passing tones and neighbor tones are now evaluated from the actual sounding notes before and after them, rather than from adjacent eighth-note grid positions. * Fifth-species dotted notes, rests, ties, eighth notes, final note values, and mixed rhythms are now handled by dedicated validation rules. * Eighth-note pairs are limited to one pair per measure, on beat 2 or 4, with stepwise motion checked within the pair and on entry and exit. * Suspensions are now checked for proper preparation, ties, and downward resolution at the next actual note onset. * Added support for ornamented suspension resolutions in fifth species. * Anticipation of the resolution is now treated as a separate rule violation, while valid 9–8 suspensions are excluded from this check. * Fixed 2–3 suspensions in the lower voice so they are correctly treated as downward resolutions. Upward delayed resolutions are rejected. * Live grading and final grading now use the same validation path, eliminating older duplicated logic.

The app interface has been refreshed throughout. Learning paths, lessons, and exercise screens have been redesigned to make studying clearer and easier to navigate.

Counterpoint exercises have been refined. The use of octaves and idiomatic passing dissonances in third species are now evaluated more appropriately, and Styles examples avoid unnatural consecutive repetitions of the same note.

This update brings deeper, more practical learning to Instrumentation & Orchestration and Jazz Study. You can now independently choose which fields appear in Today and weekly creation: Counterpoint, Harmony, Instrumentation & Orchestration, and Jazz Study—including a Jazz-only learning path. The new Work Portfolio lets you develop 8-, 16-, or 32-bar pieces, listen to your work, save and restore revisions, reflect on your progress, and preserve completed works.

Counterpoint has been rebuilt around a clearer, Fux-informed species framework. • Corrected the handling of octaves and third-species passing dissonances. • Tied continuations are now distinguished from repeated attacks. • Added species-specific checks for motion, cadences, suspensions, cambiata, and rhythmic placement. • Cantus firmus exercises and first-species Styles alternatives now generate solvable, validator-approved lines with distinct melodic priorities. • Assignment guidance now explains the required conditions, the choices available to the student, and that more than one solution may be valid. Multi-voice evaluation and orchestration content have also been improved.

Improved scoring for Counterpoint and Harmony. Counterpoint Refined the evaluation of weak-beat dissonances, passing and neighbor tones, cambiata, suspensions, and unisons. Corrected strong/weak beat handling in third species and several fifth-species cadence and duration issues. Tied and sustained notes are now distinguished correctly from repeated notes. Improved octave, unison, and suspension evaluation between voices. Harmony Improved chord-inversion scoring by checking the actual bass note, including I6, I64, ii6, and the Neapolitan sixth. Corrected leading tones and altered notes in minor keys, including Neapolitan and augmented-sixth chords. Improved spelling-aware evaluation instead of accepting any enharmonic equivalent. Refined the detection of passing tones, neighbor tones, suspensions, tendency-tone resolution, voice crossing, and voice overlap. Fixed several cadence and scoring issues in exercises with decorative rhythms.

What's New in Version 2.2 Added a new Jazz Study section. Learn jazz harmony, chord voicings, and arranging concepts through structured lessons. Minor improvements and bug fixes.

Minor Bug Fixes.

Added Instrumentation, Orchestration, Ear Training, and Solfège.

Added a Learning Guide and Note Input Guide to help you get started more easily.

Improved note editing in Counterpoint exercises. Double-tap a note to lock it for pitch editing, then drag vertically to change its pitch. Zooming remains available outside the locked note, and the lock is released when dragging ends. Added clearer visual feedback for the locked note.

Version 1.5 adds a better way to revisit generated cantus firmus exercises. Generated C.F. can now be tracked with IDs, making it easier to return to earlier exercises, compare them, and review past work. This update also improves the foundation for future learning history features.

Version 1.4 includes guided learning improvements and easier note entry. * Improved note entry to make input easier * Added level assessment to help users find the right starting point * Added goal setting and personalized study planning * Added a daily question to encourage regular study * Added reminders to help users maintain a consistent learning habit

Made note input easier.

Added learning tips.

You can now turn individual rules on or off from the rule list. This makes it easier to choose which counterpoint rules to apply, including forbidden motion checks and other constraints.
