Version 3.0 brings many more of the Japan Meteorological Agency's alerts, and a map that shows what they announce. • With Premium, you now get new alerts for each of your places: river floods, rainbands, wind, snow, tornadoes, heatstroke, eruption flashes, ash fall and long-period shaking in tall buildings. • Premium also warns you when the Agency issues a megaquake advisory for the Nankai Trough or off Hokkaido and Sanriku. The Prepare tab explains what to do and whether your places are in the area. • A new weather map shows what an alert announces: rain radar, satellite, the typhoon's forecast track, thunderstorms, tornadoes and rainbands, for Premium subscribers. • When rain is heading for your home, Premium shows a card at the top of your alerts with the time it should arrive. • For everyone: earthquakes far from Japan now show where they struck, and every time follows your phone's time zone. Thank you for using Japan Alerts. Stay safe.

• More accurate detection of places outside Japan when setting the place you care about. The app now identifies these cases far more reliably and additionally helps you move your place to Japan. • Cleared alerts now leave your list. When the JMA lifts an evacuation or rain warning, the card disappears right away instead of lingering for days. • Japanese reviewed by a native speaker, across alert titles, push notifications and safety instructions.

Evacuation alerts now follow your municipality, and every Level 3 rain and flood alert reaches you. Your feed shows the evacuation alerts for your own city or ward rather than for the whole prefecture, so a home in central Tokyo sees the few alerts that concern it instead of dozens. Custom watch zones work the same way, each one matched to its own municipality, and push notifications are matched zone by zone, so two zones in the same prefecture with different thresholds behave exactly as you set them. When you move your Home to a new address, alerts follow the new municipality right away. Level 3 heavy rain and flood alerts now always appear in your feed, even on the busiest days, and each alert names only the zones it actually concerns. The entire Japanese interface has been reviewed by a native speaker, with clearer wording and a consistent tone on every screen. Thank you for using Japan Alerts. Stay safe.

Clearer explanations throughout the app, in every language. From the alert screens to the safety guides in the Prepare tab, Japan Alerts now says more precisely who should act and how: it points to the areas at risk (steep slopes, flood-prone ground, low-lying coast) and makes clear that its alerts are warnings from the Japan Meteorological Agency, while evacuation orders come from your city or ward. The same terms are now used on every screen, so each alert level reads the same way everywhere and in every language the app supports. Thank you for using Japan Alerts. Stay safe.

Minor technical and visual improvements for a better experience. Japan Alerts now starts more smoothly and more reliably, opening straight into your alert list even when the connection is poor. A few visual details have been polished along the way, and a handful of screens now read correctly in every language the app supports. Thank you for using Japan Alerts. Stay safe.

Twelve languages, and a map you can trust. Japan Alerts now speaks Vietnamese and Traditional Chinese. Alerts, place names and safety instructions, in twelve languages. Volcanoes are properly covered this time. Every volcano the Japan Meteorological Agency can name now has its place in the app, and a warning reaches you based on how far you actually are from the mountain, not only on which prefecture it stands in. The maps were quietly wrong, and now they are not. An epicenter out at sea is drawn out at sea. An event beyond the edge of the map shows an arrow pointing toward it, instead of a dot pretending to be somewhere it is not. Smaller things you may notice: a first bulletin now steps aside when the full report for the same quake arrives, family emergency mode reaches residents of designated cities, and the notification sounds screen is translated everywhere it was still English. Thank you for using Japan Alerts. Stay safe.

Your family, one tap away. The family group is the heart of Japan Alerts: the people you want to reach first when something happens, and the ones who want to know you are safe. This version makes that connection effortless from start to finish. Creating a group takes moments. Joining is the same simple step whether you tap the button or open a link someone sent you, and the app tells you exactly where you stand at every point. Your group stays with you: through a weak signal, through closing the app and coming back, and onto a new phone, where your place in the family is waiting for you. The people who matter most, ready before you need them. Thank you for using Japan Alerts. Stay safe.

The same watchful app, now steadier when it matters most. When a major earthquake strikes, everyone opens the app in the same moment. We reworked how alerts and the alert list are delivered so they stay fast and dependable during exactly that surge, when you most need to see what is happening and where. We also made the nearby-shelter map load more quickly and more reliably, so the places that can keep you safe are ready the instant you open it. The rest of this version is quieter work: improvements to stability and clarity across the app. The app you rely on, ready for the moments that matter most. Thank you for using Japan Alerts. Stay safe.

Same watchful app, now with more accurate alerts. You can now set your place by simply choosing your prefecture, with no GPS and no map. It is the fastest way to receive the alerts that genuinely concern you, and it asks for no location sharing at all. The rest of this version is devoted to edge cases, those rare situations where an alert could go astray: a distant tremor with no felt effect treated as an emergency, a ward of a major city labelled with the name of its prefecture, an evacuation order attached to the wrong place, a safety check-in request arriving with no alert to explain it. These situations are now handled correctly. We also revised several screens so they stay clear when you have given only a prefecture. Set your places once. We handle the rest. Thank you for using Japan Alerts. Stay safe.

Same watchful app, now lighter and faster. Live alerts stay in sync while using far less background battery and data, with quicker and more dependable delivery across the app. We also refined a few small interface details to make everyday use clearer. Set your places once. We handle the rest. Thank you for using Japan Alerts. Stay safe.
