AUTO AD SKIP IS OUT OF BETA Fast Cast now recognizes sponsor messages it has heard before, finds where each break starts and ends more precisely, and checks a fresh download's opening before you press play. It works in the background while you listen, and it's on for Fast Cast Pro, with its switch in Settings › Playback. SECTIONS AS YOU LISTEN An episode's sections and sponsor breaks now appear while its transcript is still being made, and fill in as it goes, so you can find your way around a long episode before it's finished. SOUNDS A small set of sounds now marks subscribing to a show, a finished download, the end of an episode, setting the sleep timer, an achievement and Go Back. One Sounds switch in Settings › Playback turns them off (Go Back follows Skip Sound). DISCOVER • For You and Top Podcasts now load where they used to come up empty, and charts and search follow your region • Cards and rows load lighter artwork • A Fast Cast link to a show opens that show's page, even when you don't follow it • The search bar is always in view FIXES & POLISH • Player: the lock screen and skip buttons use your skip settings; a cleared sleep timer no longer stays on screen or silences the skip sound; skipping back before an episode's length is known keeps your place; email and phone links in show notes open instead of crashing; Create Clip works on streams; subscribing while you preview an episode brings that episode into your library; time saved after a seek is counted once; the Sound sheet's stage rows update live • Queue, Inbox and playlists: queueing from a show page or a playlist takes the episode out of the Inbox; playing from a playlist puts the rest at the top of the Queue instead of replacing it; a Queue episode that finishes downloading shows it and plays offline; the Inbox keeps your sort and filter; smart playlists update after an edit; Archive works in a playlist; Binge Mode's Download Ahead updates as you change it; a show's Auto-Download can be Off while the global setting is On; VoiceOver reaches Play Next and Episode Info on a row • Downloads: downloads that were waiting or running when the app closed pick up again on the next launch; Wi-Fi Only is honored on a fresh install; files from hosts that label their audio oddly are no longer turned away • Feeds: a refresh no longer stalls when the app goes to the background, a slow feed can't hold up the rest, http-only feeds refresh, and a show setting you change during a refresh is kept • iCloud sync: it turns on as soon as you unlock Pro; a removed star or bookmark stays removed, deleted and edited bookmarks reach your other devices, your newest position reaches iCloud even while a sync is running, and the pre-sync backup shows its real date • Stats: the weekday and month charts count each listen on your local day, This Week is seven days, the hour-of-day chart keeps each listen's hour, the Stats widget shows your real numbers, and a locked achievement shows the same count as its card • Transcripts: Regenerate is its own button on the transcript page and asks before it replaces anything; some publisher transcripts that came up empty now load; episodes from some feeds that lost their transcript and chapters now keep them • Settings and Pro: Reset Tips works; the paywall offers a free trial only when you're eligible for one; if your subscription lapses, the Pro sound features pause and your settings are kept Full Auto, Tight Edit, Voice Polish, Sound Styles, profiles, live Analysis with the A/B test, Auto Ad Skip and iCloud sync are part of Fast Cast Pro. AUTO AD SKIP, SHARPER (BETA) Auto Ad Skip now catches more of the sponsor messages it used to miss, and it is just as careful about what it skips. It skips only what it's very sure is an ad, so some breaks still play for now. Off by default, in Settings › Playback. • An ad that runs to the very end of a downloaded episode now skips straight to the end and the episode finishes, instead of playing the ad's last few seconds. TRANSCRIPTS THAT FINISH Skip around while Fast Cast is still transcribing an episode and the transcript now reaches the end, however you listen, so the episode's ad marks arrive too. Transcripts made as you listen also keep more of the words. FIXES & POLISH • Connecting or disconnecting headphones mid-episode no longer drops playback off Fast Cast's sound engine, so Tight Edit, Voice Polish and Full Auto carry on • With Bold Text and the largest text sizes, the app no longer runs off the edges of the screen; the welcome pages scroll, the iCloud Sync status wraps, and the mini player's play button is easier to tap • An episode's length now comes from the downloaded file itself, so the time left, the scrubber and the ad marks line up even when a show's feed gets the length wrong • Archiving an episode while it's still downloading now cancels the download when your Delete Downloads setting says so • Tapping an episode's row while the player is still bringing it up now plays it instead of leaving it paused • A stream that stops arriving while you wait now recovers sooner Full Auto, Tight Edit, Voice Polish, Sound Styles, profiles, live Analysis with the A/B test, Auto Ad Skip and iCloud sync are part of Fast Cast Pro. AUTO AD SKIP ON EVERY IPHONE (BETA) Ad marks no longer need Apple Intelligence: Fast Cast finds them on any iPhone with iOS 26 or later, in the English transcripts it makes itself. Auto Ad Skip skips only what it's very sure is an ad, so some breaks still play for now, and every skip shows Go Back. Summaries and titled chapters still use Apple Intelligence. Off by default, in Settings › Playback. STREAMS GET THE NEW SOUND Streamed episodes now play through the same sound engine as downloads, so Tight Edit and Voice Polish work on them too. When Fast Cast downloads as you play, the stream becomes the download: one fetch, not two. NO MORE FROZEN SCREEN When a slow connection makes you wait, a ring circles the play button and "Buffering…" shows until the sound starts. Tap play on an episode and the full player opens; turn off Open Player When Playing in Settings › Playback to keep the mini player. ICLOUD SYNC, REBUILT Your shows, queue, playlists, Inbox and archive, and where you are in every episode follow you between your devices, in your own iCloud. Only these details sync, never the audio. • A new install restores your library from iCloud and shows its progress as it goes. • Continue on this phone: open Fast Cast on your other device and, if it isn't playing, the episode you were just playing waits in the player, paused at the same moment. One tap plays it. HEAR THE DIFFERENCE The A/B button on the player's analysis page works with the new sound engine: hear the same passage with and without Fast Cast's sound, pick the one you like, then see which was which.
