SpeedRead helps you read faster using RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation)—words appear one at a time (or in small groups) so you can keep a steady rhythm and reduce unnecessary eye movement. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Import PDFs via drag-and-drop or the file picker. Text is extracted on your Mac with PDFKit. • Paste or type your own text in a large editor—paragraphs are preserved as much as possible. • Adjust reading speed from 100 to 1000 words per minute with a live slider. • Choose 1, 2, or 3 words per “flash” to match your comfort level. • Use Spritz-style fixation: the optimal recognition point (ORP) is highlighted when reading one word at a time. • Customize text size and font style (system, monospaced, serif, rounded). • Track progress and an estimated time remaining. • Keyboard shortcuts for play/pause, skipping forward/back, and nudging speed. PRIVACY & OFFLINE Your documents and pasted text are processed locally. SpeedRead is built for focused reading without sending your content to our servers. REQUIREMENTS macOS 14 or later.
