With Filesystem Spy, you can: • Choose any folder using the standard macOS Open dialog • Watch for newly created and modified files • Start and stop monitoring whenever you want • View changed files in a simple, searchable-style list • Reveal any captured file directly in Finder • Double-click a file to inspect detailed metadata • Review beginner-friendly details like name, path, type, size, dates, and default app • Inspect advanced filesystem details like inode, device ID, hard link count, POSIX permissions, UID, GID, mode, block size, and allocated disk usage • View Finder tags, hidden status, package status, alias status, symbolic link status, and backup exclusion state • Check ownership and access information, including owner, group, readable, writable, and executable flags • See volume information such as volume name, format, capacity, available space, read-only status, sparse file support, hard link support, symbolic link support, and extended security support • Inspect extended attributes attached to files • Export captured data to a plain text file • Export captured data to an HTML report Filesystem Spy is useful for audits, troubleshooting, development, system cleanup, file organization, and understanding what is happening inside a folder over time.
