Calm browsing for motion-sensitive people. Still stops animated GIFs, autoplaying video, and sliding, fading and zooming page effects in Safari — all on-device.
Still blocks animated images and motion effects in Safari, giving you a calm, static browsing experience.
What it blocks: • Animated GIFs — replaced with a static placeholder. Includes GIFs served via image-proxy URLs and cross-origin CDNs that often slip past simpler blockers • Animated WebP and APNG — detected by inspecting file headers; static images display normally • Autoplaying video — stays paused until you tap play, including players that keep trying to restart themselves • Animated canvases — background shaders, particle fields and animated graphics hold still on a single frame, while static charts and canvases are left alone • Scripted motion — text and images that zoom, slide or fade into place as a page loads, and scroll-driven effects on modern marketing sites, simply appear in their final position • CSS animations and transitions — carousel crossfades, opacity pulses, sliding banners, background animations, including those inside web components • SVG animations and animated charts • Smooth-scrolling carousels that move on a timer
What it doesn't break: • Static images display normally • Page layout and functionality are preserved; videos and canvases you tap or click on work normally • Per-site allowlist lets you enable animations on sites you trust • Global on/off toggle in the extension popup
Built for people with vestibular sensitivities, migraine triggers, or anyone who just wants the web to hold still.
Still runs entirely on-device. No data is collected, transmitted, or stored.
I've been looking for an app to stop gifs and other animations. This worked perfectly!
Fixes a flicker on news sites when scrolling on a phone. A scrolling finger that happened to start on a video was being treated as a tap on it, so the video could start playing under your finger — and, with a second autoplay blocker installed, strobe its poster and play button as the two fought over it. Scrolling now never counts as a tap; tapping a play button still works.
