New: the daily spin. One free spin of the wheel every day, worth up to 50 coins. It replaces the 3 coins you used to get for opening the app. Coins for playing: every level you pass for the first time pays 2 coins. More levels in every game: - 10% more levels in every game: now over 1,000 puzzles in English. - Wordle grows to 229 levels, Connections to 172, and Cipher, Synonyms and Classics to 93 each. - New levels that land behind you are marked NEW, so you never lose your place. A Daily Challenge of its own: from 19 October the daily has its own puzzles, so it never hands you a level you have already solved. Finish the Daily Challenge just before midnight and it still pays its coins and bonus, even if your phone only syncs after midnight. We read every puzzle again, by hand, in all four languages: - Connections boards where a word fitted two groups, or that used the same words too often, have been rewritten. - Synonyms no longer teaches the same words twice, and in Classics the answer can no longer be guessed from where it sits. - Wordle now colors repeated letters correctly. - A Spelling Bee hive that seemed stuck can now be finished, and a tip you paid for stays on screen until you find its word. - Guessing the same wrong group twice in Connections no longer costs a life. - Accents never count against you in Cipher or Not a Word. - The Cipher counter now counts the letters you have placed, right or wrong, so it no longer gives away which guesses are correct. - The crossword's clue bar shows the clue you are answering. - Plays in Classics show the year they premiered. Not a Word: the words you have tried are on the back of the master's card. Your first three wrong guesses on each level are free; after that each one costs a coin. Naming the word right never costs anything. Your music or podcast now pauses while a game is on screen, and comes back when you leave it. With the game's sound off, nothing is paused. A new look: rounder cards, flat colors and frosted glass along the bottom of the screen. A calmer background: the clouds and birds now stay still by default, so nothing pulls your eye off the puzzle. To see them move again, turn off "Reduce motion" in Settings.

More levels in every game: - Every game has 20% more levels: over 900 puzzles in English. - Wordle grows to 208 levels, Connections to 156, and Cipher, Synonyms and Classics to 84 each. - New books in Classics, from The Hobbit to Bleak House, and new words to learn in Synonyms. - Five new crosswords on the big 6x6 grid. We read every new level one by one, and went back over the answers of the games that build themselves: misspellings and words that were never words are gone. More coins in every pack: 1 € buys 50 coins, and the bigger the pack, the more bonus coins. New in Settings: "Reduce motion" keeps the clouds and birds in the background still.

The ninth game is here: Not a Word. Ten masters each guard a secret word and describe it to you in riddles. Offer a word and hear how close you are, ask a yes-or-no question, press them for another angle, or admit you're lost, which is always free. They always tell the truth. Name the word when you've worked it out. The whole app has been redrawn to look like the game it is: - Every game's levels are now an album of cards, so you can see at a glance how far along you are. - Levels earn up to three stars, depending on how cleanly you solved them. Wins from before stars existed keep all three. - A finished level can be replayed for 12 coins. - A new Home: who's playing, today's three games, and all nine games with your progress in each. - The daily challenge shows its reward up front, and the top three on the leaderboard stand on a podium. More to play: - Cipher, Synonyms and Classics grow to 70 puzzles each, and every other game grows with them: close to 800 puzzles per language. - New crosswords, and the later ones are played on a bigger 6x6 grid. Also: - Hints work the same way in every game now: each one has a price, and you see it before you pay.

The eighth game is here: Crossword. Five by five, and every row and every column reads as a word. Also new: - Medals. Fifteen of them, for streaks, milestones and trying a bit of every game. They sit on the Stats tab and they pay out coins. - A second streak, counting the days you open the app, next to the one counting the days you finish the challenge. - The first time you open a game, a couple of tips explain the rules you'd otherwise only learn by losing. - Fun facts now arrive from the top of the screen instead of stopping your game. Synonyms got a proper rework. Every word comes with its pronunciation and its part of speech, like a dictionary entry, and at the end there's a tier of rare words: the ones you understand but never actually say. You only get one heart now, which is why a replay costs 12 coins instead of 20. Fixed: - Right after you scored, the leaderboard sometimes put you in the wrong place. - The all-time board could stay empty until you switched tabs and back. - Puzzles you finished before the leaderboards existed now count towards your all-time score. - New avatars, and a good clean-up pass over all the artwork.

Version 1.1.1 fixes things you told us about: - Winning a level now saves it and unlocks the next one. This affected every game, and Synonyms and Classics most of all. - Finishing a Synonyms puzzle shows the result right on the screen, with no dialog over it. - The nickname you pick now shows up straight away on the daily and all-time leaderboards. - The gold, silver and bronze crowns now tell the top three apart, even when they are tied.
