Automated safety check-ins
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Automated safety check-ins that alert your emergency contacts if you don't respond. Your digital bodyguard for dates, rideshares, and solo adventures.
Stay safe with automated check-ins that work even when you cannot reach your phone.
WHAT IS SAFEHANDOFF?
SafeHandoff is your digital bodyguard - a personal safety app that monitors your well-being during potentially risky activities. Set a timer before going out, and if you do not check in safely, your emergency contacts are automatically alerted with your exact location.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Plan Your Activity
Choose from common scenarios like rideshares, dates, solo walks, or hiking trips. Set a timer for how long you will be out.
2. Stay Protected
The app monitors your safety in the background. A visual countdown keeps you informed, with warnings as your deadline approaches.
3. Check In Safely
When you are safe, simply check in using your secret safe word. If you forget, you will enter a grace period before alerts are sent.
4. Automatic Alerts
Cannot reach your phone? No problem. If you do not check in, SafeHandoff automatically sends SMS alerts to your trusted contacts with your precise location and a map link - even if they do not have the app.
KEY FEATURES
- Situational Templates: Pre-built safety plans for rideshares, dates, hikes, meetings, and more.
- Duress Protection: Set a secret panic word that looks like a normal check-in but silently triggers an emergency alert if you are being watched.
- Smart Location Sharing: Human-readable addresses, not just GPS coordinates. Your contacts get clickable map links via SMS.
- Works Globally: International phone number support. Your contacts do not need the app - just a phone that receives text messages.
