And when a sentence's translation arrives, it shows right away rather than waiting for the speaker's next sentence. NEW — Bring your own term list Already have a list of terms? In Import terms, choose Option 3 to add it as is — a photo, Excel, Word, PDF or text file — with no AI extraction. Photos are recognized on your device. You can also add single terms with the + button. NEW — Folders show how many recordings they hold Each folder in the list shows its number of recordings, and folders with the latest recordings come first. Also new - Announcements only appear the moment you open the app. If you've already started doing something, they wait for next time. - Messages: your friend's avatar sits next to their messages, emoji-only messages are shown larger, sent messages no longer flicker or jump, and the unread count in the sidebar clears as soon as you open a chat. iPad gets the emoji panel too. - iPad: resizing the window no longer shows the page mid-layout; the sidebar slides open as smoothly as it closes, and the search field no longer flickers; pinning a recording moves its card to the top; continuing or stopping a recording animates the bottom bar like on iPhone; full-screen review notes are no longer covered by the sidebar. - Buttons, search fields and the playback and recording bars now share one glass style, tuned for light and dark mode. Fixes - System audio recording: after you save or delete, iOS no longer shows a "broadcast stopped" alert. - Signing in: if sending or checking the code gets no response within 15 seconds, you're told, instead of a spinner that never ends. - The top cards in All Recordings no longer jitter when the page opens.

NEW — Recording with the screen locked holds up If iOS interrupts BufferMind in the background during a long recording, the recording keeps going as one recording instead of stopping or splitting in two. If the app is closed completely, the audio is kept and the missing captions are filled in when you open the recording again. NEW — Pause for up to an hour Pause through a class break for up to an hour (it used to be 30 minutes). When you resume, it's still the same recording. NEW — Jump back to now Scrolled up during a recording to reread something? Tap the arrow at the top to jump back to what's being said right now. NEW — French, German and Arabic lectures You can now choose French, German or Arabic as the speaker's language. Also new - If a recording can't start, the app tells you why — for example, when another app is using the microphone. - When the connection drops, the notice at the top is clearer: no connection → back online → captions for the gap will be added after the recording ends. - Opened a recording from All Recordings? Swipe from the left edge to go back. Fixes - A recording's length no longer includes the time it was paused. - Recordings interrupted by a phone call or Siri now save to the cloud. - Closing the app right after you stop no longer loses the recording. - Continuing a recording no longer creates a duplicate, and the full audio now reaches your other devices. - Playing a recording some time after you made it no longer sounds quiet or silent. - Opening the share link of your own recording no longer replaces your notes. - Very long continued recordings play back correctly. - iPad app on a Mac: opening a recording no longer freezes. - If recording wouldn't start until you closed and reopened the app, you no longer need to reopen it. - Recordings over an hour: the bottom bar no longer flickers when you resume after a pause. - Fixed a crash.

NEW — Subtitles in a floating window (iPhone) Leave the app while recording and the translation keeps showing in a small floating window on top of other apps. NEW — Import course terms In a folder, import your syllabus or slides (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, or a photo). BufferMind picks out the names and technical terms, and recordings in that folder recognize them more accurately. NEW — Speaker's language → translation The language button on the home screen now shows both: the language being spoken, and the language to translate into. Also new - The app now opens in dark mode. You can switch back in Settings. - If a recording isn't picking up any sound, a notice tells you. - System audio recording no longer mixes in the microphone, so the transcript is cleaner. - Chinese and Cantonese read-aloud: choose a female or male voice. - Contact us directly from Settings. - iPad: works better in Split View and resizable windows. Fixes - A recording no longer stops halfway through class when the connection drops. It reconnects on its own. - Accounts signed in with Apple using a hidden email are no longer stopped and signed out after a few minutes of recording. - A recording you just stopped now plays right away on its detail page. - Words are no longer split across two lines in the transcript. - Cantonese read-aloud pauses in the right places.

NEW — Review notes After class, open Andy and switch to "Review notes": a one-screen overview of the key points, then full notes with timestamps — tap a time to jump to that moment. Export it as a PDF in one tap and send it straight to WeChat. NEW — Share with classmates Turn a recording into a link. Classmates see the transcript, translation and review notes, and can save a copy to their own account once signed in. If they have BufferMind installed, links opened from Messages, Notes or Safari go straight into the app. Also new - Full-screen mode on the recording detail page: hide the top bar and playback bar and read the whole transcript. - During playback the current word stays highlighted and the page follows along; the playback bar shows the current position and total length. - Tap the mic at the end of the playback bar to continue a recording. - While recording on a slow connection, a notice tells you how many seconds the subtitles are behind. - Headphone read-aloud into Chinese can now also read out the parts of a lecture spoken in Cantonese or Chinese — turn it on in the headphone settings. - "Categories" are now called "Folders". - Redesigned welcome, language and sign-in screens on first launch. - iPad: the collapsed sidebar becomes a slim icon rail, and recording starts faster. Fixes - "Continue recording" from the sidebar long-press now responds right away and explains when a recording can't be continued. - AI titles no longer get stuck on the first sentence. - A recording still saving when you sign out now lands in the right account. - The detail page no longer jumps after you stop and save, and recordings with no transcribed text are kept. - Sharing to WeChat or Messages sends a clean link card.

NEW — Record system audio too A new recording source, "System audio": whatever another app on your phone is playing (an online class, a meeting, a video) is captured, transcribed and translated alongside the mic. NEW — Notice board Home and Settings gain a "Notice board": new versions, new features and announcements are explained here first, and new features come with a demo. NEW — Cantonese headphone translation Translating into Chinese? Headphone live translation can read it to you in Cantonese: when you turn it on, pick "Cantonese" under Voice — remembered for next time. Playback is also faster and smoother than before. Recording page - A full-screen button at the top right: hide the top bar and the recording bar in one tap, leaving just the subtitles and translation. - The Lock Screen / Dynamic Island card is rearranged with the timer on its own on the right; it keeps counting on the Always-On display too. Battery - A "Low Power Mode" switch in Settings: long recordings use less battery, with recording and translation unaffected. Folders & sidebar - Creating a folder offers "Pin to sidebar" — it appears in the sidebar right away. - A new account's first sign-in shows a demo recording; follow the finger hint and long-press to get started. iPad - The headphone playback switch moved onto the recording bar; the paused-state buttons no longer show their old look. Fixes - No more dark glow along the top of bottom sheets, plus smaller polish throughout.

NEW — Continue a recording Long-press a recording and choose "Continue recording" to pick up where it left off. The new audio and transcript are added to the same session — one lecture stays one recording, even after a break. Andy - Zoned out? Tap "I just zoned out" and Andy gives you a plain-language recap of the last minute or two, plus where the lecture is now. Ask in English, get English. - When your name is called, the card now shows the question Andy caught and a direct answer. Home & library - Recordings are listed by when they were recorded. Pin the ones you want to keep at the top. Friends - The Friends row in the sidebar now shows a count — pending friend requests first, otherwise unread messages.
