Click the notch and a small browser drops down over your work. On a page with a video, press Cmd+Shift+F and the video fills the panel. NotchBrowser is a small web browser that opens from the notch at the top of your MacBook screen. Click the notch and a browser panel drops down over whatever you’re doing. Press Escape to tuck it away. The windows underneath stay put. Keep a tutorial playing above your code, or a docs page close by when you need to check it again. HOW IT WORKS Hover over the notch and a preview appears after a moment. Click to keep the panel open. If the preview gets in your way, turn it off in Settings. Drag the sides, bottom or corners to resize the panel. It stays on screen and remembers its size. Closed, it’s a black bar around the notch with the app name and, once you have more than one tab, a tab count. The menu bar icon and the Dock icon open it too. CINEMA MODE On a page with a video, press ⌘⇧F or the expand button in the toolbar. NotchBrowser finds the main video and its player, hides the tabs and toolbar, and fills the panel with it. The player’s own controls stay. The Exit button fades after three seconds. Press Escape and the page returns as it was, including your scroll position. Pressing a site’s own fullscreen button keeps the video inside the panel. It won’t take over your display. Cinema Mode changes the page layout. It doesn’t change what a site will play. If a video won’t play here, Open in Default Browser is in the actions menu. THE BROWSER • ⌘T opens a tab, ⌘W closes one, ⌘1 to ⌘9 jump between them (⌘9 is the last tab), ⌘⇧[ and ⌘⇧] step through them • ⌘⇧T brings back a tab you closed by mistake • Up to eight tabs come back after you quit. Tabs you weren’t looking at load when you click them • ⌘F finds text on the page, with next and previous • ⌘+ and ⌘- zoom, ⌘0 resets • ⌘L jumps to the address bar. Type an address or a search; searches go to Google • localhost:3000 or an IP address opens over plain http, handy for a local dev server • ⌘[ and ⌘] go back and forward, or swipe on the trackpad • Focus Mode hides the tab bar when you want more room for the page New tabs open on a start page built into the app, with a search field and a few quick links. It loads nothing from the internet until you pick something. Shortcuts work while the NotchBrowser panel is focused. SETTINGS Pick an accent color and the app’s language. The panel can close itself 5, 15 or 30 seconds after your pointer leaves it. Launch at login, the menu bar icon and haptic feedback each have a switch. Smart URL Paste is off by default. Turn it on and, when you edit the address, NotchBrowser offers a link you’ve copied. PRIVACY There’s no account and no analytics. The app sends nothing back to its developer. Pages you open still talk to their own servers, as they do in any browser. Websites can’t use your camera; those requests are turned down. Microphone requests ask you first. Settings > Privacy > Clear Browsing Data closes your tabs and deletes all stored website data, cookies included. A built-in blocklist stops pages and frames from a short list of known ad and tracking domains. Don’t expect it to work like a full ad blocker. The app runs in the macOS App Sandbox with network and microphone access only. REQUIREMENTS macOS 14 or later. Made for MacBooks with a notch. On a Mac without one, it shows as a black bar at the top center of the main display. One-time purchase, no subscription.
