This update introduces quick actions: press and hold the app icon for Ambient mode, create a new palette, launch the camera, or load a random palette. I added some improvements to the camera guide with the introduction of safe zones in the viewfinder.  There is also a a new widget size, some Duo optimizations, minor refinements and fixes. A Book of Colors 3.0 is a full redesign for iOS 27. New look: the tab bar and palette actions now float over the color as glass, and the tab bar tucks away as you scroll. On iPad, the palette sits beside the page. Also in this update: a new Library tab for palette packs, a simpler Create tab, and improvements to Ambient mode. Thanks for using A Book of Colors!

Create a palette from a photo, then make it yours: drag the new sample points around the photo to pick exactly the colors you want, with a magnifying loupe for precision. When you're done, use the new Download palette and photo feature to save your photo and its palette together as a single image. Thanks for using A Book of Colors!

• Find palettes by the color – the new Contains filter lets you pick any colors from red to violet and see only the palettes that have them. • Sticky filter bar – scroll deep into Browse and your active filters now stay docked under the tabs, so you always know what you are looking at. • An improved color picker – drag to set saturation and brightness, slide for hue, or type a hex straight in. • Have an idea, or found something broken? Ambient mode and shuffle now follow your Browse filters. Filter to your liked palettes or hide a package, and the canvas cycles through only what you see in the Browse view. Also in this update: palettes you apply from Create stay put when you return to the app, edits sync more reliably across your devices, checking for updates no longer freezes the app, and swiping between palettes is smoother.

Now edit any palette - Just tap Edit on any palette in the list view to recolor it in place. Drag the color chips to reorder, tap a chip to change its color, and remove or add colors up to ten. Edit a built-in palette and the app saves your version as a new one, leaving the original untouched. You can also edit in full screen mode with a long press.

I made some performance improvements as well as added a few new features. Share any palette as a labeled image, straight from the share sheet. Photo extraction and the palette generator now work in a perceptual color space, so extracted colors are truer and generated schemes are more even. Plus a live iCloud sync status with a one-tap Sync button on the Guide tab.

Ambient mode A hands-off way to just watch palettes go by. Press and hold the round menu button to enter — every few seconds a fresh palette and a fresh layout crossfade in, all the labels disappear, and you're left with pure color. Tap anywhere to exit. Also new in this build: • Press and hold any color, then drag it onto another to reorder the palette. Saves automatically. • Refined iPad spacing and legibility throughout, including a centered column on the Guide and onboarding screens. • The Manual color editor wraps to a second row when you've got 9 or 10 swatches. • Smaller polish across copy, hit areas, and tap targets.
