Thereafter: Letter Journal
Letters, Poems & Pen Pals
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
A letter a day from someone mysterious. Poems, stories and something to laugh about. Keep the ones that stay, trade postcards with other readers, and write to future you.
Thereafter is a letterbox, a journal, and a quiet place to meet other readers, built entirely around letters.
Every day, at the hour you choose, a letter arrives from someone called The Writer. You have never met them. But they write like they know you.
Some letters are thoughtful, some are quirky, some arrive as poems. A few are best read with the lights on. All of them are written for moments like yours.
NEW: POSTCARDS
You're not the only one reading. Under each day's letter, other readers leave postcards: a few lines about what the letter stirred in them. Read them, keep the ones that speak to you, and write your own. Dress yours with a paper, a stamp, your ink and a wax seal of your own.
Some postcards turn into pen pals. Write to the reader whose words sounded like yours. Keep talking in chat, or trade sealed letters, one a day each way.
Write an afterthought under any letter when something lingers. Turn a favorite into a keepsake card and share it. Keep the letters that stay with you, in collections of your own.
Nothing is ever lost here. The Archive holds every letter The Writer has ever sent, back to the very first, on shelves you can browse and search. Your unopened letters wait there under wax.
On Your Desk, the Reading Room holds original stories, a new chapter every week. Beside the books stand The Writer's Shelves: small sets of letters written for an hour rather than a date, from sleepless nights to those read with the door closed.
Write a letter to your future self. Seal it with one word for how you feel today, and choose the day it opens. Each capsule you seal becomes a star in a sky of your own, and every six you open settle into a constellation named for the feeling you sealed most.
