Picvos is a native macOS tool for comparing two images with precision and ease. Whether you're a designer validating a mockup or a developer checking implementation fidelity, picvos gives you the tools to see differences at a glance.
Two Comparison Modes:
• Opacity - overlay one image on top of the other and adjust transparency from 0 to 100% using a smooth slider. Perfect for spotting subtle layout shifts, color mismatches, or spacing differences.
• Mask - reveal differences through a draggable divider that splits your screen horizontally or vertically. Drag the handle left and right (or up and down) to expose one image at a time.
• Difference Detection - automatically highlights pixel-level differences between images using CoreImage processing. Adjust the sensitivity slider from 0 to 100% to fine-tune which differences are visible. Differences appear in red/pink tones for easy identification.
Effortless Image Loading:
Drop images directly onto the app window or the Dock icon. Alternatively, use the toolbar buttons to open images via the system file picker. Swapping images A and B is a single click away.
Supported Formats:
PNG, JPEG, TIFF, and HEIC - the formats you work with every day.
Precision Tools:
• Zoom and pan - inspect fine details at up to 10× magnification with smooth pan controls.
• Grid overlay - enable an alignment grid to check spacing and proportions.
• Rulers - show crosshair rulers that follow your cursor; tap to lock them in place.
• Keyboard offset — use arrow keys to nudge the overlay by 1 pixel, or Shift+arrow for 10-pixel steps; press Escape to reset.
• Size mismatch warning - get notified when your two images have different dimensions.
• Export snapshot - save the current comparison view as a PNG image via the toolbar button or ⌘⇧E.

Improvements:
- Comparison logic moved into the shared PicvosCore engine, so the app, CLI, and MCP server produce consistent results
- Difference detection falls back to a software renderer when GPU image processing is unavailable
Bug Fixes:
- Images dropped on the Dock icon now load into the current window instead of opening extra windows
