Stay signed in: CallStep now keeps your session through app updates, phone restarts, calls that ring while your phone is locked, and brief network drops.
CallStep gives your business a dedicated phone number with AI-powered call handling, texting, voicemail, and contacts — all in one app, separate from your personal line.
FEATURES
• Dedicated business number for calls and SMS
• AI call answering that can answer, transcribe, and summarize incoming calls and voicemails, so you never miss what matters
• Business texting (SMS/MMS), including photos
• Contacts, notes, and a full call and message history
• Voicemail with transcripts and AI summaries
• Flexible minute packages — buy calling minutes that never expire
IMPORTANT
CallStep is not an emergency calling service. Emergency numbers are not supported — please use your carrier's phone app for emergencies.
Depending on your settings, calls and voicemails may be recorded, transcribed, and summarized by AI, including third-party AI such as OpenAI. We ask for your explicit consent before any such processing. See our Privacy Policy for the providers we use and how long data is kept.

more • Call list date filters (Today, Yesterday, Last 3 days) now follow your workspace's business time zone, so they match the numbers you see on the web.
• Messages from short codes and alphanumeric senders are shown exactly as sent. Conversations that can't receive replies now say so instead of failing when you try.
• Phone numbers are formatted the same way everywhere in the app.
• Clearer billing wording: minute-pack auto-renew only appears when it's on, with a Retry option if its status can't be loaded, and phone number subscriptions point to Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.

- Minimize the call screen during a call: tap "Minimize call" or swipe down, and a green bar at the top keeps the call going while you check your call history, send a text, or look up a contact. Tap the bar to return.
- Before you turn on AI features, the consent screen now lists exactly which AI and calling/texting providers your data is shared with. The same list is in Settings › Legal & Privacy › AI & Data Sharing.
- Minute packs are now called "AI minutes" and are only used when AI answers a call. The purchase page is simpler: just the pack, its price, and a Buy button, with a link to the Terms of Use. With a pack, you can keep making outbound calls even when the balance reaches zero.
- The first text to a customer you've never messaged now asks you to confirm they agreed to receive texts, instead of failing to send.
- On the keypad, holding 0 now reliably enters "+". Calls from hidden numbers show "Hidden number" and no longer offer call back or text options that can't work.
- Stats show which time zone they're counted in, and trial and payment deadlines display in your local time.
1.0.35 1d ago
- Incoming calls on the iPhone call screen now show which of your lines is ringing: "Caller → Line", using the line's voice profile name, its note, or its last four digits. You can tell which business line is being called before you answer.
- If two lines share the same name, the last four digits are added so they stay distinguishable. Accounts with a single number see the caller only, as before.
- Sign-up now supports invitation codes and sales partner registration links. Opening an invite or partner link fills in the code for you, and if a code is missing or no longer valid, you'll see a clear explanation and can enter a different one without requesting a new verification code.
1.0.34 Oct 9
• Calls: fixed an issue where, on some answered incoming calls, neither side could hear the other — most often on the first call after the app had been closed. Incoming calls now wait for the system's audio to be ready before connecting.
• If an answered incoming call still goes silent in both directions within its first seconds, the app now restarts the call audio automatically to bring the sound back, without you having to hang up and call back.
1.0.33 Oct 9
• When an outgoing call can't be placed, the dialer now tells you why instead of showing "reason unknown":
– The line you picked belongs to another workspace — with a pointer to Settings → Number Management to set it as current.
– The line's calling setup was just updated — simply call again.
– The same call was just placed — wait a moment, then try again.
• Sign-up: the new password is now the last field on the form, after your nickname, so a re-typed or auto-filled password can no longer land in the nickname. If the nickname matches your password, it is not saved and your default name is used instead.
• Calls: an incoming call picked up on a desk phone now shows as answered by a person — "Desk phone · device name" — instead of as answered by AI or missed.
• Agent: answers now give the full conclusion right in the reply. The supporting evidence folds into a single "Evidence" line — tap it to see every data point and source.
1.0.32 Oct 8
- Smoother lists everywhere: calls, messages, contacts, CRM, Agent conversations, orders and usage no longer jump you back to the top when you return from a detail screen or when new data arrives, the next page loads before you reach the bottom, and the call detail waveform no longer gets in the way of scrolling.
- More reliable texting when a send times out: the pending message stays visible even if the app is closed, resending never delivers it twice, and the duplicate bubbles that could appear when your phone's clock was off are fixed.
- Screens such as billing, numbers, contacts and call history always show the latest data: a slow, older response can no longer overwrite newer information, and dates and expiry times follow server time even when your phone's clock is off.
- Calls and Agent: holding and resuming before a call connects is more reliable, translating a transcript asks for your AI consent first if needed, calls forwarded to an external number that weren't accepted are no longer shown as forwarded, tapping a customer's name on a follow-up proposal opens their CRM record, and very large numbers in Agent reports display exactly.
- Language: choosing "Follow system" in Settings now sticks; it no longer switches back to another language after a failed sync or a delayed update.
- Switching accounts or signing out on the same phone is safer: everything you start applies only to the account you started on, screens never show the next account's data, the phone stops ringing for the previous account, and sessions no longer rely on cookies or keep server responses on disk.
1.0.31 Oct 6
- Ask Agent questions right in the app: watch the answer come in live, cancel anytime, and get a notification when it's ready. Reports show facts and sources as cards, and you can tap a source to open the call, text, or customer record it came from. When Agent suggests a customer follow-up, you can confirm or dismiss it right on the card. Open Agent from the top-left of Overview or Settings.
- Call details are reorganized so the caller, tags and follow-ups, and call back are all on the first screen. Calling back keeps the original line, after a busy signal you can retry or switch lines, and the caller ID menu scrolls so every line is reachable.
- Texts and outgoing calls now use only the lines in your current workspace, and the default sender and caller ID favor that workspace's default line. If a line belongs to another workspace, the app tells you why it can't be used.
- Texts you send in a row stay in the order you sent them, and calls answered by AI no longer show as missed after their recording and transcript are deleted.
- You'll see a notice when the list of AI service providers changes; it clears once you review and agree again.
- Sign in and sign up can fill your saved password from Keychain with Face ID. Switching accounts on the same phone no longer gets stuck signing in or shows the previous account's data, and incoming calls, notifications, texts, and purchases now go to the account you're signed in to.
1.0.30 Oct 3
• Texts now appear in the conversation the moment you tap Send, with a subtle animation and sound. Each message shows whether it is sending, sent, delivered, or failed, and a failed message can be retried right from its bubble.
• If CallStep can't confirm that a text went out (for example, the connection dropped), it tells you instead of resending on its own, so the same message is never sent twice by accident.
• Outbound calls now show what really happened, such as a busy line or no answer, instead of wrongly reporting a quota or server problem. The result stays visible on the dialer and in call details after the call screen closes.
1.0.29 Oct 2
Staying signed in, fixed:
• You stay signed in after updating the app, restarting your phone, or not opening the app for a while.
• A brief network drop or a server update no longer signs you out.
• If a call rings while your phone is locked, opening the app afterwards no longer takes you to the sign-in screen.
• Live messages and call updates reconnect automatically when you come back to the app.
1.0.28 Sep 30
• Incoming calls during an outgoing call now use iPhone call waiting. You'll hear a short tone instead of a full ringtone, and the call you're on is no longer interrupted.
• Hold & Accept and Decline are available right from the iOS call screen.
• The keypad on the iOS call screen now works during outgoing calls, so you can navigate phone menus.
1.0.27 Sep 29
• Enhanced identity lookups now appear only for workspaces approved to use them. Standard caller names still show as before.
• If a lookup isn't available, the app now tells you why: the workspace owner applies on the web dashboard, and the platform reviews each application.
1.0.26 Sep 27
• Every line rings: if you answer calls for more than one business line, your iPhone now rings for all of them. The line you choose for outgoing calls no longer decides which incoming calls reach you.
• More reliable incoming calls when iOS resets its calling service: a call you hadn't answered yet is now correctly recorded as declined.
1.0.25 Sep 25
• Times: call details, orders, subscription, usage and billing screens now show times in your local time zone instead of UTC.
• AI & Data Sharing: turning it off now reliably reaches our servers. If you're offline, the app keeps retrying until the change is recorded, and Settings shows while it's still pending.
• AI consent: clearer wording about which features the consent covers.
• Call activity: more event types now show readable labels.
1.0.24 Sep 24
• Incoming calls: CallStep now gets ready for calls earlier when iOS launches it for an incoming call, so calls that arrive while the app isn't running can ring sooner.
1.0.23 Sep 22
• Dialer: type a colleague’s extension, such as 102, to call them directly.
• Incoming transfers: when a colleague transfers a caller to you, the incoming call screen and the call view show who transferred it.
• Transfer: team member accounts can now open Transfer and Invite Extension during a call without “Failed to load.” Extensions and other lines are listed separately, offline colleagues are marked, and if a transfer can’t go through, the app tells you why.
• Call details: opening a call from your history no longer stutters.
• Toll-free numbers: texting status on toll-free numbers (800, 888, and others) now follows toll-free verification instead of showing “A2P Unverified,” and the prompt takes you to the toll-free verification page.
1.0.22 Sep 21
• Dashboard: Recent Calls now use the same compact rows as your call history, stacked in one card, with call-back and text-back buttons right in each row.
• Dialer: no more “Allow Paste” prompt when you open the dialer or dial a number.
• Calls: the list opens on Needs Follow-up by default, each row keeps its most useful tags (score, who answered) visible on narrow screens, and refreshing no longer makes the list jump.
• Messages: separate buttons for switching numbers and composing a new message.
• Avatars: one neutral gray look everywhere.
• AI & data sharing: the consent screen now shows exactly what is shared, whether it is used for training, and how long it is kept, straight from the current policy.
1.0.21 Sep 14
Take a second call without losing the first.
• When another call comes in while you're on a call, the call screen now shows it: hold the current call and answer, or decline.
• The call you put on hold stays on screen with a Switch button, so you can move between the two calls as often as you need.
• When one call ends, the other comes back automatically.
• Switching no longer flashes the screen.
1.0.20 Sep 10
Text conversations: when the latest message in a chat is a photo without a caption, the conversation list now shows “[Image]” instead of an empty line. Incoming photo messages update the preview right away, so the row no longer keeps showing the previous text message.
1.0.19 Sep 9
• Your business lines are now named by their voice profile everywhere: on the incoming call screen, in your numbers list, on the renewals page, and when choosing which number to text from. The note on a number is used only when its profile has no name of its own, and a number is never labeled with a copy of itself.
• A red Recording indicator appears on the call screen while a call is being recorded, so you always know when a segment is on the record. It shows only once the call is connected and never for calls that are not being recorded.
• Consult transfers are safer to hand over. Leave now waits until your teammate has actually joined and keeps the customer connected with them; if your teammate hasn't answered yet, the call stays with you and the screen says so. A new Back to customer button ends the consult and returns you to the customer.
• Fixed: a network hiccup while holding or transferring a call could end the call for everyone. The call screen now closes only when the call has really ended.
1.0.18 Sep 8
• A second incoming call no longer cuts off the call you are on. Each call is tracked separately, so hold, resume, switching between calls, and hanging up act only on the call you chose. Declining the second call while busy just declines it on this device; the caller can still reach your other devices, the AI assistant, or voicemail.
• Search in Call History now searches everything. Typing a search term clears the follow-up and date filters, so a call from last week shows up even when you were looking at "Recent 3 days"; clearing the search brings your filters back. The search box says what it covers: phone number, name, or N-number.
• Typing a number that is already in your contacts now shows the contact's name from the moment the call screen opens, instead of after the call ends.
• You can choose where call audio goes. Tap the audio button during a call to pick the earpiece, speaker, or any paired headset — AirPods, a car system, or anything else the phone can reach.
• Notifications no longer stall or jump back to the top while you are reading them; the background refresh merges in what is new and leaves your place alone. AI summary rows in the notification center also line up properly at every text size.
• The Delete Account screen now says exactly what happens: your data is removed from the live service right away, and the encrypted offsite backup that still contains it is replaced within 30 days. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
1.0.17 Sep 3
• Restarting your iPhone no longer leads to repeat or phantom incoming-call alerts. The app now re-registers for calls the moment you unlock, instead of leaving a stale registration in place until the next time you open it.
• Notifications now show up even before you have a phone number. Account and referral notices were already loading — they were just hidden behind a filter that only shows number activity, so the list looked empty next to an unread badge.
• Notification cards show a number the way your service formats it, rather than the raw routing value.
• Each of your numbers now reports its real billing status. A number whose charge schedule is broken used to be shown as rent-free; it now says there is a billing problem instead of hiding it, and a number that is genuinely exempt says why.
1.0.16 Aug 31
• Warm transfer: after you introduce the caller to a colleague, tap Leave to step out. The other two keep talking — before, hanging up ended the call for everyone.
• Your lines now show the names you gave them, on the home screen, call history and messages, instead of a bare number. Team members see them too.
• Start a text to any number without waiting for them to write first.
• In-call transfer and extensions now work no matter how a call reached you, and the keypad confirms the tones it sends.
• Notifications are grouped by what you can act on, with the next step on each row.
• The home screen no longer shows trial minutes once they are used up.
• Smoother scrolling in long lists, and the prompts on launch no longer stack on top of each other.
1.0.15 Aug 30
• Waiting for a number? The home screen now shows your place in the queue, when one is expected to free up, and what to do next — no more digging through menus.
• Number prices shown in the app now match what you are actually charged at checkout.
• Renewals lists every number on your account, not just the current one — so numbers you pay for monthly are no longer missing from the app.
• Fixed a purchase status banner that could stay on screen after a transaction was declined. It now clears, and you can try again right away.
1.0.14 Aug 28
This release is about telling you the truth about your own account.
• Minutes now show where they came from — trial credit and minutes you paid for are listed separately, with your latest receipt kept on screen so a purchase never disappears.
• A purchase that gets interrupted no longer leaves you stuck on "processing" forever.
• The next step after buying survives a restart, and buying minutes takes you to the keypad instead of a billing ledger.
• If you have paid, we no longer tell you your number is about to expire — it isn't. Expiry dates now show in your own time zone.
• Trial accounts can see why the keypad is closed and what buying minutes actually gets them, including keeping the number they already have.
• When carriers block your outgoing texts, the app now gives you a real way forward instead of a notice with nowhere to go.
• Business verification fills in what it safely can, flags every remaining problem at once, and explains each one in your language.
1.0.13 Aug 27
Error messages from the server now appear in your chosen language.
Around 130 messages — things like "Call not found", "Admin only", and "SMS service is not configured" — used to show in English no matter which language you had selected. They are now translated, and the wording matches what you see on the web app.
1.0.12 Aug 26
• Call list date filters (Today, Yesterday, Last 3 days) now follow your workspace's business time zone, so they match the numbers you see on the web.
